What about Loyola, Towson, UMass, Colorado?
How about Hopkins, any chance to make a run?

Same as every other year the last decade. Maryland or UNC will win it all. Sport sorely needs a new winner. Florida could have had 2 already with a better coach.SB will have a tough time breaking through with a all LI team but could be final 4

um .. that is not true. Maryland and UNC have won the last five. The five years before that (the rest of "the last decade") Northwestern won four of them (w MD winning in 2010. Of course prior to that NU won 3 more. So lets include Northwestern in that same as every other year the last decade please.

I believe only 5 teams have won it all over the last 25 years. That is terrible for growing the sport

Have any facts to back up the it’s terrible for growing the sport.
Between the 2008-09 and 2012-13 school years, participation in high-school lacrosse grew 19 percent among girls (to more than 77,000 players) and 15 percent among boys (to nearly 102,000 players), according to data from the National Federation of State High School Associations analyzed by BuzzFeed. Over the past decade, the trend is even stronger, with participation more than doubling over that time.

Among sports with at least 10,000 high schoolers, lacrosse has had the highest growth rate since 2009. Other growth sports include 8-player football (up 12 percent), cross country (up 8 percent for both boys and girls), soccer (up 8 percent for girls, up 7 percent for boys), and girls bowling (up 7 percent).

Right. Beat UNC in the finals 21-7. I believe Maryland stalled the ball against UNC (9-8 final) and Syracuse for close to ten minutes each. Every team did. Thank god for the shot clock.

Here is all the facts you need. The National Championship game attendance is down over 50% from its highs over the last few years. Sure more kids are playing but nobody us parents care!

Well it's not because more teams aren't winning it. Nobody but the parents care in almost every women's ncaa sport. Sad, but true.

2017attendance at Sunday’s championship game was 11,668. The prior record of 10,311 was set in 2004 at Towson University. There were 19,471 fans at the women’s games between Friday and Sunday, also a record.u really are a loser, why come on here with a made up fact. Attendance has a lot of factors ie location, time ,date weather etc.

The season is here. Some interesting match ups today.

Navy vs Ohio State. Can Navy start off with a win?

Loyola vs Virginia. Both teams have fallen off a bit. Loyola more so. Who will set the tone for the season today?

Boston College Vs Notre Dame. Love the fact that these two challenge themselves early.

Penn State vs Towson. Lions and Tigers no Bears. Tigers not afraid opened with Stony Brook last year lost by 1 then Played PSU close, Can the Tigers upset?

USC vs Virginia Tech. Can The Hokies catch USC looking ahead? USC brutal early season schedule.

That's the problem w pre-season rankings. Everyone has trouble moving past last year and really looking at this year's teams. Navy for instance. Because they made the final 4 they are ranked top ten. They had a great run last year. They are not top ten this year. 9-7 over a very mediocre Ohio State team? Same with Penn State. Yup, they've made two straight final 4's. This year, they aren't as good and lose right out of the gate to Towson. They will not make the final four this year. Their ranking is too high.

Anyone want to bet that Notre Dame is not the 15 best (preseason ranking) team in the country? They looked pretty bad yesterday against BC, who is also ranked too high. Unless they get Kent back (who might redshirt), they are going nowhere.

Final 4:
Maryland
Northwestern
SB
Syracuse

Book it.

I would take out cuse and put in UNC but that’s why they play the games . The UNC loss does not completely shock me as it’s early , weather, something like 6-7 players started for UNC who never started before but they do have some very talented freshmen who will take some time plus they have a few studs who should be back from injury soon .Cuse has better coaching so you never know .

I guess you are the only one who can rank teams in the preseason.

Not surprised at upsets. What is surprising is the fact that more programs can not compete with the top teams on a more consistent basis.

ND is one of 10 teams that has finished the season ranked in the Top 20 in each of the past six years. Some believe they consistently under achieve but they are always a Top 20 team.

Navy, much like Stony Brook has been doing very well in recent years. Navy is 81 - 21 over the past five seasons averaging 4 losses per year.
They have not played the most difficult schedule but they proved last year that they can compete.

Penn State has not only gone to the Final Four the past two seasons they are also one of the Top 10 programs who have finished in the Top 20 in each of the past six years.

Boston College was in the Final Four last year and they have finished the season ranked in the Top 20 in five of the past six seasons.

There are a lot of great schools out there that have not been able to compete with the top programs on a consistent basis.

Why is Michigan not able to compete?
Why has Georgetown not been better?
Why are Penn & Princeton the only Ivy's that compete?
What has happened to Loyola?
Why can't Villanova be more Competitive?
What about William and Mary?
Has Hopkins fallen off?

Stony Brook has found a way to bring in some great players, Navy obviously brought in some very good players. USC without question had been successful in bringing in some excellent players.

Is it just that the top players want to go to the top programs?

Can some coaches not identify talent?

Are the coaches at the top programs simply better at everything?

Does anyone besides Stony Brook have a chance at being a newcomer to The Final Four?

No shame in losing to Towson, they are a good program. Towson played PSU tough last year and only lost to Stony Brook by a goal. They faltered a bit down the stretch but they are a solid team.

I see that you really went out on a limb with your Final Four picks.

Northwestern hasn't been in a final four since 2013. Seems like a bold prediction considering they are 11th preseason. SB has never made it there. Seems bold also. Not having UNC in there, also bold ... so yeah, bold predictions.

Since you needed to be a DB...

Thanks for the recap on ND, Navy, Penn State and BC. Well aware of what they have done in the past. Was not commenting on whether they were top 20 teams. The 20th team in the country is not close to a national championship in women's lacrosse. And specifically, was talking about who was ranked too high or low preseason THIS year. So rather than listing past resumes, why don't you actually respond by telling us, is Penn St ranked correctly at #4? How about Navy at #10? ND at #15? BC at #6 if Kent doesn't play.

Anyone can restate past statistics and then just throw out four million questions. How about an actual forward looking thought? You know, a prediction.

Or do you just want to throw out DB comments and then say absolutely nothing again.

SB
Syracuse

Book it.

Oh yeah, and considering Cornell won the Ivy you might want to brush up a little. GO BIG RED!

Yeah, no. Not bold at all. Stony Brook only newcomer but everyone has them as a top 4 team. Find me a team other than (Maryland, Carolina, Florida, Penn State, Syracuse, Boston College, Northwestrn, Penn, Princeton, Duke, Virginia, Notre Dame) They always seem to be at least Top 20.

How about USC, Colorado, Stanford, JMU, Towson, Elon or even Navy again.

You once again say nothing and just list things. What's your prediction, hot shot??

Yes, Cornell has won exactly one Ivy Tournament and they have shared a regular season Ivy title exactly one time as well (that was more than 10 years ago). They Made the NCAA tournament in 2016 also for the first time in 10 years. I would not call that competing with the best in the country.

But hey, maybe this will be their year.
