Compare these numbers.

For Patchogue-Medford : 18, 6, 25, 24, 15, 16, 20, 14, 21, 12, 19, 8, 22, 23

For Sachem East : 1, 5, 17, 6, 19, 7, 15, 13, 4, 23, 3, 16, 2, 11

These are the positions against which each team's opponents finished in Division I (Class A). Patchogue-Medford took seven of their wins against the bottom eight teams in the league including a loss to Commack. Meanwhile, Sachem East played six of the top seven finishing teams in the league this season.

It is clearly strength of schedule.

As for common opponents, both played Middle Country and William Floyd. Patchogue-Medford defeated Middle Country, 6-3, and William Floyd, 13-5. Meanwhile, Sachem East defeated Middle Country, 12-5, and William Floyd, 11-10.

The Chiefs let Easy Meadow hang around for a long time, East Meadow played their hearts out - I still think that Massapequa wins the chance to lose to WM but they will need to play better to beat the Dalers'

Any love for NJ High School lax? Best teams (not saying all or most teams) as good as the best on LI? Delbarton over Chaminade and St. Ants, Don Bosco beats St. Ants handily, Summit would compete very well as well.

Feel free to post daily playoff results from New Jersey. If sufficient interest exists, we can certainly start a new board here on BOTC to cater specifically to the New Jersey High School scene now and continue that into next season.

The game and talent is spreading.Parity in many areas and stronger youth programs is helping the game. Just as you see from the college level down, many great players playing all over. Its a game of anybody can win on any given day. The days of the elite year after year winners are over. The privates are also being faced with a weaker economy and more players staying in their home districts.

I think the point is that Express feeds St. A's, and a lot of people chose not to pay Express-like fees. Which might mean some better players (even those that can afford to pay Express but choose not to) play for other clubs (or just their towns), and end up playing in HS somewhere other than St. A's.

A complete outsider here but is a 3 seed beating a 2 seed really that big of an upset? Was there that big of a dropoff between 1 and 2 to 3 and 4. From looking at the class A 1-4 seemed like they are all good teams.

Although one of the port coaches did a gesture with both hands pulling across the chest like Hulk Hogan, is that the class you are referring to?

<<Content Editted - Player References>>

Petro is not easy going when it comes to goalies as we saw with this year's "open competition".

Probably referring to the multiple slash calls against Syosset in the last few minutes due to frustration.

bitter are you? what i meant is that Port played a clean game and "Syo" did not. They showed poor sportsmanship on the field and in the bleachers. so funny how you become so twisted and hot and bothered by 5 simple stated words. great imagination though.....

Don't lose sight of this fact: Regardless of how the lax works out, the kid is getting an education from Hopkins... In the end, that's really all that matters. They all stop playing at some point. Be respectful, wish the young man well.

I saw both teams (Port and Syo) play this year. I thought Port was the better team overall, not by much, but better. However, I felt that Ports faceoff man gave them a clear advantage in terms of possesion.

Let's not turn this into a war of words. Syosset is a great program. They have won numerous county championships in recent years. Port's coach used to be an Asst. Coach at Syossset. He is doing a great job. Port was the better team last night and deserved the win. Hopefully we'll see a good championship game.
