In preparation for the meeting, the Board had asked for feedback from the full membership, outlining their thoughts on winter and spring options. There was overwhelming interest in offering “opportunity” for our winter-season athletes, beginning February 1, 2021. In addition, two other elements were apparent, (1) the IAAM membership did not want a deep overlap with winter and spring sports seasons and (2) the IAAM membership wants to do everything possible to ensure a full spring season beginning March 1, 2021.

The official Start Date for the winter season is February 1, 2021 and will run through March 13, 2021. Please note, due to the closure of Prince Georges Sports and Learning Complex, the IAAM will not be able to offer an Indoor Track and Field season but look forward to a robust spring season of Outdoor Track and Field.

The IAAM will lift the Out of Season practice policy and allow winter workouts beginning Monday, January 19, 2021. This opportunity is strictly for workouts as a school. This would not support early scrimmages or contests.

Our goal remains the same for our winter season, as it was for our fall season; to create and promote opportunities for our student-athletes. That said, we are aware of local jurisdiction constraints and restrictions on athletics and gatherings. Further, we will continue to monitor local jurisdiction plans to possibly extend their current restrictions.

The week of January 11, 2021 will be a pivotal one for the IAAM. During the week of January 11, 2021, the IAAM Board will revisit specifics around a February 1, 2021 Winter Start date, as well as securing logistics information regarding interest in league play versus independent scheduling, all the while, acknowledging the importance of health and safety concerns of our Member Schools.

Please know that the IAAM remains committed to supporting opportunities that strengthen the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our student-athletes.
Just buying time trying to avoid the beatdown they will get when they cancel sports. If you honestly believe they are going to open up sports at the exact time they shut life down a year prior, start using your brain. It's not going to happen. MIAA and IAAM organized sports will not be back until at least Sept 2021. Remember this post.

Ridiculous. By March 1st, the vaccine will have been distributed to enough of the population to open things up.

Are you asking about the when sports stopped or why sports stopped? It stopped in March because the virus hit the US full tilt. I'd go as far as to say, if the Utah Jazz player doesn't get the virus at that moment, the NCAA tournament woulda continued. Canceling of HS and youth sports was a reaction to canceling the Pro and College sports.

We didn't know what we were dealing with back in March.

TBH, there's zero reason why outdoor youth sports should no be happening right now. After the holiday spike, the numbers of hospitalizations will drop and they will slowly open things up, starting with outdoor sports.

The virus hit the USA in March, that is the only reason why they shut down in March, has zero to do with what March 2021 will look like.

People are indoors now moreso than in summer, that is why cases are spiking, not to mention college kids returning home, holiday gatherings, etc. IT will be much better by March, esp as we add vacinated people into the mix.

IAC has formally canceled sports through January. They will hold a January assessment to see how the numbers and vaccination distribution are at that time.

Cases are spiking because they have allowed the faulty rapid test (25% - 30%) to be included as true cases and have allowed "probable" cases and don't distinguish between repeat tests and individual tests in the case counts. The objectionable term is "spiking" and not gentle increase which is in dispute.

Hospitalizations have increased but not at the same rate as would be expected given the "spiking" along with the rush to the hospitals when someone is diagnosed. The media's fear mongering have forced very low symptomatic and asymptomatic cases among the healthy population to think they are going to die so they rush to the hospital. Hospital stays for covid treatment have shortened tremendously.

The curve of new cases will be inverse to the amount of vaccinations being distributed. March 1st is definitely in play for lacrosse.

Pittman's edicts expire on January 13th. Let's hope Larry gets the vaccine where it needs to go to make everyone feel 100% safe so our neighbors can open their businesses and our kids can get back to school.

He already said it could go past March. He doesn’t sound very confident that things will change.

COVID is settling and we have learned how to live with it. Vaccine is here. Flu season in full swing and we are doing fine- already on the decline. February-March flu will be fine too. Lacrosse, sports, and school will be back to normal this spring. Fans in the stands bc prohibiting them does nothing to help.

Covid or no Covid. Next month or ten years from now, they should continue to have parents wear masks.

Where exactly do you live? Howard County had games and tournaments all summer and they are planning a season and taking registrations right now in anticipation of numbers dropping. Virginia is playing indoor sports because they know the covid and fatality rate is actually less right now than it was the last few years. Many MD counties are playing indoor sports right now.

AA County isn’t doing any of those things.

Along with required wearing mussel under mask. Only problem I see, it is hard for the officials to know what to call without the fans input !

Did they get all the transfers they tried to pay? If not they should hope the season is canceled.

Illegal to pay for players in MIAA. Transfers are becoming part of the sports landscape now in MIAA and will continue to grow,

Spalding will be fine with or without transfers.

I've never read of a single instance of a liability lawsuit of injury related to ages. Move along.

Litigation? Clowns

You sign waivers for a reason. If you think it’s unsafe then don’t let your soft kid play.

I recommend Jackie Chiles if you need any injury litigation. Man is a legend and will gladly take your case, plus his Doctor Bison is great at confirming your injury for trail.
