Don’t know the data, but with 5 grades now prevalent on the college level, there is likely less spots. A 5th year 23 year old is much more of value it seems than an 18 year old unproven. These coaches are under pressure to run a successful program and I would focus on grad transfers. I think the NCAA should have granted the extra year this year to those seniors, but ended it there.
Some schools will be impacted more than others but it’s simple math and rosters will be crowded for a few more years and due to that the transfer portal will be crowded and because of that coaches will comitt less kids and shop for other spots

This is disgraceful for LI, but just like to top 50 Nassau/Suffolk, it's all political.

Too many S's.One would have sufficed.

Shoreham Wading River and Mount Sinai took down LI UA

Its sad because there are many 2022's that are more deserving than some 2023's especially since a lot of 2022's are still trying to get recruited. Im not saying they aren't good players but I believe some 2022's could have done just a good of a job or even better. But since this LI so lets just hijack the event and make sure there classmates are there too. 50% of team is MS and Shoreham.

Well, that totally backfired! Embarrassing for LI Lacrosse. Also, not fair to the deserving 22’ players who needed exposure in such a tough year with a lost year last year! SELFISH

Even if you take the suffolk team, atl 2022's when they played Nassau they would have ran everyone off the field.

Spallina and Taylor are an embarrassment to youth lacrosse. Crooked.

New coach will have an entirely new staff
What did the massapequa coach do to get fired?

A lot of programs will or already have crowded rosters. But lot of programs won't because the university won't commit additional money to fund any roster expansion for a non-revenue sport.

They would be ill advised not to keep him on.

Not for nothing. But is it just me that if my son came to me and said he wants to do another year of college so he can play lacrosse I’m gonna tell him the wallets open for only 4 years?

That's correct. It's called "take out a loan son".

I feel the same way. But a lot of people don’t. Maybe the job market is still tight for new college grads? Maybe the coach is offering some money for your son to stay an extra year? Maybe your son will able to attend grad school while playing lacrosse?

If the school pays for it the let him stay. The alternative is he is back living with you again not making millions playing lacrosse.

This is one of the reasons why the 2021/22 classes are having a hard time. Take a 5th and 6th year player and pay the proven commodity who can contribute now instead of the ? Freshman.

If his season got cut short Freshman year, then limited season sophomore year, now no guarantees for junior year, yeah son go ahead, I got it.

For all the 2022 kids that committed last September be careful what you wish for!
