Isn't M&D all hold-backs? Not really comparing apples to apples when the girls from MD are 1-2 years older. That's the reason the didn't go to Nationals.

Yes, every girl on every M&D team is 12-24 months older than than the oldest girl on every team that they play. That is why M&D is so successful. They are the only program in the country that only has older girls on their teams.

Typical MD cheating losers. All smoke and mirrors. Unfortunately in another year things will even out since girls mature faster. The boys are another story.

So funny. I think saw 2 of the MD girls drive their parents home after the tournament. Wait ....what !!! Yes they are all 1-2 years older .... Really. I love this. Maybe they are pretty good kids who are coached well and play sound lacrosse. Heaven forbid they are just better right now in the Fall when other girls are playing other Sports.

I saw elevate bragging that they went 13-1 this weekend at the Tournament as a club. Were they at the tournament? I didn't see them. Did they play any good teams YJ, Heros, MD, etc? I am surprised I didnt see or HEAR them there.

If thats the case, Elevate was likely at a town tournament in New England. They weren't at the same tourney as YJ, M&D, etc.

Not even close. Legacy might be entering the conversation but they would still get beat by YJ A. No Thorne, mixed bag of players where a starting defender didn't sign up in time and 1st come 1st serve played against her. This was most of the team but not the YJA team and with no coach. The criticism of not taking October ball seriously is valid. Didn't practice. Head to head...YJA still top notch along with TG. All of us playing against a well coached team of M& D 5'6" girls that are clearly matured a half a foot more being 13 when NY girls are almost 12 to becomming 13 in Feb. to Sept. is a humongous difference in girls physical development. Good for Leg. Had fair day. YJA struggled this weekend to get to the same place. Do nit mistake that for parity. But dreams should be built on.

Thanks for the update. Fall ball is not taken as seriously on LI as in other areas, but I was glad to see Legacy get a taste of what other top LI programs face every Summer. There was a lot of Legacy trash talk before this tournament. I've heard nothing but crickets since Sunday from the Legacy campaign. Perhaps Legacy will eat some humble pie this winter, and have a bit more respect for the other teams from LI that face clubs like M&D, Hero's, etc. every Summer wkend.

Maybe YJ doesn't take fall ball seriously and it shows. That's an embarrassing statement and a poor excuse for your club. All the legacy girls are from the top clubs and have been to these tournaments for years you idiot! Legacy will be going back to Maryland this weekend and then lax for the cure plus various other tournaments throughout the fall. We take lacrosse seriously all year round. Nice try buddy!

It's 100% true. My daughter is one of the tallest girls on her team. She is in the 95 percentile for her age. When she plays M&D she looks like a smaller girl in terms of her development. I understand that all kids develop at different rates. But when the majority of the girls look more developed than my daughter, something seems very fishy. The M&D girls are a good year older and everyone knows it. When we play M&D we know it's like playing up a year.

Based on your daughter’s own personal growth, you are making the original statement about a team you know nothing about? Your original statement is 100% false.

You people are really wacky. Yes the MD players are on average a few months older due mainly to school cut off ages being different and it does seem MD teams tend to have a few more holdbacks than LI but they are not on average years older. Second Legacy should respect your team more because you go to MD and get beat up on more than they do, okay, but how about you beat these MD teams like other top YJ teams in the past.

There is a reason MD teams don't go to the National Championship Tournament its due to the age being enforced. Elite a Maryland team didn't fare well in that tournament last summer, they had to leave their older girls home.

No dog in this fight since my daughter plays for another Maryland club but M&D does not have any holdbacks. I am friends with many of the parents and personally know the girls on the team. Let's deal with the facts please.

1-2 years is more like it. For boys and girls. An unfair advantage now, but will even out soon. Earlier for girls than boys. Right now there is a huge difference between a 7th grader from NY and one from MD. Luckily due to the change in recruiting rules, the difference will be negligible by the time the girls are in 10th grade.

They are not hold backs!! Maryland education system is different than New [lacrosse]. At the same age, a student in New [lacrosse] enters Kindergarten and a student in Maryland enters Pre-K.. That is the difference.

You can keep telling yourself 1-2 years, but you are wrong. Find another excuse for your 95th percentile daughter losing to M&D.

Funny how MD parents are so obsessed with LI that they keep posting here. Don’t they know there’s a thread for MD teams? Funny how they keep trying to justify their old for their grade girls. Everyone knows that’s why they don’t participate in age-based tournaments. We know the truth, please go away!

You are all crazy .You are all either very ignorant or delusional . Both sides are ridiculous . Again the MD players are on average older ( it's hilarious that MD parents refuse to acknowledge this). They are not years older( LI parents refuse to accept this). MD tend to have more holdbacks ( UA used to print kids dob ) , still have it from a few years ago and it's obvious( MD parents again refuse to believe this ). Is what it is .

That’s BS and everyone knows it. Not too concerned though because come 2 years from now, everything will even out and the LI girls will have the advantage as they are now essentially playing up against you. Now go back to your boring MD forum, like your state

"Yes, every girl on every M&D team is 12-24 months older than than the oldest girl on every team that they play. That is why M&D is so successful. They are the only program in the country that only has older girls on their teams."

Lighten up Frances, this was sarcasm. M&D is the dominant team from Maryland at almost every age. They draw from southern Pennsylvania to the north, Frederick, MD to the west, the DC suburbs to the south and the Eastern Shore to the east. Girls travel an hour and longer to be on their teams. That is a huge geographic area. Compare that to LI where there are more teams drawing from smaller geographies. The M&D program has a proven track record with regard to developing players and in many cases, is the Golden Ticket to get into McDonough.

If they appear bigger, faster and stronger, that is because they are. When you have hundreds of girls trying out from a massive geographic area, it is not hard to put together a team of Amazons. It is likely that the average M&D (and most Maryland girl's teams) are older than the average team from NY. This is not due to some conspiracy. There is a 9/1 school cutoff in Maryland and yes, some girls do a prefirst year. My daughter did a prefirst year with a Sept birthday b/c we wanted her to be old for her grade, not young. Most prefirst children here have late spring, summer and early fall birthdays. I would wager that on average, a MD club team is 6 months older than an average NY team. Yes, that gives the MD teams an advantage until things even out in High School.

If your daughter is Sept birthday and cutoff is 9/1, wouldn't she have been the oldest anyway? Or am I misunderstanding something about "prefirst".

Exactly, MD players are holdbacks. Makes them look good now, for the girls, it will even out soon. M&D is a very strong team, but is beatable. Always a game to look forward to.
