Is that because it was the only comment of the day? Because it really didn't make any sense.

wow- try to follow along. Some clubs jump on the holdback train in the 8th grade year. So, when kids should move on to 9th grade (hence high school players) they stay back and play another year against true 8th graders (middle schoolers). See how that works. 2023 Crabs is MUCH improved this year. . . and no wonder as high schoolers SHOULD do better against middle schoolers. No it is not illegal, and in some circles even de rigueure, but the post spoke the truth. In considerably fewer words than I took.

Same old holdback whining. Yawn. Get a life.

Seems the comments will continue to be appropriate as long as parents of teams stocked with holdbacks brag about how great their (kid's) team is.

The ironic part is that the crabs 23's have the same number of holdbacks as the other elite level teams, Hawks included. The crabs holdbacks are just better than the hawks holdbacks. Also, your wife is a pig.

This sounds so dumb. So our 9th grade age 8th graders beat yours. Impressive. Now have those same kids play on age and lose their playing time. Posers. You parents are pathetic.

Ok I can take a lot from this post not all bad but lots of things to talk about. I find it funny he left off Madlax when listing clubs? Why? But he added VLC?
He made a statement about be ready to deal with a mean/hard nose coach? Why?
Can we agree the 2023 group is the weakest or most spread out age group in all of DMV in a long time? Does any DMV team have a great team at this age?
Is Blackwolf losing the shine of the invite secret email, I saw you play and I think you would be great for Blackwolf?
Is Blackwolf going to start practicing and playing more?
Is Blackwolf going to take a public school kid or put the private school kids above them like the past?
Why is Blackwolf switching to the younger kid model? They where built on we are a High school club for only the best? ( which really meant we want all the kids already on the radar of the D1 teams come play with us and we will take credit for getting you D1. )

Also left out Next Level.

In DMV 2023, Madlax DC Dogs (formerly Club Blue) is by far the best. #2 is not even close. #2 was probably Next Level but that is unclear after their best attack and mid left for DC Dogs this summer. Dogs will be in the mix with Hawks and apparently Crabs for best in HOCO Elite.

But as this is more about BW, I don't understand the BW mystique. When was the last time they won a tournament? Are the "can't pass a background check" stories true? Was not overly impressed seeing the 2021 team play last year. Heard the 2022 teams is a mixed bag with some really strong and mediocre players (like most teams).

One: DC Dogs is NOT a N.VA team. May be Madlax but not N.VA they will mostly feed G.Town Prep. BW 2022 is mixed with 2023 and average. A few really strong players mixed with players from Evergreen. Should also list Evergreen on the list as this team is the feeder for BW. And that should tell you what you need to know.

The original post said "DC area players." Not sure why the squabble about DC Dogs not being a N.VA team. Surely, DC Dogs is a "DC area" team.

But hit it on the head with the Evergreen to BW 2022 pipeline!!!! Confirmed that BW 2022 took half a dozen Evergreen 2022 kids which says it all. Except for one tall rangy mid, none of those Evergreen kids are very good.

RESULTS from today's Terrapin Classic:

Madlax Capital 9 Patriots 5
Patriots 7 Blackwolf 4

Madlax Capital 13 STEPS 2
Blackwolf 7 STEPS 6

Blackwolf is not even better than Madlax Capital. BLACKWOLF, don't believe the hype.

Hello here is a little hint. Maybe we should be praising this DC Dogs team. If they do have a large number of reclass kids and they are playing up (on AGE) they should be told good job. These kids will be leaving high school in 2023 so they need to have this in the team name. But they should be trying to play on age whenever they can. This is what should be pushed to these other older age (reclass filled teams)

South River went 2-0-1 on Saturday. Beat DC Express B by a dozen, Peninsula by four and tied Team91MD when two players were ejected for fighting. SR middies were the class of the event

Express b is just for money, zero talent and terrible goal tending
PLC is much improved with a lot of new players, they have the smallest 8th grader in the nation.
91 was the more talented team but could not score. They took twice as many shots as SR. MM kid either was not there or is overrated. The big right handed attack man is good but not as advertised

Funny thing about the hold back - reclass issue is that the parents who get the most bent out of shape about this are NOT the parents of the kids who play these teams. It is mostly the parents of the kids who are on these teams. Parents really have little way of knowing which kid is older unless they are on the same team. However, if your kid is not able to get on the field because he has to compete for playing time with an older kids that is what causes stress for the parents. In addition, the holdback teams also tend to bring in guests who are older and do not know the team or the offensive scheme. The guest players are bigger and stronger and run through defenses to score while ignoring the loyal on age kid's parents who are screaming on the sideline, "he is wide open."

Madlax DC Dogs are NOT a N.VA team. I guess they are a DC team if that even exists which is does not. They do not practice or play in VA. They are the old Club Blue team and are a Montgomery County MD team with less than a handful of NOVA players a couple of bid middies and back up goalie at most. They will not feed N.VA HS for the most part. A few other MD teams also have a couple of VA players. Are Crabs a VA team? I do not think the coach of most of the kids want to be a NOVA team either. Congrats to Evergreen for being the best team in Loudoun with Green Helmets! I watched them play and thought it was the Hawks for a second.

Almost as annoying as hold backs are the parents yelling instruction to the kids during a game. Bad form

Maybe they added a player or two but if the were even with SR they should play in that division in the spring. SR is a fine team with some good players. T91 clearly belongs in that level and not Elite. Kids will have more fun. Only parents and coaches ego's that will take a hit.

Being conservative, Evergreen 2023 should be AA. AAA if they bring some kids down from the 2022 team.

???That may be fake news. If we are talking about HOCO divisions, this team lost by four to a top team in Freedom and won 10-1 in the second game. They won the AA Div last season how could they not be close to being AA? Are you saying the should be Elite? or A either way your post makes no sense.

Agreed re VLC not being even close to Elite. Hawks, Crabs, and Dawgs would beat them by at least 10 goals.

But being positive, VLC does have solid D and goalie. Offense is the problem. VLC has one strong middie and one strong attack (easy to identify after watching for 5 mins), stop them and you win. Rest of offensive players are about the same as most travel players sprinkled throughout HOCO AA/A. To get over the hump, VLC needs a couple new starters on A and M and maybe a new Offensive Coordinator.

VLC is not AA - they are A at best. Freedom could have beat them by a lot more. VLC had very little offense in that game, It wasn't even close. As for their 10 - 1 blowout of PA Roughriders, they are a B team.

OK - I am not a VLC parent but want to clarify: This is a MD-DC-VA group not a PA group or NJ or NY. We actually have a league in the spring with divisions. Call them whatever you want I do not care but in our Howard County Park and Rec. Spring league there is B, A, AA, and Elite. This team won the AA league. Therefore to say they do not belong in the AA league is incorrect. My son plays for Next Level and they are in the Elite Division so the above post is also incorrect for the spring unless the person posting feels that we should only have three teams in the Elite division.

To say that Looney’s and DC Express don’t have holdbacks is hilarious.

NL and Looneys are boarderline Elite very good teams and VLC is AA which is also solid. Not all teams can beat Crabs Hawks and Dogs but doesn’t mean they aren’t good

Saw VLC play this weekend at the abbreviated Harvest Classic. Not even close to a AA team.

???That may be fake news. If we are talking about HOCO divisions, this team lost by four to a top team in Freedom and won 10-1 in the second game. They won the AA Div last season how could they not be close to being AA? Are you saying the should be Elite? or A either way your post makes no sense.

I like VLC. Some good kids and coaches thru the years. But at this age group, VLC is good, not great. Look at summer results. Beat the average and weak teams, lost to every elite team they played. Nothing wrong with that. VLC belongs in the second tier of wherever they play, whether you want to call it AAA, AA, AA Elite or whatever. Same goes for all the other one-loss regular season HOCO AA teams from last spring.

sorry if I left your team off...just want competitive games don't care where my kid plays. three years ago HOCO had a competition Committee moved teams up and down all games should be 2-4 goals. its not about wins and loses. ITS ABOUT THE KIDS NOT THE CRAZY PARENTS>
