Some people on here predicted GC was not going to be as strong as in the past. It will be interesting to see if they are correct as the season goes on.

"Port Washington beat Garden City today."
"MacArthur beat Massapequa today."
CSH beat Wantagh.

Each of these results if true would seem to be upsets?

GC could not come back from the beating they got in the first half and especially the first quarter. If PW would have kept the pressure on in the second half GC would have lost by a lot more. The outcome of this game was never in doubt.

Port embarrassed Garden City. Made them look silly. Beat them in every aspect of the game. This is not a good Garden City team. There was nothing from that game that would make any neutral person think that Garden City could ever beat Port Washington.

Why hasn't the MacArthur / Massapequa game not been posted in Newsday, MacArthur or Massapequa websites ?

Relax Schreiber daddy, you've been awful for years, one good season doesn't make up for the pathetic program Schreiber has fielded for over a decade. Next year will be the same old Schreiber.

Maybe MacArthur is a much better than you think. This season has already seen some head scratching wins and losses on both sides. Teams across the board don't look sharp. Will be interesting to see how things progress around mid season.

2 games into their "varsity career"..... Give it a little time before you move on.
Also, not an excuse, but Pequa is missing kids that haven't been able to get in the needed # of practices due to football extending so long

Cant even be used as a reason - anyone playing in football was automatically eligible to play their spring sport. There was no minimum number of practices needed. Either way, come June, they will be battle tested and on point.

Right, because there is no such thing as "Port" it's Paul D. Schreiber High School

Right, because there is no such thing as "Port" it's Paul D. Schreiber High School

Schreiber HS's teams have always been referred to as Port Washington (for whatever reason) going back at least 25 years.

Going forward you have seen and will continue to see, much more parity with other towns improving and beating the Mann's and GC's of the world. I believe that many of the towns have caught up with the $ and hold back aspect along with getting top training for their boys. Its all good for LI lax.

Yes and for obvious reasons, it is the only HS that serves Port Washington residents. port / schreiber are interchangable when referencing any of their HS teams...

I think it’s a little early for that statement. How many years have we seen this parity? This year? Certainly not the last 20.

It's obvious why they go by Port, though to me it's not obvious why they're the only one. There are plenty of eponymous high schools on Long Island that go by their HS name and not the "town" name: Carey, Mepham, Calhoun, etc.

Not the only one and what difference does it make? And all of this started because of someone’s nasty comment. Let’s just move along!

As a real estate professional I can tell you the primary reason is the changing demographics of these towns. Generation families living in their hometown are no longer the norm. Families moving in do not get involved in the traditional activities of these towns. Subtle enough?

Newsday is the worst for scores and schedules. Half the games are not reported the others are often incorrect. Is there a better resource for getting updates.
