Due to safety and health concerns related to the recent surge in cases of COVID-19, US Lacrosse has postponed the upcoming tryouts for the U.S. women’s national team. The tryouts had been scheduled to be hosted at US Lacrosse headquarters from Dec. 4-6, 2020.

A total of 50 players were invited to the tryouts, which will be the first phase of naming the squad that will represent the United States at the upcoming World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship, hosted by US Lacrosse at Towson University.

There were a number of safety factors at play in the decision, including the overall rise in cases nationally, tryout candidates coming from states with high positivity rates, quarantine issues related to state-to-state travel and a limitation on the size of gatherings.

A revised schedule for the tryouts will be announced at a later date.

The United States has won the last three World Lacrosse championships (2009, 2013 and 2017) and has won a record eight World Cups since the championship was first contested in Nottingham, England in 1982.

The U.S. women’s national team trains and plays using best-in-class products provided by Nike (apparel and footwear), Gait (equipment), STX (equipment), Maverik (equipment), Cascade (goalie helmets), SISU Guard (mouthguards), Pearl Lacrosse (balls) and DJO (sports braces).

In addition to these partners, Hudl, MedStar Sports Medicine and Sports Performance Tracking are official sponsors of the U.S. national team program. Team training is also aided by products from Motive Pure, NormaTec Recovery and Athletic Republic.
