Hmmmm..no it's not...really it isn't. Nice try though. But don't think too much more on a witty analogy to come back with. Igloo won its over.. Just think of it as Igloo got a 100 on the test and your son (who has to sit in the back because he is so big due to repeating the grade smile )got a 65 lol

Stay classless Igloo!

You forced me to break chops....didnt want to. All kids played their hearts out on the field and any team could have won

you are an [lacrosse], naturally
obviously any team could have won
most all championship games were 1 or 2 goal games
thanks moron

regardless, that too would be cheating. players are responsible for checking and maintaining legal sticks. having said that, was it the first and only game where referees checked a player's stick? it was not observed in any other games that we saw. playing against 91 maryland and its coach being the tournament director presents a clear and obvious conflict of interest as it pertains to officiating, which is expected to be addressed in the future.

Observations from this weekend at 2022 National Championship:

1) Really Solid Teams 1-17. Great venue and event. only competition Issues were 17-20
2) Only real issue with seeding was 2 of the weaker teams were both in Igloo and Team 9+1 Millon MD bracket. HUGE advantage for Igloo to make 2nd seed after playing a team that scored 1 goal (Triad) in the whole tourney when tie breaker was goals against. Also could rest horses.
3) Interesting that Igloo and Team Millon Md also had favorable early morning (out of heat) schedule on Saturday - thus had 24+ hours of rest for day 2 - HUGE ADVANTAGE
4) Several of the top teams - LIE/Hawks/Bethesda/Greyhounds played on short rest finishing day 1 late - HUGE DISADVANTAGE
5) Hawks and Bethesda arguably still top two teams. Bethesda beat Team 9+1 Millon twice in HOCO convincingly.
6) Impressive how 3 of the top 4 teams were from MD and were top three teams in HOCO as well.
7) Venue and Mid summer HOT WEATHER format may be better suited for:
16 Teams - 4 bracket's -
Friday - play 1 game
Saturday - play 3 games
Sunday play Semi's and championship
8) Lax mom's + July = Hot Momma

I think the boys game needs be like the girls and check every stick before the game, before every face off, and after ever goal. It's the only way to stop this rampant cheating!

Correction, we did it with swarming defense, great coaching, tenacity on gbs, and playing with the kids who brought us to the party. We used a fogo who injured his hand Friday, and a middie with an injured shoulder in game 1 day 2. We beat them by taking away the strengths they play to. We also stunk for part of the final and, quite appropriately, lost together. In short, we played as a team and lost as a team: no compmaints, no exuses, no subs, no emergency transport of players not on the roster. Igloo beat us, so congrats to the boys on that squad. But don't dare get on this blog and diminish our boys'accomplishment by questioning their ability or talent.

91MD dad, I thought Igloo parents were friendly yet fierce for their boys. We hit 2 pipes in last 20 seconds that would've forced OT. any given day these kids can win or lose. all games yesterday were 1-2 goal decisions.

2 kids are from Texas and have played with the team all year and have been on the roster since the fall. While I do not agree with them being on the team at all, it is not cheating or stacking when they "try out", play with team all year and pay the full fees.

I should have clarified, according to MM it is not cheating or stacking. He has a justification for everything he does, no matter how wrong it is.

Is using a softball to make the head wider cheating?

The head should be thinner and you cheat it wider after every game.

Addressed in the future? There should be no future for this tournament. The basis and rules for this tournament were proven to mean nothing. Addressed in the future. The future of this tournament should be a defunct website and twitter page. Millon had this set up for years to come but in a moment he made his own tournament irrelevant. It would be a shame for any club to enter this tournament or travel here for it. We need letters from schools, we need roster blah blah blah blah blah....what a joke of a tournament.

No surprises here with the anonymous posts calling out a 13-year old boy on the Hawks as a cheater and questioning the integrity of the 2022 team! It is now documented and proven that it is Mark Millon (the director the 2022 National Tournament), his hired officials and Team 91 MD that lacked the integrity and honesty to uphold and enforce the rules they actually set in place. I know this site often lacks facts so let's get the facts straight to document the travesty that happened yesterday with the Hawks 2022 FOGO kid before other pile-on without understanding what transpired in the semi-finals on Sunday.

Facts: A stick check was called 1-minute prior to the end of the game on the Hawks FOGO directly after taking a fast break and the Hawks scoring to bring the score to a one point game. In turn, Mark Millon called for a stick check and penalty was incorrectly issued after a 5-minute delay claiming that the throat was slightly less than 3ā€ (which is the NCAA rule). However, under Federation rules, there is no mention of an exact width of the throat, only that the ball must pass the rollout test, which it passed! Spectators could clearly see this from the stands because the "MM hired-officials" popped the ball up in the air several times trying to find a violation then tried another tactic and went to the tape measure for some reason not understood. MM cheated by not accurately applying the rules that he distributed for the tournament. The fact that this young boy has dealt with the shame of this costly penalty to turn the possession over to Team 91 with just 1 minute left in the game, yet the stick was legal based on 2017 NFHS criteria. So sad, but we all expect nothing less from a MM run tournament and the trolls that want to bash a kidā€™s integrity without merit!

Lacrosse National Championship Class of 2022 rule extract for Sticks:
"Sticks - BOTH NCAA & Federation sticks are legal
Stick Length, pocket depth, and head top width will be in effect
40'" - 42" or 52" - 72" (NCAA regulation)"

The Hawkā€™s FOGO deserves an apology from MM due to the unmerited penalty for an illegal stick but...as we all have witnessed on several occasions, it is win at all costs for Mark; even if it means cheating and making it look like as if the 13-year boy and his stick were at fault! Thanks MM, keep it classy, some day your actions will catch up to you!!!

You clearly don't know the facts if you think the Hawks have the most holdbacks. They aren't even in the top 5.

I get you don't like holdbacks, nobody does. It is a very shady practice but ALL of the Baltimore based teams and ALL of the Bethesda teams have many more holdbacks than the Hawks. And ALL of the teams have holdbacks born before 9/1/2003. You can only complain if you are a Rec team.

As for losing two games - thats 7th grade lacrosse. Has any team gone undefeated since the kids started playing in summer tournaments playing national and international teams?

I have daughters who play lax so someone here please answer this

1) what is fogo ?

2) and do you not have stick check before a game like girls do ?
How would someone have an illegal stick?

You all must be kidding. As a former college face-off (not fogo, back in the 90's we stayed on the field) player, having your stick bend to the point of drawing a penalty would never be considered "cheating" by those who play the game. It's no more cheating than slashing an opponent. It's a PENALTY - not cheating.

Cheating is playing with an ineligible player, paying off a ref, etc.

I have coached youth lax for 20 years now and have never seen or even heard of a player (FOGO or anyone else) intentionally using a stick that would draw a penalty. They might not know (they should), it might bend too much during the game, or it might even be illegal before the games starts. But to think someone would do that on purpose is nonsense. The refs are standing over the sticks and you know they will check a stick if it looks illegal. Especially FOGO's. When the Big Cat (Towson's FOGO) got 2 illegal stick penalties in the same game (back in the pinch-and-pop days) nobody said he was cheating! He was called a lot of things (dumb, Goat, least favorite coaches player that day) but cheater wasn't one of them. There is no chance he was intentionally using an illegal stick (pinched before being strung).

Same with Steve G from UNC - FOGO who had a full page color picture in Lacrosse Magazine showing the ball in his hand on a face-off when he grabbed it and rolled it back between his legs (I asked him to show me how to do it so quickly but I could never replicate). We didn't call it cheating - we said he got away with one!

So grow up, ask someone who has played the game and the position, and realize that while an illegal stick may be an advantage, it's the refs and other teams job to ask for a check if they think so. And if it is illegal, it's just a penalty - part of the normal course of a game, just like a slash or offsides.

It is really sad to see adults(used loosely) on a message board crying over kids sports. I was there all weekend watching and what I saw were 20 teams trying to win lacrosse games. Yes there is some gamesmanship going on but it was some of the best lacrosse played all year. Annapolis Hawks were the best team all year and I think to much lacrosse caught up with them this weekend. BLC another great team did not play enough lacrosse this summer and that caught up with them. The LI teams were great. Team from Richmond was a big surprise. The worst part of the weekend was the goalie from Igloo getting hurt in a meaning less game. I felt terrible for the kid as he was in a ton of pain. If some could up date on how he is doing I would rather see that then all of the crying.
I hope they take a few things from this weekend.
1) Do not have a coach in the tournament put his name on the event. Be involved behind the scene but not the head line
2) Make sure that all teams have 2 listed goalies on their roster. When you go to Nationals in Ice Hockey they make sure you have 2 goalies on your roster and for some reason if you cannot get a 2nd goalie they provide one for you from local players.
3) Make sure all the fields are the same. That grass field was awful in so many different ways.
4) If you could figure out how to have some kind of regional qualifier for certain areas. Some of the lower teams were not good.

Overall it was some of the best lacrosse all summer.

And the scores prove it was some of the best games all summer. 12 goals separated 9 games in the championship brackets. maybe not the best lacrosse ever played but some of the best match-ups of 13 yr old boys Football season next!

3) Make sure all the fields are the same. That grass field was awful in so many different ways.
4) If you could figure out how to have some kind of regional qualifier for certain areas. Some of the lower teams were not good.

Overall it was some of the best lacrosse all summer.

With respect to suggestion #1 above -- everyone knows that Mark Millon is all about the Millon "brand". Everything else in his world is secondary to his self promotion wherever possible. Love that his first born was also named a "first team" all tournament player, and that his favorites from the area were generously listed on all teams/honorable mention list. What a promoter!
