Silly comment. Looneys top team would crush Breakers. They had a rough HOCO season against the top 3, but there is a big difference athletically between the elite teams (except maybe 91) and most other teams.

Just as a point of comparison, Looneys just went 2-1 in group play at NALL (only loss to Igloo). They then played the Hawks in the first round of the playoffs and outplayed them for much of the game only to lose in overtime. Anyone want to claim that Breakers could play with (and come close to beating) the Hawks?

Did the Loyola coach takeover for this tournament?

No he is not coaching until next year. Breakers is not on the same level at all as any of the clubs that played in the HOCO elite division or play in the top tournaments. They do not have any players that could make any of those teams either which is why they also will not be attracting any players from those clubs to join them unless those players are not able to make the top team on one of those clubs. They are an overpriced rec team like many of the other clubs. If you look at HOCO, there were like 35-40 teams and maybe 10 are actual clubs. The rest are just stealing from families and playing rec competition and providing rec development and instruction.

Are Looneys, FCA, and clubs elite with a second team in a lower division also stealing?

It’s also fraud to misrepresent your team as elite when you clearly don’t belong there.

I just checked 45 teams at 2023. This statement is accurate. But, it is time to move on. There is no longer such a thing as "Elite" what really matters is the type of events a club plays in. However, I am not one to care about the finances of another. $1500 to $2500 does not seem like a lot of money to the demographic of club lacrosse. What is that one less ski trip a winter? Kids paying 35K+ to attend a private HS primarily for lacrosse or paying 65K less a litte lacrosse discount at a private college is the money grab. It is accurate IMHO that 10 teams in the mid-atlantic can play and show well at the top events. A team that gets blown out by 10 goals is not helping either team or the players showcase to coaches. 4-5 teams at the top are better than the lower 4-5 teams. There are maybe 4-5 in the Philly area 5-6 in LI 10 in all of NY, NJ area, 4-5 in NE and 1-2 in each of the major southern and western markets that can play and do well in the top events. With all of that, Breakers are not one of those teams.

Once you get to the elite level of lacrosse it's all about Championships. Beating up on some cupcake teams and OT against Looneys…… You can't be happy with that? Can you? How many championships have Hawks won this season 2018-2019?

very close games for hawks which isn't their usual showing; they generally crush; they were missing their faceoff guy - looneys gave them a scare forcing OT

You Baltimore guys are fools. Crabs is the only elite team. Both Looneys teams, both FCA teams, and 91 Md are lousy. All five teams with losing records.

No it's not. You are an stunad..... No one cares about 8th grade summer lacrosse.... No one will remember what championships you won and how many t-shirts and hats you received..... This must be a Crabs parent who has been drinking the Kool-Aid for a while and have been winning lots of championships with a team full of Hold-backs..... Enjoy pumping your chest out....Next year no one cares and your kid probably won't play....Nice job on riding the coat tails of a few hold back kids....

Brotherly Love is the best greater Philly area team - and the only "elite" level team around. So it attracts a really good group of players.

Hawks only loss the entire weekend was in the Championship game against DC Dogs. And man, did the Dogs look good throughout the tournament. The only game that was close for them was the Edge game - primarily because the Edge team has a very good (and different) Canadian style offense that gave the Dogs a bit of a challenge.

All in all, I think the Hawks had a good weekend - and the "scare" against Looneys was more about Looneys kids playing better and with more energy than it was about Hawks playing poorly. As for the missing FOGO, it wasn't like the Hawks used some random backup - they got a guest player from LI who looked pretty good from what I saw.

Maybe yelling louder at the same 10 kids will finally get it done for them this week. I'm sure the close game against Hawks gave them confidence that they are on the right track.

Sounds like a disgruntled parent. My kid has been on the team for a few years and I believe he has received great instruction. They always compete and your yelling comment is off base. If you are unhappy, you should find a different club instead of posting about it. Maybe Breakers or Greene Turtle

Or maybe the club can make changes to improve after underperforming for three years.

Hey don’t knock it. Another elite team will be there in PA - 91 Maryland. This will crown the true elite champ.

Why should anyone play in crabfeast when you are simply supporting a competitive club organisation. Your dues cover the expenses of a team you are trying to beat. A club that most people hate.

Crabs owner won't let any 91 teams and most Looneys teams in crabfeast regardless of whether they are "elite". He makes exception for Looneys 2020 since they are good enough to bring in college coaches based on their presence. I bet you're the same poster that knocks these teams for playing in Hoco elite.

One reason would be to play competitive teams for exposure and to be challenged, not Zingos A like Looneys will play. Good use of dues. But hey, you don’t have to play the hated Crabs.

Not having to listen to a morbidly obese middle age man scream at 14 (well 15 and 16) year old boys is always a good thing.

As mentioned above Crabs makes decisions on who gets in based on his own agenda. The Looneys coach prefers to play local. If they were welcome in crab tournament they would likely be there. They played in NAL and will be in Millon, both with high level comp. You never know who might be in a tournament when you sign up 7-8 months in advance. Last year some pretty good philly teams were in Meltdown - Brotherly Love and Freedom. What's your agenda other than to bash?

Just to be clear my son has never tried out for the Crabs because he is on age. Not a knock on Crabs but we are not willing to reclass for lacrosse opportunities. More power to the 7 Crabs players who will turn 16 before August 1st.

Nope. Season is over after the MM "2023 Championship" the weekend after next.

A good number of the Looneys kids play for True or Dukes "National" teams that will be competing at Naptown.
