I love it. Self anointed champs. Good thing the game is played on the field and not on these forums. Any given Sunday. This will be a great lax season.

It's not the existing Koopers 2022 team playing in HOCO. It's a combination of the 2021 Koopers kids and other Dukes Nationals players from PA, NJ and NY. They also picked up a kid that left Crabs

It's 5 kids from Koopers 2021 including the leading scorers and goalie. The Philly/nj all stars will fill out the rest of the team.

Basically, it's the core of kids that killed Hawks at Naptown. They may runaway with Hoco this year no matter who BLC/DCE and Hawks add.

So for years the Koopers director dissed holdbacks. Now that he has some he will let them do this? Shame on you Ronny.

Those kids have been playing up since they started. They are 22s on the 21 team. Shame on you anonymous fawn.

Please define the term "playing up"

Silly statement! Do mean at all age groups? Where will the rest of the AA or Elite teams come from for them to play against?
Do mean at this age group? There is only 4 more years for this age and if you think Mad Lax , Bethesda and especially the Hawks will drop down than you are a looney bin from Roland Park still living off your 80 year old parents money 💰
But thanks for your 2 cents

When the boys are playing with kids their own age, it is not playing up. I don't care that they are a school year behind because they are holdbacks or pre-first. Let's not pretend that they aren't older 2022s or the equivalent of on age 2021s because we all know better.

There will always be 1 or 2 elite teams from Baltimore, 1 or 2 from Anne Arundel Co, and 1 or 2 from Montgomery County.

His own kid is one of them. Reclassing is no different than taking an early PG year.

Lets not pretend that birthdates, holdbacks, and pre first kids are your problem. Your problem is that club lacrosse's best teams are full of kids that are pretty good and you feel badly for your son that he is "disadvantaged" bc of age and not bc of the simple fact that life isn't fair. Grow up and do something productive for yourself. If you can't ask for help. There are plenty of people who will help you in the lacrosse world.

Actually, they had a handful of kids playing up for several years, and now that 21's are going into HS, the true 22's stayed with their actual grade. Not holdbacks at all, on-age, compadre. NOW, that being said, a bunch of holdbacks from other clubs flocked to that 22 tryout because they wanted to be with that on-age talent, so best kids on-grade make the team. Why shouldn't Koopers benefit? Their older teams did it straight up for several years and are competitive over .500 AA teams now, so screw you if some holdbacks finally show up in the 8th grade. That club paid their dues, no f'ing way they take sh@t for landing a couple 8th grade horses. F that, brother, F that, bs called on your weak-azz cheap shot.

You just defined it all by yourself. They played up knuckled$ck. They are in the 8th grade for real, no repeated grades by your K-12 old tired public standards, but they played one graduation year ahead for the last several years. So last year they played 8th grade, but they were in 7th grade. Their former teammates went to HS, they went to 8th grade. They are now playing 8th grade again where they belonged all along. How did you need this explained? They payed up, so now they finally aren't playing up. Is that a freakin problem now too. Can't freakin win these days no matter what you do. You people need a new hobby other than trolling kids, dude.

3 of the 5 Koopers kids now playing as 2022s are reclassed 2021s (born before 9/1/2003). Only 2 were truly playing up.

BS again, nice try. Still playing previous grade, didn't hold back in club, just when transferred to different t school. Fake News again. Keep it coming, we can go all night and day. Take you bs back to the other clubs, nothing to see here.. oh, and calling out a specific minor kid anonymously on the internet, yeah, that's creeper mode. Just let us know when you are ready for a shot at the title, and someone will be by my friend. Time and location big shot, time and location.

I view it differently. Breakers will be a "survivor" as clubs like LWLC, Bitmore and others fade into memory. There are, IMHO, too many clubs, and the environment will become one of consolidation. The growth of clubs in the last ten years apparently has outpaced the number of clients available to serve. Whatever the prior experiences at Breakers, perhaps with a new directorship and with greater player participation, the organization might flourish again. Who knows, but at least they will survive along with a handful of others in the Baltimore area and so at least have the opportunity to examine and reexamine itself with hopes of improving. I am not sure that Team 91MD has a long shelf life, along with Team 42, Green Turtle. Less competition will invariably result in better teams, better organizations, and perhaps multiple teams at grade levels which will permit better coaching of basic skills at the second level.

All clubs that regularly fail to post more than 1 team in the top hoco divisions are not likely to survive or will need to merge to do so.
Rock has merged with Bitmore and Chaos and is still struggling.
Lacrosse is just not as popular as it was and club fees have almost doubled in the past 5 years.
Baltimore is saturated - Greene Turtle, Kooper's, Breakers, LaxWorld, Team 42, Coppermine, and Wolfpack could probably all benefit from some consolidation.

My only problem is the false narrative that these boys have been "playing up". The fact is that they will now be playing down. It's ok, a lot of kids play down, but don't pretend that they are world beaters because they played with kids their own age to this point. Surprised that this observation troubles you so much. Get comfortable in your own skin if you want to play the holdback game.

Wow..You are the one who needs to be educated...They never played up..They played with their age group. Good for them. Now that they are in 8th grade they get to play down for their age group. They should do well. Grades are a BS way to form youth teams. Every sport knows that except you private school apologists who want your little Johnny to have an advantage over over young children.

Many of these players should be playing rec. Maybe parents are finally realizing that if your child isnt some true older athletic player or you didnt hold your child back he isnt going to be elite level player ... so why pay thousands of dollars to not play against the elite level teams. save yourself thousands of dollars and play against non elite teams. ..

I see how it works now. Once the truth about how old the kids are is out there, anyone who discusses it is a knucklehead or needs to pay for more private lessons. The easier route would just be to follow the path that these kids' parents took and just have your kid play against younger kids when it counts. It's not breaking any rules, so everyone should just shut up while you preach to the younger kids to work harder. Probably not terrible advice to overcome the advantage of playing against older boys.

No di&kweed. The kids you are talking about literally played up an age and grade level. They were public schools kids playing up a graduation year against older kids. They happen to be really really good, so I guess it is just easier for you to pretend there is something there to capitalize on, but there isn't. What are you getting out of pretending this wasn't the case? You are literally making up a fake situation and arguing about it. I think that means you are a total loser, so that look your wife gives you, yeah, that's the look someone headed down the loser path gets..

Those kids have been playing up since they started. They are 22s on the 21 team. Shame on you anonymous fawn

Please define the term "playing up"

I see you have a lot of anger issues ! If they played up a grade and AGE and have now decided to play within their proper grade and age, good for them, that is admirable . That is the way of many players years ago. Play up.. Most tournaments just a few years ago usually saw the better teams playing up an age group. Not now with the epidemic holdback world.

Need to relax ...A simple they are on grade and on age by USL guidelines for 8th grade would have been sufficient to get your point across.

What is this crap about Koopers having kids flock to it? The new "studs" are Dukes kids for the most part. The Dukes kids may not even play as "Koopers" and are playing as Dukes Nationals this spring in HOCO. The owners son is repeating 8th grade at St. Pauls this year, so it's not BS. The only 2 kids that were actually born on or after 9/1/2003 are a certain Hopkins' coaches boys. The rest of the kids that "played up" on Koopers 21 were older. I don't understand why parents think other parents don't know who the older kids are. They go to school together and know each other. I personally don't care about holdbacks, My son competes just fine. But I don't understand why you have to lie about it. It is what it is and it's within the rules currently.

Not sure where you get information from. Buggs has coached several elite teams at the older levels and has had success . He is also heavily involved in the lax community and has been with Warrior from the very beginning. API will not drop down. He is highly qualified to coach that team. As far as the sideline losers its just unfortunate the rest of us will have to put up with it for another year. Hopefully they will let this coach teach their kids something and embarrass themselves or kids like every other year.

Have another cup of API cool-aid.
Buggs is a complete joke of a coach a bad example for teenage boys. He acts like a child often himself.
Once showed up to coach his team halfway through the game when he showed up late after a night of drinking.
Maybe if he can separate his personal life from his work life he can strive to be something more than a glorified figurehead.

For those of us not "in the know", when did Buggs Combs show up late to a game and how do you know it was due to his drinking and staying out late at night? Was this a recent occurrence or are you simply digging up his past for your own purposes? By the way, were you or your family ever affiliated with API? I am not, but wonder what motivates people on this forum to being so viciously mean-spirited.

I remember this. Several years ago. Beach Lax. Parents had to step in and coach until he and Asst. Coach showed up. Hopefully he has matured since then.

Wait, you just acknowledged the other person's points, then seemingly kept arguing anyway. So there were some players that played up for several years (kind of weak that you had to call them out personally, since they are minors, very inappropriate), and now they are just where they should be by age and grade. Then, in calling out another minor, you forgot to mention the fact that he did not play down at 22, rather stayed where he would have been had he not held back at school at 21, I guess just a minor detail fact that got in your way. It is not your business what minors do in school, he didn't sign up to play down at club lax, so another weak call out of a minor personally. And yes, that tryout was ridiculous, picked up some real beasts that want to play with some of the kids that you called out now that they at 22 level.

91 lost half their team. Not sure why anyone expects them to stay at the top of the list.

Thanks for responding in part to my questions. So SEVERAL YEARS AGO! I suppose, the cynical and sarcastic crowd of this board disallows a human being to perhaps "learn from their mistakes" and become a better man, coach, human being and mentor. I suppose in the narrow world of this board, once you have made a mistake, that mistake is uncorrectable and disqualifies you forever from coaching again, maturing, or finding a better path. I am not suggesting that we excuse habitually bad conduct as it is our kids that we would be placing at risk. My point was, and remains, that it is my opinion that we ought not take potshots at anyone based upon a singular/random instance that in the long term will have no impact on anyone other than the individual involved and his standing in the organization. Apparently API has survived/endured despite the episode mentioned. From what I have observed, the API 2022 kids remained intact, and flourished to a point (WSYL qualifier and semi-finalist) that most of us would like to have had our sons a part of. Please, whatever organization you are a part of, make it better through positive contributions to it. Don't believe you are making it better by tearing down your neighbors, members of the community, and friends of your kids.

3 of the 5 Koopers kids now playing as 2022s are reclassed 2021s (born before 9/1/2003). Only 2 were truly playing up.

According to the Kooper's website, all 5 of those kids are listed on the roster of the 2021 Black team. They are accordingly NOT listed as members of the 2022 team. Based on HOCO rules, "players may only play for one team in this conference". Failure to abide by this rule results in any team that player plays for disqualified in all games. A kid has to be on the conference roster at the beginning of the season. I am not seeing how any of the Kooper's kids get to play on 2021, 2022 Kooper's or Dukes Nationals 2022. The listed Kooper's 2022 team is good and should be competitive in the "AA" segment of HOCO. Without some or all of the 5 2021 players they are not an elite team. Of course, they can bring in kids from other states like 91 MD and Crabs I believe intend to do, but that is a whole different discussion.

Stand corrected. My bad. So, there will be about 30 Kooper's kids on the 2022 roster and standing on the sidelines at HOCO games. Just trying to prepare myself to look at 20 or so kids standing on the sidelines during a game.
