If your daughter was on a top ranked team but didn’t play would you keep them on that team?

If you are asking that here, you know the answer. When you say doesn't play there is your answer. College coaches don't care about the ranking they are there to see them play. It's not like they are going to say but she's on a topped ranked team though so she has to be good. They want to see them play.

No, As the 23's are probably finally learning as we speak, college coaches don't care what team a player is on and they really don't care what that team is ranked. The only thing rankings are good for is marketing a club to the younger players parents who are clueless,

As a prior college coach and now a parent this isn’t true. There were many coaches I spoke with that wouldn’t bother even going to see some clubs because they knew they’d come in too raw to compete as freshman.

While I think your answer may seem harsh to some, it’s somewhat true.. It’s obvious that a coach from a lower club is asking this question and trying to persuade players from better clubs to come play for them.
The true answer is that there are too many variables to simply answer. It depends on the health of the situation on either side of the fence and also what level you are trying to achieve.

Switching clubs at this point can be tricky but when choosing any organization- What is the experience level of the coach with College Women’s lax and recruiting? What is the resume of the head coach and coaches? Parent coaches are a bad idea. The old saying steel cuts steel is paramount. You want your player with and against the best and that includes practice. What is the commitment of the coach and the players all season long? What tourneys is the club attending? Does the club have one team in each age group or multiple and the focus of the recruiting can be washed down. How many practices does.the club have? How are the practices?
Do your homework and don’t listen to the lies on this tread. Take a look at the 2022 class and see who did what with their recruits. Some did very little with a lot and some did a lot with very little. There is a butt for every seat but choose wisely. The YJ parents that are leaving for more playing time and attention are smart and have been very careful. Take a look and you will see.

Very true words spoken. If youre on a team with only parent coaches and have to pay for recruiting help it may be time to leave and find a coach who cares. part of a program where other years are falling apart or the club needs to bring new clubs into their buisness to stay alive? not a good sign. Find a club that is doing well consistently, plays your kid, and has knwoledgable coaches as directors.

I think most high level teams are filled now. If you get an offer to a strong team and hesitate to take it this late into the summer you’re a fool

Very true words spoken. If you're on a team with only parent coaches and have to pay for recruiting help it may be time to leave and find a coach who cares. part of a program where other years are falling apart or the club needs to bring new clubs into their business to stay alive? not a good sign. Find a club that is doing well consistently, plays your kid, and has knowledgeable coaches as directors.

And the best litmus test is to look at how the club did with recruiting their 22 and even their 21 class. It's hard to make a move this late in the game but not impossible. As the prior person stated, some did a little with a lot and some did a lot with a little. You want a recruiting director who is dedicated and connected and can advocate for you. Sometimes this can make a huge difference. Those recruiting directors that have established a positive reputation amongst the college coaches and who know how to get in touch with the college coaches when time is of the essence can be the difference in your daughter being recruited or not. Don't forget your high school coaches too. They can also advocate for your player.

Any team with a parent head coach or co-head coach would be a concern to me. Zero parent coaches on the bench would be ideal. There are a few with none but you need to do your homework.
Also, a club that has never shown a history of recruiting success is a BiG No.

One of the best 2024 LI Teams - YJ Wiener, is not a parent head coach! Head Coach Wiener is not a parent.

Any team with a parent head coach or co-head coach would be a concern to me. Zero parent coaches on the bench would be ideal. There are a few with none but you need to do your homework.
Also, a club that has never shown a history of recruiting success is a BiG No.

Aren't all the yellowjacket teams at this age completely parent coaches?

Despite all the money we pay most travel teams have a parent head coach or co-head coach.. Parent coaches stink!! Legacy, Top Guns and LaxOn Elite only non parent head coach I can think of.. All had good 2022 recruiting classes.

YJ Wiener also has no parent head coaches. And also had a good 2022 recruiting class.

YJ Wiener is the definition of parent coaching. They have two parent coaches who make moves that to benefit their own kids. When the parents are coaching their daughters never come off the field. Watch that team play when Curcio coaches it is a much better team with no nonsense.

Totally disagree! I was watching that Wiener team in the championship game at L4C and the 1 parent coaches kid did not even go in. So, false. Also, I have watched them in a few things to see about that team for trying out purposes and the coaches kids are def. not the ones getting all the playing time. Would really be hard to tell who the coaches kids are, as I did not see clear favoritism on the kids. Maybe a few of the midfielders who seemed to be out there the most

How the heck do you know who is who on a team you aren’t a part of. I don’t even know who is who on my own daughters team half the time. Sounds a bit creepy to me.

If you’re involved in lacrosse at all the kids start to become known easily if they are any good

Exactly, if you have been around LI lacrosse for a few years and looking to maybe switch teams at this age, it’s hard. If you have played these teams, or know other girls on the teams you know who’s who as far as playing goes. Girls pretty much all know each other as well. Especially if you are looking for your daughter to try out for a team at this age! You need to know if she has a chance to play? It’s not creepy, it’a smart to know what’s going on on another team before sending your kid there. This is not 3rd grade!

Elevate is now ranked higher than top guns… too bad elevate lost all their talent and top guns had to resort to a goalie from another state and players cut from other teams to fill their roster. Going to be an interesting fall seeing where these teams land.

Their new players are legacy and bandits cuts, one girl from the 2023 team, and a goalie from Ohio. You must be joking right ?

Let the top guns parent live in their ignorant bliss thinking their 24 group is anywhere near where their past teams were

They don’t have coaches that even give actionable feedback how can you expect them to get better when they just get screamed at and belittled

Having one good player won’t save the rest of a mediocre roster

She needs good wings to win the draw. The TG '23s had great wings. All you need is one superfast/scrappy girl. I'm sure they will be fine

Did O’Sullivan’s daughter leave the team and go to Ramos? How do you explain that to the parents as a coach? ‘I really believe in this team and we can win! I just don’t have any confidence that I can coach this team and didn’t want to see my daughter suffer for it.’

Maybe I am wrong, it just seems like a slap in the face to his players.

It is a slap in the face. Hope those kids bolt knowing that he lacks confidence in the group. Is he even still going to coach them if his kid is on a different team? Maybe he will to get free tuition.

Kids on OSullivan team left. Their best defender went elsewhere. Kildare lost a few as well. Have the bees started to die ?

Team culture has died. All about making$. Some people choose to stink it up and just deal with it. Other's don't.

Was checking 2023 back of the cage to see where some girls were committing and it seems 91 2023 team is about to fold. Bad news for the 24 team if is it does. As far as YJ their top team is still good. A lot of talent bailed so whatever is left on that D team is slim pickins
