What have tryout numbers been like for the elite teams? Have seen a few supplemental tryout announcements already.

No Elite 2022 teams have posted supplemental tryouts. Tryout numbers have been high at the good teams just like they always are.

No big changes other than the Looneys kids finding new homes.

Rock has B and C teams now.

You don’t have to go to the tryouts to know that Hawks, Crabs, FCA, etc aren’t having supplemental tryouts because they can’t find enough kids. And yes my son is just fine thanks.

It will be here sooner than you think. Both teams will be in playoffs within two years. Within next 5 years one will be a MIAA Champion. Hard to stop talent

The dads running the Glen Burnie Goat Rodeo have proven they can "stop talent" before and probably will again.

Are the fielding 2 teams are 2022? Who is the coach of Top 22? Club has a good platform and history of commits, including Mikey Wynn (SP, ND). But not much talk in this forum.

The fact that the owners son didn’t play for Rock inHigh school should tell you all you need to know about the program.

Hey Ungrateful Poster!

I'm not Cabell and don't have a horse in the Madlax/BW race. Someone mentioned the criminal history of the guy, I researched it online and am shocked how any parent would let their son play for him, even if he is a good coach and has the ear of some colleges. If anyone can provide facts demonstrating that the allegations were untrue, fine but the news articles don't seem to be fictional.

Rock 2022 has been a stable and talented team for several years. It's nice to see that they have been able to keep it together and successful, even with the younger teams struggling.

No kid on Rock 2022, or even in the program, but this is simply wrong. Two years ago the Rock team was .500 in HoCo playing AA. This past Spring they went 4-2 in AA and lost in the playoffs to the eventual Champions. They aren't an "elite" level team, but from what I've seen they have had a pretty stable roster that has improved every year.

If you buy what Rock sells, they admit their teams will struggle in the early years, but the result of their approach is (ideally/hopefully) building a foundation of fundamentally sound players.

The problem is that many kids leave after losing so much and that makes it hard to maintain any cohesion. That has been an issue in the younger teams that seem to often play with multiple years bunched together. It seems like the 2022 team has overcome that. So good for them.

Let me clarify for you blind Madlax supporters (and most likely Cabell who spreads FUD on this message board). MadLax is purely a profit center with no focus on player development or individual skills and technique. The amazing players that have played there (or play there) were already incredibly skilled prior to their involvement at Madlax.

The focus of MadLax is purely on winning meaningless club/tourney championships with practices solely focused on team based concepts, irrespective of teaching the proper fundamentals or individual skill techniques. For instance, the proper way to execute a simple ground ball or roll dodge utilizing the proper footwork is never taught, nor are practices geared towards spending at least 50% on individual skills and technique like college practices. The end result is that kids play countless numbers of games, further engraining and reinforcing bad/poor habits. But that doesn’t matter to MadLax as long as they continue to fill their coffers with 2 teams per grad class.

Make no mistake, that’s the real reason kids leave for other clubs. It’s a sham and rip off especially when you consider that parents pay 2x the fees at Madlax for an inferior teaching/playing experience and that doesn’t even take into account the fact that they take 26-30 kids on each team.

Lacrosse consumers have become more educated and that’s why many of the best kids in the DMV are on longer affialiated with Madlax.

What does the Mid-Atlantic 2022 club scene look like for the upcoming fall and summer seasons? Which clubs got stronger and which lost talent? Given the rule change (20/60), are tournaments going to be able to afford a clock for every field or are the referees going to keep time on their wrist? Which clubs have the coaching acumen to adjust to the new rules? Which clubs have the best personnel for the new up tempo game? Guessing two way middies are now at a premium. Also highly skilled offensive LSMs. Look for a lot of ten man riding because 20 seconds isn't much time. Will be great to have an athletic keeper who can cover outside of the cage.

That's an NCAA rule that hasn't even been adopted yet. It was just proposed by the Rules Committee, but still needs to be approved by the [whatever higher up] committee.

I doubt that all of the tournaments, even those that claim to follow NCAA rules, will end up using a shot clock. As you point out, the cost and logistics will make it really hard to outfit every field with a visible clock. Just the cost of the equipment, without getting clock operators, will be prohibitive.

Guessing its adopted by the NCAA and followed by the MIAA A Conference. My guess is the referees will keep the time on the field. Its a brave new world folks.....

No way that there will be shot clocks at fall and summer tournaments. Most tournaments can't even get enough balls on the end lines. Let alone getting clocks setup at every field. NFHS rules are already different than NCAA. Nothing forcing tournaments to have 20/60 rules.

.

Will be interesting to see how fast the market reacts to the new rules assuming they're adopted. I know if the MIAA adopts the NCAA rules, the parents of those kids will want their clubs playing in NCAA rule tournaments. Understand the entire universe doesn't rotate around this constituency but I'm guess the hotbeds will want the high school kids to be preparing for the NCAA game sooner rather than later.

Yup. Because keep in mind that implementing this rule requires not just clocks on the endlines, but the power infrastructure to run them (or even more money and a separate power infrastructure to charge battery powered units), the remote controller units, and people who can actually pay attention the entire game to reset the clocks.

Madlax is expensive - valid criticism. Some don't like the owner - fine. But to say Madlax does not develop talent or work on individual fundamentals is wrong, especially at the lower age groups. If you want to criticize a club that is solely reliant on recruiting players who are "already incredibly skilled," no one is worse than Blackwolf. Add the apparent criminal past that you get with BW, not sure why anyone with even a modest moral compass would play there.
