Some are and some aren't and some only certain age groups. Need to contact the organization you are interested in directly

East end elite coach yelling "whoop" everytime opposing team goes to catch the ball is classless. Be better

This must be your first tournament if that is the most classless thing you've seen at one of these

Teams with a ton of holdbacks or teams just loading a younger team blatantly with older kids bothers me more. Albeit out of state teams are the main offenders .

Yes, very good club with great coaches. The older kids are well developed. Call to discuss.

I know common off Long Island but how prevalent are holdbacks or outright teams having older age kids on travel teams on LI?

They'll replace top players along the way to stay at the top. That's how they operate. No team chemistry. Look at all the older groups... big and holdbacks.

How can the older kids be well developed, playing less than a total of 20 mins during a 3 game tournament. Kids are often used of of position. Waste of money!

Stop with the nonsense that 91 looked the best out there. The Shamrox looked below average at best and played in the worst bracket. S2S Grizzlies looked best, Igloo A looked good also. CSH Roar continues to think they are good but who prove they are just a town team. Express Snyder looked very good and got cheated into a tie when the game vs GC was stopped and told no checking allowed, else they’d have gone 3-0

You hit the nail on the head, even when 91 can’t hide in their own weal lollipop tournaments they seem to weasel their way through a tournament in the worst brackets. Then come on here and say they looked great and nobody can beat them, blah, blah, blah

91 Shamrox is a C team. Obviously they would have been decimated by any of the 4 teams in the top bracket- Igloo A, S2s, Legacy and even Roar.

Express Snyder went 2-1. The better town teams are better than them. GC and certainly Roar. Get a life.

Not sure i would call Shamrox a c team based on the way they ran through the three teams they played.. regardless of how weak the competition were.

Yup .....shamrox is not a c team and rage is not a b team. We understand, heard it all before. Probably a good 100 times. And before you say it.....I'll say it for you. Yes , I am very jealous , yes my son didn't make a 91 team and he stinks at lacrosse . Hahaha, see I just spared you from having to write that. You seem to have it all figured out.

No Dad, they really are a C team. It’s okay, at least your boy gets to play instead of watching from the sideline.

I know, i know.. It's very simple to figure three teams in a grade = a, b, & c.. Anything beyond that is mind-boggling..

ROAR is beyond overrated. GC got 3 of their 4 goals right after the game was stopped because “fire marshall complained about the contact” . . . Yet no other game was stopped. Must be the Garden City home field advantage.

Express Snyder play ROAR Saturday in CT, so we shall see who’s a better team . . .

Oh and please stop talking about Shamrox. They beat Rebels Red and ICON, who had kids on those teams that can’t catch and throw on those teams.

To your point no team that has WSYL aspirations would build their team with holdbacks. Not a lot of holdbacks on the NY teams at this age anyway since NY state discourages holding kids back. The teams with lots of private school kids in MA, CT, PA and MD tend to be the teams with the most holdbacks.

For the great talent evaluator....s2s didn't look good, nor did igloo, both were sloppy. When a team beats bad teams doesnt make them good. Rage is a b team and shamrox is a c team.

It was mentioned that the bigger clubs that offer A & B teams don't necessarily nurture/care about the B teams. What are your thoughts of this in regards to Eclipse?

Eclipse I believe is from CT. We have played them but have no idea the answer to your question. The craziest system with AB C D is Laxachussets

WOW....trouble in 91 kool aid ville , the supposed "A" team rage lost to a town team from long island lol, then barely beat express who from what i heard has about 6 players that can actually play. Wake up people......poorly coached teams and weak tournaments can only take you so far, unfortunately you are exposed when you play teams with better coaching. No number one finger in the air today

"How'd the roar game go ? Lol....thanks for asking. Roar beat rage 8-7. Is that the game you're referring to ? Lol , looks like you spoke a little too soon 91 dad. Let the excuses begin"

I was referring to the Roar/Snyder game. Nothing directed towards 91. "Snob"? You fired the first shot at Roar/CSH. No one was on here waving a flag or touting the team; just simply responded to your over rated comment AFTER the games were played. Hater...

Hi, welcome to 91 where we have the best teams on the planet . If anyone else tells you otherwise they are jealous, sour grapes , can't make our teams but wish they could . Now here is your schedule, we play in our own tournaments against horrible teams because we put out 20 tournaments and nobody even decent comes to play. But hey you'll win the tournaments and get a t shirt and you can tell your friends that you won every tournament . It's ok if the kids dont develop playing bad teams , the shirts are worth it . We are amazing .

Keep spewing the party lines , you're a great student to the propoganda teachers at 91

Surprised CSH beat Rage but these kids are 11 so anything can happen since there is not a ton of separation on most of these teams. Good for them. I think parents get to wrapped up on a win or loss here or there as if just that win is the be all and end all. Many of these teams would beat each other if they got to play each other more often.

Brutal day for the dream team aka 91 machine ....tried to play some A teams and got stomped badly ......stay in your lane next time and stick to the bad 2026 B teams . Yes, machine is a phenomenal team one of the top 3 in the country for 2027 but please stop pretending that you "play up with A teams" it's not good for the brand and the coaches health , heard they were literally on their knees yelling at the kids in panic mode . Not a good look

The past years some of these tryouts were the best bang for your buck.

Could also be a ploy from the parents if those two kids , happens every year . The parents will take their kid to another tryout knowing it will get right back to 91 literally within minutes .....then 91 calls the parents and say " where are you going your spot is secure " . Same stuff different year

I agree ...who cares . Happens every year . A player is not happy with playing time and toes to show his face at another clubs tryout , gets back to 91 within minutes. 91 then gets them on the phone and says " what's wrong , things will be different don't leave " and the kid stays at 91. Not to single out 91 but it happens with all of them.

No reason to speak in code ..... everyone knows . 91 had a mass exodus. 91 rage lost 7 players and machine lost one all to express . With a few to shore to shore . Sounds like people were fed up playing second fiddle to machine and with questionable coaching decisions.

Not a 91 parent, but I don't understand why you would bash a team for playing up? What's it to you? Perhaps they do that so as not to play the 2nd team from their own program thus giving that 2nd team a better chance to win. Definitely not a 91 fan, but that certainly is not a reason for me to bash them. I f coaches think its makes their team better, have at it.

Ok. As you wish.....machine tried to play 2026 A teams and got stomped on. Like that better ? That wasnt the point of the post . Point was , they got a little ahead of themselves...can beat bad 2026 B teams but can't handle 2026 A teams .

As you have mentioned you don't know much about 91. The reason for the explanation is that they are very arrogant and boast loudly about their machine team that " plays up ". They play 2026 B teams and boast about playing up , however they haven't come across the A teams ....and I'm sure they won't make that mistake again . You're right , playing up should be good for them , but you would need to hear them to really understand why someone would point that out .

the problem is that you have other 2026 A teams that go into a tourney with the hopes of playing other really good A teams in the 2026 bracket and they get stuck playing a 2027 team. why is it fair for them to have to play a weaker team. In your scene then every A team should just play up. no team should be allow to play up in a tourney that the teams pay to play in.

No. At every age group from '19's on down there are probably 2-3 LI teams that are head and shoulders better than their on age competition-usually from the 91 or LIE programs that beat ALL their local competition and 50% of the competition at least a grade up, so I understand them playing up rather than get paired vs. a mediocre on age team and winning 15-2 at a local tournament because for the most part, the MD teams don't come up to LI for tournaments.

It's clearly a money grab ....tryouts are over ...take a break from lacrosse and pick it back up in September instead of going to one of these money grab camps where they advertise "come train with the best and you'll get better " lol. Give me a break . Also....just an FYI...one of the bigger clubs was surprised at the exodus after tryouts so also using these camps as a supplemental tryout without the embarrassement of calling it a supplemental tryout .

From what I'm hearing, it sounds like a bunch of parents got tired of bowing down to the long haired greaseball of 91 and have left. Some going to Express and some going to Legacy or S2S ... what are the total losses?

Heard the same thing ....at least 10 kids (that I know of ) from the beloved machine and rage . Has to be a real blow to the ego of BS. People finally woke up. No more daddy ball and massapequa ball to worry about , good for those who left , good players that will now make other teams better .

Most A teams can prob play up a year and beat most B and C teams. what does that prove. Those teams clearly aren't as skilled and are still learning which is why they are on those teams. I guess the only good thing about them trying to play against 2026 A team is the 2026 teams get a chance to play all there players for a chance.

Will the clubs make money if they blow up their roster sizes past the traditional 21/22 or so?

Does anyone know if there are still some above average kids still not committed ?? I see a few teams are still having tryouts. I know tonight the Hitmen 2027 is still looking. I am trying to get my son on a good team and I am headed to that tryout tonight.

A roster of 25-27 is way too big. Many kids will not see the field ever or very limited. A team that big will have alot of backups.

Can see that and learned several have done same. Wasn't expecting such a jump but not surprised. Only a year commitment. Will see how year plays out.

The Hitmen 2027 team tryout last night was really good. They are in need of a Goalie, but the B team is pretty good. It's going to be a fun season. I was told they will still be holding tryouts for another week or so. They have a small team right now, so I know they are still looking and they are at a good price as well.

Roster size by itself isn't indicative of the full picture. 25 is a good max though but it also depends on the makeup of the roster. You may have 27 kids on the sideline, but what is there participation? Are 3-4 guys there as practice/development players? Are they getting equal time? If every position is fully stacked and balanced than a team of 25 isn't too much and still leaves plenty of PT for everyone AND let's players rest over the course of a 4,5, 6+ game tournament.

Your math isn't very good. 25 on a team means about 10 minutes a game for middies at this age level. Or it means 15 minutes for the good middies and about 1 shift a half or less for the end of the bench. Same goes for attack and D. About 10 minutes of real play time for each player for kid or 20 minutes for the top 3 and about 5 minutes for the last 3. I hardly call that enough PT for everyone at these prices.

As I said, the makeup of that 25 is what matters, not that it tops out at 25. I preface this with this is one IDEAL of a roster. It will not always be this and this is my opinion based on years of building club rosters....

5 Attack (X, crease, lefty and righty, with some combo of those. At least 2 lefties and 2 righties + Crease or X guy)
2 Goalies - whether they split or starter/backup you will always need 2
7 offensive middies. 2 full solid lines, plus 1 fill in (especially true if one of those is also a FO guy high scoring games, he WILL need a break)
3-4 SSDMs (this is a spot for lesser skilled O mids, but still good athletes. Also Ideal for FO Unit work - guys that can get your a GB and get it to your O - If you want to reduce roster size, this is a place to do it, but it will gas your mids if you are only running with 6-7 mids)
1-2 FO guys (flexibility here if you have a mid that also FO but solid, TRUE FOGOs rest your mids
2 LSMs
5 Defensemen

That's about 25, give or take depending on the makeup of talent and skills of your players.

You also have to assume some of the following:
- 10-15% of your roster will be unavailable for one reason or another either full tourney, game-to-game or even in-game. That's 3-4 not available at any given time so you are really at 21
- you are playing 3-5 games a day/weekend at 50 minutes a pop that is plenty of playing time for all.
- you should have 2 solid middie lines that basically split time.
- the attack or defenseman who aren't in should be ready to ball on man-up or man-down. The D especially. Always nice to have fresh legs to go on man down.
- this also gives you maximum matchup flexibility based on opponents/game outcomes.
- this allows at least one player at each position to be a "developmental" player. A guy who isn't quite there yet, but will be soon.
- One MAJOR thing left out: Practice: it is very hard to get everything done in practice when the roster is small to begin with and not everyone is there.

I don't dispute this especially for College teams and most HS teams. However I have varying confidence that the average travel coach can balance a roster like that even if you had those role players filling in those spots.

Right now I think many cannot plus I see teams use a LSM who really is just a defenseman who doesn't run well and they would be better served with a fast athletic middie with a short stick if that is who you plan to use. Also I observe teams with a true fogo but the kid is a liability on offense but stays on the field way too long. So again not being argumentative because you are correct but I am not sure with a select bunch of 11 years olds

my kid plays on an express team w 25+ kids. Yes, it's a calamity at the tournaments. But, you don't pay 3-4K for tournaments only. The training and practices really helped him develop. Would i love to see him play all game every game? Yes, but i had that already when he played on a crappy team. To me, the bigger more important question is - how does he continue to improve? And he's doing so, so there is no complaint (yet).

That could be alright, but how many times does your team practice a week in fall, spring and winter?

With that many on the roster, you can scrimmage like crazy. Kids could really develop if they “played” a lot during practices. Let them run until their tongue falls out

Can see that and learned several have done same. Wasn't expecting such a jump but not surprised. Only a year commitment. Will see how year plays out.

I hardly call that enough PT for everyone at these prices.

my kid plays on an express team w 25+ kids.

THIS is what is often lost in this, particularly at the youth level. You aren't paying to go to tournaments - YES that is a part of the entire cost, but it is about becoming a better PLAYER. If your son or daughter is better in July than he or she was in September, it was money well spent. Even if you lost every game. So many - especially the keyboard warriors on these type of forums - only focus on the best team and how many wins a team has. While that is a measurement, it isn't the only metric.

What is the general tKe on 2Way? Are they still considered second tier? B level team? Or are they able to compete with PT and Eclipse?

I wouldn't say B team, they are better than that, but they aren't yet hanging with PT or Eclipse either

I heard 91 machine lost some significant talent. Can anyone confirm how many and to where? And did Machine pick up new kids from tryouts, or did they pull from the Rage team?

That is correct . Rage and machine both lost kids ....and the kids that left machine left willingly . 3 kids left machine I believe and 7 or so eft rage . Most of the rage kids went to express along with one machine kid . Some rage kids went to shore 2 shore too.

Apparently people got fed up with daddy ball and massapequa ball . Weren't too fond of some coaching decisions either . Had enough .

Apparently BS made a lot of phone calls practically begging all of the kids who left to come back .....dads had enough of hearing the same excuses year after year so they decided to go . Good for them . They finally wised up to all of the propoganda being put out at 91. Rage is now a depleted B team .

91 has become an insane daddy ball club. I think machine has 6 daddy coaches. That’s 6 kids who need to be taken care of. Even if they don’t deserve it. The 2026 team has 5 dad coaches. 2028 team 5 dad coaches. 2029 team 8 dad coaches. Your kid could easily get screwed on one of these teams because of so many dad coaches.

You have to love paying $3K plus to have a daddy coached team. It stinks... you can't get your kid on the field because daddy coach's kid is the next Paul Rabil, you can't talk smack on the sideline because daddy coach's wife is sitting there, and head coach probably grew up / played with / went to AA with the daddy coach... so you've basically got no leverage.

Happens all the time and will continue to happen . Daddy ball/massapequa ball/big brother is a stud ball .....91 is a joke and eventually the kids and parents wake up and smell.the coffee. This year it was machine and rage with people waking up .

never posted before; likely never will again…. my son didn't leave 91 because of limited playing time, poor direction, parental coaching conflicts. he left because at just 11 he is uber-curious about a lot of things, including other lacrosse clubs, potential success at other positions, etc. his time with the club was positive, largely a result of the love he felt from the coaches over the years-he had great coaches. he adored his teammates & he recognized the quality of instruction he was receiving. 27’s larger than life leader is excellent with the boys and he makes them feel special-a gift many adults sadly lack these days. recent back alley chatter about families colluding to leave 91 en masse is complete nonsense. some of us have other children in the club, which demonstrates our affinity for it. here’s to the continued success of the program, to every other club's success, to the players-together and individually, and to the coaches who sacrifice so much to make our children’s experiences positive. you can’t put a price tag on what these coaches do, regardless of which club they play for.

The biggest difference is 91 spends more time and effort telling you they're the best club than actually being the best club. I took my kids out of there a few years ago and have them at two different clubs. The difference is astounding. My only regret is I didn't stop drinking the CoolAid sooner. It's nice to be a valued customer again.

Spoken like a rationale parent . Good to hear . What is unfortunate though is that you have to come on here to explain yourself to a board full of parents about your decision. You shouldn't need to explain or justify your decision to anyone but yourself and your kid ,no need to explain yourself to the coaches who thought you were colluding . You did what you thought was best for you kid , end of story . Don't let 91 get in your head and make you feel like you need to be all apologetic just in case you want to go back .

The 91 machine team looked pretty legit. They smoke my sons 2026 team. Do they not play everyone?

Your son must be on a 2026 B team because that same machine team played 2026 A teams and they got smoked themselves. They usually play in 2026 B brackets. But yes , they are legit and are the best team on long island and one of the top 3 in the country for 2027

That's going to be a tough take to backup after the falls seeing as out most of the top players on both Rage and Machine left for other clubs after the summer.

Yeah, that is nonsense. Machine will still be the top 2027 team and Rage will remain competitive with any LI "a" team. Lots of eager and skilled kids happy to fill the void for the kids that left.

Yeah ok rage dad , rage lost their top players and replaced them with B team players so relax. Happy days are over for rage, it is now a depleted B team . No more walking around saying that 91 has 2 A teams .

I believe machine lost 3-4players from what I heard, the person on here saying they were "top players " is wrong ....they were not starters . But what made it interesting is that they chose to leave willingly .

It's funny , i heard the same thing . Rage replaced their top players that left with kids from some bad teams . Teams like the rebels and true blue . You can't have it both ways , blow those bad teams out because they're horrible then say that you got good players to fill in from those teams . Rage is now a B team . They will win B brackets but that's about it .

I didn't play lacrosse growing up but I did play hoops (still do). I remember "making" the equivalent of the C team for the program my parents signed me up for when I was in 6th grade. By 11th grade I was a varsity starter and captain of a team that lost in the state finals. Just saying...

Do you ever ask yourself why 91 is talked about consistently??? Do yourself a favor and ask your coach to play 91 Machine. The outcome of that game should get you to stop talking, but probably not!

Let your son play and enjoy his experience and stop talking about a club that your kid doesn’t even play for...

Good tournament this weekend in jersey . Anybody know why 2027 91 machine isn't playing up into 2026 bracket? Also noticed that their 2026 team isn't going as well as their 2025's. Strange for a tournament that they are running .
