Submit rosters to who exactly? Again, who is taking over all the clubs? US LAcrosse is not doing this. So again, who?

Someone once told me that US Lacrosse provides insurance and it is needed before the kids can play on some club teams. Maybe US Lacrosse can deny membership and provide no insurance. That would force tournament directors to check age and insurance status. Other than that long shot guess I would think they have no power.

There is no oversight committee. It’s a ridiculous forever argument. Nothing will ever change. God bless America on this tragic day.

Whether the tournament directors actually look at the submited rosters with birth dates is probably in question, but that is who the rosters would be submitted to. Then if there is a protest birth dates are documented somewhere. It cleans everything up. Poor Dad is in fear of change and being exposed and his son having to play with kids his own age. Too funny.

Parents are putting in way too much thought and effort towards a hobby in lack of better words. In a couple of years, this back and forth regarding re-class will be passed down to another set of a clueless, self-absorbed bunch of parents. I just let my son play. He's focused on a certain school, and once lacrosse is over, it's over.

So your son has played and still plays on age and just focused on a certain school? His Good Grades and your money can probably get him in? But, with some of the top schools , that is not always the case.

Not everyone can get onto their top choice schools with grades and money. The sport aspect helps a lot! That’s why parents spend so much money on lacrosse. They are hoping it will be a factor in helping their kid get into a top school they wouldn’t otherwise get in with just money and good grades. The thought and effort is more about future opportunities , more than actual lacrosse!

No one is doing this ever! This is a HS thread, this post is for 5th grade club. Keep it there. Please stop with the hysteria and victim hood mentality. It’s so pathetic.

The sport doesn’t help a lot. Football and basketball do, but lacrosse doesn’t help all that much. Guessing you haven’t gone through the process or you wouldn’t be posting this silliness.Want your kid in a top school, save the $5000 a summer and invest it in a combination of SAT prep and tutors, it will serve your son much more. Parents who spend the money on lacrosse do it for themselves.

The sport absolutely helps a lot. Take a look over the years at the kids who have gone on to Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Duke, Hopkins, Notre Dame, Penn, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell... How many of them would have gotten in on their own? Take a look at the next tier and the tier after that.... Georgetown, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina.... and the next.... Boston University, Lehigh, Ohio State, Villanova, Syracuse, Maryland, Penn State, Bucknell, Colgate etc...
Don't forget Navy, Army, Airforce.... How about Bentley? DIII is an option as well Tufts and the rest of the NESCAC's.... and many more schools.

How many of the Long Island players that are currently enrolled at those schools or who have graduated would have been accepted without the help of the lacrosse coach?

Go check the roster for Football and Basketball at the schools listed above and tell us all how many Long Island kids are on the rosters and then take a look at the Lacrosse rosters at those schools.

The lacrosse players who went to all those schools had the grades. Sorry to interfere with your fantasy. The kids going to the service academies get very little assistance from the sport. If they don't have the grades it's off to Prep. You have not been through the process if you believe what you are writing.

Yes! They had the grades and probably the $s too. Doesn’t mean they would have gotten into those schools without the sport? Could have, but ? I’m sure the sports help! How about the People bribing USC, Harvard , etc ? They had plenty of $s and perfect (prob. Bought) grades. Still had to fake a sport to get in? Got caught… but they knew a sport could be the way in… to these prestigious schools they couldn’t get into. Everyone knows about good grades , sometimes you need more ! Fact no one disputing the grade component!!

Benn through the process multiple times. The majority didn't have the grades to get in on their own. If your son or daughter has gone through the process and has Excellent Grades and Test scores and the coaches are not willing to help with admissions it is because the coach doesn't think your child can help the team compete.

So, would you say the reverse is true also? Excellent player who can help the team, but not the best grades can get in over the other kid with great grades?

How many times? Multiple, like 3 or 4 or 5?? Sorry, your story doesn't pass the smell test. You're making up stories.

Dude, get off the socio-economic status of lacrosse players. Bottom line, the VAST majority of top kids are RICH!! they live in Manhasset, GC, Port Washington, and Syosset in Nassau. they go to Chaminade and St. A's. It's a rich kid sport. Look at every single LI Champion over the last 10 years and pick out the poor communities. Show me how many Freeport has? How about Amityville? If you don't like it, you picked the wrong sport. STOP BEING A VICTIM and show your kid how to succeed, YOU are failing him with all your whining.

WORD! The sport helps TREMENDOUSLY. The Other poster who says it doesn’t, didn’t answer if his kid was a re-class? Hmmm? Sounds like he’s got the money for college, and his kid just playing extra years for fun and not advantages. ??

Dude, get off the socio-economic status of lacrosse players. Bottom line, the VAST majority of top kids are RICH!! they live in Manhasset, GC, Port Washington, and Syosset in Nassau. they go to Chaminade and St. A's. It's a rich kid sport. Look at every single LI Champion over the last 10 years and pick out the poor communities. Show me how many Freeport has? How about Amityville? If you don't like it, you picked the wrong sport. STOP BEING A VICTIM and show your kid how to succeed, YOU are failing him with all your whining.

Dude, no one is talking about the dollars! Talking about if the sport aspect helps get kids into colleges they would never have had a chance getting into without it. The money part came into play , because people who have it can afford to keep their kids back and play they’re-class game that is an advantage , no matter what you want to say about it! BTW, you didn’t answer … did your kid re-class?

The lacrosse players who went to all those schools had the grades. Sorry to interfere with your fantasy. The kids going to the service academies get very little assistance from the sport. If they don't have the grades it's off to Prep. You have not been through the process if you believe what you are writing.

You really have no knowledge of how this works. Do you really believe that the majority of players get into school on their own? You have to be joking, nobody is that misinformed.

Benn through the process multiple times. The majority didn't have the grades to get in on their own. If your son or daughter has gone through the process and has Excellent Grades and Test scores and the coaches are not willing to help with admissions it is because the coach doesn't think your child can help the team compete.
How many times? Multiple, like 3 or 4 or 5?? Sorry, your story doesn't pass the smell test. You're making up stories.
If your school has naviance, look it up. It is littered with students>100 avg, >1400 sat and rejected from those top schools. Then you will see the outlier and it won't be hard to tell what athlete when there.

Nope! Not at all. Quite the contrary. My kids have excellent grades and we have the $s for college put away. No victim here. The Point being that you still don’t seem to grasp, is the post was discussing how the sport can help a kid have a better opportunity for a college they would not be able to get into with just good grades and money. The sport opens doors … and AGAIN…. No one questioning a kid needs to have good grades! That comes first. No kidding! There is a reason people will hold kids back to give them more opportunity in the sport to get some of those doors opened! You’re in denial if you think they don’t do that!

Those who say you need similar grades compared to everyone else who gets accepted without lacrosse probably have a kid who was not good enough to have a coach push his kid through the admission process. Nothing wrong with that but they will never understand or believe you because they had a different recruiting experience. The less skill a kid has the more helpful grades are and the more skill a kid has the more lesser grades are overlooked. Also every school is different. Division one coaches have more of a chance to push someone through than division three. They also manipulate the system. Top schools will take a 100 average student who will never play but he will off set a low grade top athlete to meet the grades a recruiting class needs. Not all do this but I know for a fact some do. Kids should get the best grades they can so they won’t have to worry if a coach can get them into a school. This is especially so for division three.

Lacrosse is a MAJOR help for a service academy or an IVY. Think 1250 SAT 89-90 average and going to Harvard or Yale. Anyone else needs 1450+ and 98. Same thing with service academies...Getting into Navy (in particular) or West Point (to a lesser extent) without a sport is as hard as getting into a top Ivy. Kids with 85 averages going to service academy prep school and then onto an academy. They are doing an extra year and would not pass the laugh test without lacrosse. So keep practicing boys.....It helps!!!

Hearing that another Nassau lacrosse group/conference realignment is coming. Anyone have any clarity or info. Are they now going to switch conferences every year based on school enrollment and do they really fluctuate that much? There has to be a better way to keep a competitive balance, at least in Nassau. For the blue chip programs they'll remain strong for some of the outliers all it takes is a player or 2 to graduate than they stink the next season.

You fail to mention that you must be a top 10 recruit at your position in the country.

Also, do you need to be a holdback? How many top recruits in each position in the country are “on age”?

Agree you need to be top ten at your position to go to Yale. Harvard has reached down further historically, but that is probably changing with new coach.

You don’t have to be top ten at your spot to go to service academy. Some in that upper echelon may choose to go that route. However, academies reach down much further. They have to as that life is not appropriate for most lax bros out there. Many/most recruits already required to spend a year at the prep school in order to be accepted. A lot of kids also “commit” to an academy and then use it as leverage to flip elsewhere.
