You’re right. They play fast and use space to draw the defense out of position. Won’t work in box. There is no where to run and hide.

With the amount of kids we have on our top two express teams we could field an entire BOX tournament. This is the type of stuff we should be doing but Chan is too worried about hurting feelings and feels he can't make enough money from it which is a shame

The reason our express team doesn't play Box is that there is no money in it for Chan Tournaments are expensive because rink time and rosters have to be smaller so the BIG roster approach doesn't fly.
Truth is with our top two teams we could field 5 teams at the age group. Tempted to play box elsewhere as my son is intrigued by it and seems like fast fun

FLG has a great program that starts next week. I know it's open to kids who don't play for flg.

Blast did not play girls yesterday. Nice try. YJs stayed around to take pics with t-shirts and a trophy from a championship that never took place. Don’t believe the hype.

How did they get t-shirts and a trophy if they didn't win? Sound like hype to me. Yours.

Don’t overthink or over complicate this. Both teams from LI and wanted to get home. Blast was gracious enough to let the girls get the t-shirts. Classy move by them, and provided a fun moment for the girls who spanked all the PA teams.

There are many boys on our team that would like to be playing it's unfortunate that Chan operates this way. May check out FLG

There are pictures on Instagram of them winning the Championship with T-Shirts and the trophy. Complete fabrication and hype. The only common opponent (Mesa 5th/6th mix) tied the girls and got crushed by Blast, 17-3. The girls are good but they are also not playing top 6th grade boys teams. It's a cute story (and convenient for the Coach since his older boys were also there) but not at all realistic to think they'd beat the best 2025 boys teams. They would get walloped.

There is no way this came from someone on Chan's team.

Quick question......I heard Express is taking their 2025 team to WSYL this year. Is that correct? If so, is it because most of those boys have to play this summer to make the U13 age-based requirement? In other words......are there a lot of holdbacks on that team? Not looking to bash, just curious.

Total fabrication. There is not a stitch of truth in this conversation. Just some Blast parent implying that Express has more holdbacks than they do.

Not a fabrication. Just a question. It seems like a lot of money to lay out two years in a row. Why not just go as a rising 8th grader? I guess time will tell.

Express has no interest in qualifying for the WSYL this year. This topic has never been discussed by the coaches or the parents. They will go to qualifiers next year like the rest of the 25's.

Again, this is coming from a Blast parent trying to start an issue where none exists.

It's amazing how many different versions of everything are here. The topic was absolutely discussed. There was a parent discussion with Chan at a practice after we played in the Blatant tournament. Chan decided not to do it this year. There are a few 2025 boys that are part of a combo 23, 24, 25 team that is trying to qualify, alongside the '24 A team. There you have it, for real.

Hmmmmm......looks like you’re the fabricator. Thanks for the fake news. Btw, it was a legit question on a board where people go for travel lax info. End of story.

From what I understand, its not the true 24 team but the combo team. All age eligible.

I have an older son who's a 2023, so we just went through this last year. Nearly team brings in older kids that fit within the age constraints. The teams that don't are unable to compete (unless they already have the holdbacks). I'm not sure what teams you all have kids on, but expect them to do the same when the time comes. Seemed like 3-4 kids on each team.

Give me a break. Of course the girls wanted to play. The girls are confidant in their ability and are not afraid to play any bots team in Box.
The 91 boys and their coach are afraid of how it would look if they got spanked by the girls team in Box. Which could easily happen with a girls team of that caliber.
Lets not sure here and pretend you did this to be nice. Its because your all afraid of the outcome.

Talking about box. Havent heard too much about Island box this year. There was lots of hype last year, like it was greatest thing for long island box lacrosse. But not much hype this year.
While NOTB and FLG are clearly up and running.
Anyone here doing Island box??

This would not be safe or smart. The girls would get hurt against the top boy's 2025 teams. Keep playing mixed grade B/C squads and spouting off about it.
