New Hyde Park over Sewanhaka, 18-10

Junior Mike Greco had a career-high 17 saves and Luke Toscano played well on defense. Charles Lloyd scored with 1:47 left in regulation for St. John the Baptist to tie the game and force overtime.

Although not a Long Island powerhouse, Malverne/East Rockaway has now compiled a solid 5W-1L record early this season.

How about a report of Delbarton over St. Anthony's. Based on prior comments on this board, it was as if NJ didn't exist. Delbarton, Don Bosco, Summit, legit.

Final Score : Delbarton over St. Anthony's, 7-3.

Media Report : Grant Van Fossan scored three goals and Delbarton benefited from a gritty defensive effort in its 7-3 victory over Long Island powerhouse St. Anthony’s on Saturday afternoon in South Huntington.

Jordan Dowiak, Tom Fowler, Kevin Lewis and Matt Killian also tallied for the Green Wave, who got some long-awaited revenge after suffering a 10-9 setback against the Friars in a regular-season matchup last April.

Dylan Molloy, Nick Koshansky and Mike Laviano all scored for St. Anthony, which trailed, 3-1, at halftime and never recovered in its first loss of the season. The Friars were coming off wins over Kellenberg, Holy Trinity, Immaculata and, most recently, St. John the Baptist.

They currently sit atop the MSG Varsity Suffolk County rankings, ahead of Smithtown West, Ward Melville and West Islip.

In Delbarton’s first contest of the 2013 campaign, the Boston College-bound Van Fossan also capitalized three times, while the Green Wave strung together seven unanswered goals after a sluggish start in their 9-5 victory over fellow North Jersey powerhouse Ridgewood on Wednesday afternoon.

Wantagh was dismantled in the 4th quarter. Was a game until then but you knew pequa would come out on top. Looks like pequa and syosset again in conf 1. I have no doubt it will be GC and possibly Wantagh or LB in conf 2.

St A's alum, hats off to Delbarton who was clearly the better team on Saturday. Never was in doubt that they would win that game. Congrats to them. We have some work to do. First game with Chaminade coming up Thursday. For the NJ lax fan we will be seeing Don Bosco on the 22nd. No NJ lax hating here

Thanks for the candid response, appreciated. I am sure several LI teams will have their way with the NJ teams as they have many years, just felt NJ teams deserve a little more respect than they get sometimes on this board (obviously not from you). thanks

I think West Islip may lose 5-6 games this year. I don't think they have lost more than two a season in over ten years.

It is a combination of WI being a little down and a lot of other teams have closed the gap, instead of just one team a year challenging them (usually WM) now 6-7 teams can play with them. WI is still an unbelievable story over the last 10 years. I believe the below is correct

'05 19-2
'06 23-0 State Champs
'07 22-1 State Champs
'08 19-2
'09 22-1 State Champs
'10 21-1 State Champs
'11 19-1
'12 21-1 State Champs

Wow, how about just showing some love for Smithtown East for winning the game rather than questioning whats wrong with WI?! They haven't been as strong as SW the last few years but there is some talent on that SE team.

Last night on MSG Varsity, there was statistic mentioned in passing that was noteworthy : this was the first regular season loss for West Islip to a public high school since the opening league game in 2010.

Cage,

Cark also mentioned when he played he didn't know he was going to 'cuse until the winter of his senior year and that most players were at least 2 sport if not 3 sport players. How many of the top players this season played multiple sports

Recruiting and competitive levels were a different animal in the 1980s/1990s.

BOTC as a general rule will not highlight individual players from games with scores such as 19-1, 18-1, or 17-0. Do we really need to hear about Player X sooring eight goals against an overmatched opponent? We will always try to include some mention of a close match or an overtime contest. Individual "career" or school records are elements we also try to capture.

Back to your question, our feeling is that Section XI should have a better handle on the scheduling to avoid these types of match-ups and more specifically move to an ability based scheduling system. Section VIII has made some solid strides on that front and it is time for the Section XI group to get on board with that process.

West Islip is in big trouble. They may lose 7 games. I live in the town and I watch them all the time. Despite great coaching, it seems this years team is lacking a competitive face off kid and the goaltending has been spotty at best. They have a couple of very good players but they have absolutely no depth. Im afraid Scott Craig isnt pulling any rabbits out of hats this year.

What's going on at wantagh. Bellmore JFK loses by a goal. I heard JFK had them on the ropes all game. That's what you get for underestimating your opponent I guess. Should be a good game against long beach. Carry that same intensity over to the next game JFK.
