Other than Seton Hall Prep (who looked like a team of mainly Juniors) the JV tourney teams looked to be mostly comprised of rising freshmen.

Where did you get your facts or did you just assume. Seton Hall Prep had 3 freshman, 11 sophomores and the rest Juniors.

It’s a pity offer from Tillman. It’s good for community moral. FYI most programs carry 6-8 goalies. So adding one more is no big deal.

So you’re telling me rising freshmen in MIAA are 13? Ha! Love it when Maryland folks complain about holdbacks.

I know many rising freshmen, all my son’s friends. All are between 13 and 15. Some are one year (prefirst) holdbacks.

You could count on one hand the number of 13 year old in the MIAA entering 9th grade.

Not so fast. Check the last name of the new OC and the last name of the Spalding coach. Not good for St John, St Mary’s, and the current lefty who started as a freshman

If that happens it won’t be good for Navy. They will continue to be near the bottom of the Patriot League.

He does this often. It’s part of ensuring he has representation among his roster. In this case a MD public kid. Token recruit.

I see Loyola went 0-5 at the NHSLS Red Session. Did they bring their rising JV team? If not, it looks like both Programs are in a perpetual re-building mode.

They also brought a Varsity roster, didn't they? Woloson and Webster played in the nhsls.

For Loyola rising freshman played in JV session. The JV players from this past spring played Red varsity session., Varsity returners play this week

They brought rising Freshmen, and didn't have the JV coaches with them due to a schedule conflict. I know quite a few of these boys and they are both good players and good kids. They will be fine if the program can find some competent adults who can coach them. FWIW - I am not a Loyola dad.

The problem isn’t the JV coaching at Loyola.

Seton Hall has a Freshman team, JV Team, and Varsity team. At this tournament they had 3 rising freshman, 11 rising sophomores and yes, the rest were rising juniors. (last time I checked, juniors can be on a JV team) There are NO RECLASS PLAYERS on this team.

The white session NHSLS Varsity team has 4 rising sophomores attending along with rising juniors and rising seniors. No RECLASS PLAYERS.

My son attends Calvert Hall and we were allowed to have juniors play on our JV as long as they didn’t play in a varsity game.

And line of behavior that is why CHC wins the JV title. Why aren't the juniors on Varsity. Play them or cut em.. This is not helping them at all. Thank goodness many around town usually look under the hood a little more
and figure these things out. Rising 8th graders after you consider your next school first for academics, please take a long hard look at the size of the JV & Varsity bench @ CHC, LB, BL & St. Pauls. If you are a solid player you still may not see the field. Go somewhere you can play.

Heard on the Crabfeast broadcast that a 2023 UNC attack commit from Georgia is transferring to BL for his senior year. It's going to be hard to compete with the schools that board players.

Agree. Got o where you can play.

Lots of schools have JRs on JV in the MIAA, but it's a little more rampant at Calvert Hall, Boys Latin and Loyola because they simply have a lot more kids than the other schools.

It's why they are usually pretty good. But it's also the reason so many kids get buried on the bench and you get the drama in the stands.

Heard the same. Alumni wanting to send their kids there should think twice. Crabs is involved in this whole boarding mess as well. Local kids getting cut or moved to the end of the bench.

It's not just BL. Calvert Hall loves to rent out-of-state kids for a year. It's easier than developing players.

Plenty of examples if you look at the roster. Including kids who will be too old to play in the league after their JR years.

What is even more awful is the leagues lack of response.... Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't a kid have to sit out a year if he transfers from one MIAA school to another, Yet that does not include kids from other out of town schools.... This is complete nonsense and the league and the schools should be held to a higher standard instead of absolutely destroying local kids by taking their positions and playing time and not giving them another option to go to a different MIAA school were things could be different for them..... Someone needs to stop this...
