What is your guys top 5 in order for NE this season? It seems as if Taft Deerfield and Wick are the top three. I’d be interested to hear what you all think, and why

Taft seems to be on a level alone this season but we'll see how it plays out. 2-4 are interchangeable. Avon and TP could surprise and challenge for next tier. 7-9 All good teams and could move up rapidly in a normal Founders season.
1. Taft
2. Brunswick
3. Deerfield
4. Salisbury
5. Avon Old Farms
6. Trinty-Pawling
7. Westminster
8. Berkshire
9. Loomis
10. Choate
11. Hotchkiss
12. Kent
13. Northfield Mt. Hermon

Founders was split in 2 "divisions". TP plays Brunswick 2x, Avon 4x, Salisbury 2x, Berkshire 2x, Millbrook 2x, Kent 2x. So no Taft, Loomis, Choate, Hotchkiss, Deerfield. Weird season this year for sure but way better than how the prospects looked in winter.

I thought Loomis plays Westminster this coming Sat (4/10). When did they play?

Westminster easily beat Choate last Saturday.

Easily is an understatement. I was very surprised at the blowout. thought it was going to be a 1 or 2 goal game that could have gone either way but it was never close.

Most schools play this weekend but already hearing covid rumblings might cancel some.

That's funny! They'll get better but definitely had their eyes opened. There is no substitute for experience and age. I dont care how good a freshman is it's almost impossible to best a 18-19 year old senior on a regular basis.

Choate guy - now you know how every other team feels about your football team. Tough to play anyone with 12-15 PGs.

Are the 15 PG's on the lacrosse team as well?

The PG limit for football is 8, not 12-15...

No limit for PG's in lacrosse. An entire team could be PG but might deter boys from staying at that school.

Looks like the side with Avon, TP, Salisbury and others plays full 14 games while other side plays much less. Not sure why that is.

There are no “sides” or a “league” this year. That all went out the window with COVId. Schools are just setting the own policies and scheduling accordingly. Some being aggressive and some conservative. At ends of the spectrum, Brunswick has a very aggressive and big schedule, Choate on the other end has 6 games scheduled.

Early Season rankings IMO although season ends in 4 weeks. Hard to do with some schools not playing or barely playing but top school so far is obvious.

1. Brunswick
2. Taft
3. Deerfield
4. Salisbury
5. Avon Old Farms
6. Trinty-Pawling
7. Berkshire
8. Hotchkiss
9. Loomis
10. Westminster
11. Choate
12. Northfield Mt. Hermon
13. Kent

Not many changes this week as lots of split series over the past couple of weekends. Some schools don't post records or only play a handful of games this spring while others play 14-18 which will lead to some strange rankings this season. So far looks like Top 4 are safe then next tier is 2-3 teams then a large drop in play.

1. Brunswick
2. Deerfield
3. Taft
4. Salisbury
5. Avon Old Farms
6. Trinty-Pawling
7. Berkshire
8. Loomis-Chafee
9. Hotchkiss
10. Westminster
11. Choate
12. Northfield Mt. Hermon
13. Kent

Wick, Deerfield and Taft are ALL loaded. 'Wick vs. DA today; Taft vs. Wick 12th; DA vs. Taft 19th. The truth will come out my guess is they each go 1-1... HOW did Wick lose to Lawrenceville ??

Deerfield over Brunswick 12-11. Great game. Deerfield had a 4 or 5 goal lead at one point and Brunswick came roaring back. Strong play all over the field. Both goalies excellent. Brunswick controlled the majority of the faceoffs and had probably 5 or 6 man ups to DA's 1 or 2 but couldn't get it done today. Curious in save totals for each goalie. Brunswick goalie had 6 I counted in the first Q alone... Great fast paced game.

Taft will almost always be loads as will "Wick and Deerfield/Salisbury. Up to next tier i.e AOF and TP to get the best regional players and find diamonds. 3rd tier hopig to get 1 student/year.

Updated rankings:
1. Deerfield
2. Brunswick
3. Taft
4. Salisbury
5. Trinity-Pawling
6. Avon Old Farms
7. Berkshire
8. Hotchkiss
9. Loomis
10. Westminster
11. Choate
12. Northfield Mt. Hermon
13. Kent

Deerfield has been crushing this season. Brunswick real close but a couple of tight losses. Taft could be best team in region but has played a light schedule so far.
Salisbury a little better than TP and AOF which has played a brutal schedule. Huge frop after #6 which could easily flip as TP and AOF play again this weekend after spitting the ealier series. Open for debate.

Taft/Brunswick game very enlightening. Brunswick won 14-7. That was the difference between an elite defensive unit and a so-so defensive unit. Pre-season rankings are just a finger in the air guesstimate based on starred recruits, not on chemistry, coaching or being battle ready. Brunswick played through a gauntlet of stiff competition all spring and had to figure out multiple ways to win, Taft never did, and it showed - their offense ran the same play over and over and forced passes to marked players in the interior the whole game or #25 and #2 took a lot of low angle shots that missed the cage entirely. And I say this with the knowledge that Deerfield is probably the best team in the country now.

Deerfield has a gauntlet to run to hold on to that #1 spot, but if they do, then I think they have earned it. Salisbury, Salisbury, Taft, Belmont. Good luck with that. Don't write any rankings in stone, I predict additional movement at the top of the leaderboard to come!

Deerfield took both vs. Salisbury. 8-6 Friday, 11-4 Saturday in a non-competitive game. Malvern Prep over Brunswick was impressive.

IMO Rankings week 7

1. Deerfield
2. Brunswick
3. Salisbury
4. Taft
5. Avon Old Farms
6. Trinity-Pawling
7. Berkshire
8. Hotchkiss
9. Loomis
10. Westminster
11. Kent
12. Choate
13. Northfield Mt Hermon

Deerfield running the table so far on a crazy schedule. "Wick not far behind. Salisbury ahead of Taft due to much tougher schedule and Taft getting trounced by "Wick. AOF and TRinity-Pawling basically same team but gave edge to AOF with tough schedule although lesser W/L record. Berkshire firm #7 then steep drop after #8. Open for debate as always.

Final D1 NE West Rankings

1. Deerfield
2. Brunswick
3. Taft
4. Salisbury

5. Avon Old Farms
5. Trinity-Pawling

7. Berkshire
8.Hotchkiss

9.Loomis Chaffee
10.Westminster
11.Kent
12.Choate
13. Northfield Mt Hermon

Basically did last rankings in 4 tiers. Deerfield was a little better than Brunswick who smoked Taft. TP and AOF sooo close at 5 decided to go to head-to head but they split 4 games! Big drop from those 2 to Berkshire and larger drop after that to next tier. Good luck to all the boys over the summer and see you next spring!

DA, Wick, Taft and Sals were all incredibly deep and talented teams. A few bounces, pipes or calls the other way could've swung outcomes to a different result. That being said, NE Prep lacrosse is elite. Though nationally unknown, Belmont Hill was also exceptional (ask Taft...) but unrecognized. If there is a team out there that could beat Deerfield, well then they would be tops, but no evidence to suggest there is unless there is some outlier west of the Mississippi!

Rankings look pretty good. Hard to make may changes. Maybe next year add in ISL which includes teams such as Belmont Hill or St Sebs.

Not disputing Taft isn't a great team but St. Johns Fogo was injured and I don't think they won more than 3 faceoffs the entire game and still only lost by a few. It s a shame he was injured. Even the night before they went 4 for 26 at the faceoff x and but won because of goalie and defense. They were asking a lot of their goalie and defense.

Should be intersting next year as tons of D1 and D3 talent leaves the league. Will we see another huge wave of PG's and reclasses?

I thought the game vs Culver was a much better, faster game. The final game was pretty slow and dreadfully boring. One of the few bright spots for Taft was their goalie, who is the best I’ve seen in high school. What I found interesting, was the announcers, pointing out certain reckless penalties caused by the Taft attack unit in both games.
