The roster on the Loyola website disagrees: https://www.loyolablakefield.org/Te...sonLabel=2019%20-%202020&siteId=1013

Nope. Different kid. One Looneys 23 made varsity (the only Freshman on varsity), most of the rest of the kids at Loyola made JV, with a couple on the Freshman team.

Ok. He's not listed on the website, but apparently you have the inside scoop.

Wrong no Freshman made Varsity at Loyola. Kid was brought up due to injuries after rosters were set.

So....he was on varsity! He was chosen over the other freshman and sophomores and any JV juniors.

Looks like Koopers charitably offered spots to the remaining Looneys Green players needing a team.

Why would parents/players want to be the 2nd, 3rd or some cases 4th line on a team? Does the name of the team mean more than playing meaningful minutes? Any roster with more than 20-22 kids is too much (even if you're kid is the 1st line).

2-Goalies
6-Attack
6-Mid
4-Def
1-lsm
1-hybrid-lsm-shortstick D/Def

If your son is not 1st or 2nd line, they should absolutely be looking at teams like Roughriders, True/Kelly Post, HLC, Hoco and Rock.
If not, have fun enjoying your son play 2 minutes a game for the next 3 years.... That's a great way for high schoolers to spend their youth.

Although my understanding is that the Rock 23 has 40+ kids and is going to create ad hoc teams for each tournament. Kind of an interesting approach. Good in that it lets them match talent levels to each tournament, and also introduces some intra-team competition. But it certainly makes it harder to build a cohesive team.

You get better competing against better players day in and day out at practice with good coaching, than being on a lower level team and getting more minutes at the three or four tourneys in the summer. But, to each his own.

You are absolutely correct but that only works in high school and college where the better players typically are upperclassmen that will eventually graduate. Leaving open spots for kids that worked their way up.

In the case of club you are playing with kids the same grade that unless they move ore reclass aren't going anywhere. If your kid isn't getting minutes for a "elite" team the likely hood of them getting recruited is tough. Unless dads are taping practice they need field time. And as far as coaching goes if a team has more than 20 players the kids aren't getting the reps in practice. But as you said to each his own.

Looneys Green parents upset that R cut their kids after a tryout. Also, a beef between some Looneys Orange parents and a R dad of kid cut years ago.

Orange team parents don't have a beef with anyone. All made up here. The boys who left are all in places where they have a better chance to thrive.

IN other words...they sat the bench for Looneys so they went to Rock where they would actually get some playing time. Thanks for the thoughtful insight.

I am sure that kids at Koopers, Hawks, Crabs, Rock, Breakers, etc, earn their spots. Unlike Looneys daddy ball. Get over yourselves. Unless your a Don you will go nowhere. Why rip on kids that got the rug pulled out from under them.

This is a ridiculous statement. Until this past summer and unlike other clubs, Looneys (especially the 23 team) ran legit tryouts where the best kids were selected. Every year friends of the coaches and even kids of the coaches were not selected. School affiliation has nothing to do with it. Your kid was cut over a year ago. You need to get over it.

Oh, ok that’s so not true. Legitimate tryouts my ###. Kids had been cut that were better then dads or friends kids. Just own it. Looneys now is nothing like it was. Trying had to get all the Loyola boys. How much did your new coach have to do with it, oops, forgot he was a club team no show. All Looneys kids should just look for a better program. Only time will tell if it will last, a few more seasons. Flat B is always looking for talent. Maybe one day you will beat a quality team. Stay in your Towson safety zone, leave the real lax for the rest of us.

There were kids of assistant coaches that got cut in past. I think that's what's being referred to

I am not sure who is commenting for the Orange Team, but I have friends on Orange and the now gone Green team. I am so glad we stayed in AA county and never switched to Looneys. There is always someone running their mouth. You can’t argue that both teams had dad coaches way too long. Orange still does. It was absolutely sinful that looneys killed the Green team and left those kids hanging. I hope they all got on other teams. Oh by the way they had a lot of great players. I doubt they were picked up to fill roasters. How about you guys move on and let’s see how your record goes this year. Lacrosse is a character building sport, I can tell that a lot of you commenting never played just by the way you talk about kids.

a lot of the Green teams issue was the daddy ball The team bled players because the coach of twins had his sons on the field far more than they should have been. They were good players, but not head and shoulders better to warrant their playing time. Kids move on when they realized they are being hosed and treated unfairly. Breakers, Rock and True have all benefitted from the mismanagement of the Green team, they all picked up decent lax players.
