Mid-pack MIAA team in the end.

Very early in the pre-season. Once the early film is out (first MIAA games) on the teams, only those without gaping weaknesses will make the semis. Its all about depth, balance and no gaping holes. A bad FOGO or keeper can doom you. So can a really bad group of SSDMs who can't defend or clear the ball. A disruptive LSM or better yet a pair of them plus two stud SSDMs can make an average close D look great. Coaching can disguise the gaping holes but the smart coaches can probe and find Achille's heel. The whole is greater than the sum of parts.

Thank you for this analysis. Even more helpful would be an explanation of why an elderly coach from another era of lacrosse is tweeting out scrimmage scores for a random high school team. Does he have a grandchild on the team? Seems very odd.

There is a huge difference between a weekend scrimmage in Feb and playing under the lights in May.

The final score was 13-9. All the boys were there (Cottle, Ripley, Kelly)...didn't seem too happy with their investment...

While you have been watching the calendar, they have been hitting the wall!

some teams have been having "senior" or "captains" practices outside of school for the past month.

Ripley wasn't an official coach until just recently so he has been able to run practices without violating any rules.

Nice. I bet this will give the Cavs the edge they need to get past Broadneck this season.

I heard that Spalding bought some of the best players from Brodneck also.

Not sure why any school would want a dad coach unless they were part of the faculty/administration at the school and had already been in that coaching position. It’s a recipe for disaster.

Calvert Hall, St Mary's, and McDonogh all have Dad's coaching.

The CHC and SM dad coaches are alumni of the schools and both were coaching at their schools well before their own sons were in the program. These guys were also the two head coaches in the most recent A conference championship game. Very different situation than the Misfit Toy Circus down at New Cut.

Even with coaches having been in place for a while, it can still be hairy putting you son on the team or playing them over other kids. Look at Tierney at Princeton and Broc at St. Paul.

Not as many elite fogos in the A conference as in years past.

Sleep on STM if you want. Gonna beat Spalding by 6.
At least 6.

Hilarious. This is Spalding's year. Spalding takes StM this year by 4-5. Heard it here first.

We also heard it here first that Spalding would be great in previous years. Those predictions were spot on lol. STM actually has good coaches and talent, but Spalding has neither.
STM’s defense is gonna take Spalding’s collection of MIAA A misfit toys to school.

STM also recruited at least 3 other D1 kids from other schools for the season.

How badly is St. Paul's regretting firing Coach Broc?

Zero, ,Program was going nowhere his last many years. His stale offense was getting nothing along with a D that couldnt stop anyone.

Broc has Towson in a position where they could beat St. Pauls this year. No doubt.

Hilarious. Broc is as stale and predictable at Towson as he was at ST Pauls.

This is based on his body of work consisting of zero games played since he arrived?

Saint Paul’s is not looking great this year, but Towson just doesn’t have the talent yet

Yet? Are they planning an out of state recruiting drive? Remote learning with promise of eventually getting back into the trailers is a big draw for the talent. wink

Towson is only using "on age" kids that grew up within a couple miles of the school - the way high school sports should be played.
