You are a total moron. Every team at the qualifier had kids that are in 8th grade but are age appropriate according to the rules. People complain about playing with the Maryland "Big Boys"because when it's a "grade based"event Maryland has kids that are a year or 2 older than the typical 7th grader on Long Island. No such thing as a hold back on WSYL rosters which is why Maryland cant send some teams. Maryland cant compete with LI without using older kids...or "Big Boys" as you'd rather call them

You have no idea what you are talking about.Legacy set the precedent last year and the size disparity was clear to everyone watching, including the announcers on tv. So in order to even the playing field, organizations created teams that utilize kids that fall into the age requirement of the WSYL tournament regardless of the grade they are in. What's great is all these elite Maryland 2022 teams mysteriously cant/won't field a competitive team for this event now. Fire away with the lame excuses ...let me save you from having to type the most popular ones 1) it's a lame B/C level tournament.2) our team decided not to do it and exclude 2-3 who miss the age requirement (we will ignore the fact that they are the best kids on the team AND would be considered a hold back at 2022)

Bottom line is that the current best teams in Maryland can not compete against best teams on LI when there is an age limit.
No one disputes this, It is a shame, as in years pass MD could compete with age restrictions. No more.

the physical maturity of igloo's 2021 team players who were recruited to arctic blast will also be clear to everyone as well. let's see if the second time is a charm for igloo's rising 9th graders who played in the world series last year with black ice. maybe those players can be personal tour guides for all boys who will be experiencing the event for the first time and the announcers will have already practiced pronouncing their names. take pictures and bring back souvenirs for the boys who were excluded from this opportunity. keep rationalizing it and maybe you will overcome your moral conscience.

Not true: For starters 91MD and Diamondbacks can and this is coming from a NYer who played and has kids with two of the top clubs. Stop trashtalking and show some humility.

API Diamondbacks have lost players. They are not as competitive as years before. After the wsyl tournament I doubt this team will exists. Some players already playing for other clubs this summer.

If you can't beat them (Legacy, with rising 9), join them (Igloo, with rising 9). Apparently some at Igloo believe that there are ringers in team.

Maryland teams don't think it's worth the hassle to kick 3 or 4 kids off the team and have tryouts to replace them for one weak tournament on the other side of the country. That is why NONE of the top 5 Maryland teams are going to Denver. Have fun playing a bunch of scrubs and a couple good LI teams. See you at the Millon tournament for a real National championship.

No that's not why the Maryland teams are not going to the World Series they just can't field a competitive team at the correct age requirement that's why Long Island teams are the best in the age group but that's okay we'll just come down in July at Millon and beat up on your Rising 9th graders. Oh excuse me 8th graders

you used the word "grade", which means that for whatever reason you do not understand this tournament.

So if they are on the top 5 2022 teams...what reason would you have to kick 3or 4 kids off for the WSYL? Can't have it both ways . Can't deny you have 3 or 4 holdback per team on your top Maryland 2022 teams and then use the fact you have older boys that don't qualify as a way to put down an age based tournament. There are 8th graders on LI that qualify based on age..how old are the 3 or 4 MD kids on these top 5 2022 teams that would have to be kicked off?

totally agree that it is wrong to exclude players who made the arctic blast team this year. those kids earned their spots, are committed to the team, worked hard, paid, etc. unjustifiable to be alienated from the team and denied the opportunity to play in wsyl.

You are asking those kids that made the team to spend all that time and money getting to Denver without the best possible team. Why would they do that?

The age cutoffs for wsyl (which change year to year) determine who is on or off the team for this one tournament. The other leagues and tournaments all the Maryland clubs play in have different rules (that don't change year to year.). Why revamp your team and disrupt your summer for one tournament that is not up to the level other tournaments you could play in? Marylanders are not that stupid.

Wsyl is a train wreck and only causes problems for clubs having to change their roster for one crappy tournament.

I think it's embarrassing to admit how badly you have to cheat to compete. Changing the roster would show that it's not just 3 or 4 kids. This way you can keep hiding the truth.

Sad state youth lacrosse is in. Development of players in 3rd tear for most big name clubs. NY is no better than PA,MD,VA or anywhere else. Teams in those states follow the rules given for each league and tournament. Rules that most think should be changed due to the bending of those rules. None of which makes them cheaters. Teams also have kids from other states on them that have tried out and paid dues.Which is also not cheating. Some of the youngest players on these teams might happened to be the biggest, fastest and strongest, which is not cheating. Aside from the top High School leagues in the country which accept holdbacks as the norm, it is safe to say every club or team is bending the rules to favor them at every level. It does not matter what State you live in.You can't holdback a player in High School and have them return to that same school. So this is why it happens in 7th and 8th grade.
If your player wants to compete at the Elite level from now to High School than this is what they have to deal with.
The level the 2022's play at is remarkable and fun to watch. It is also clear which teams are developing and being well coached. For me that is all that matters, losing to a team that might have a few holdbacks, or bending rules somehow doesn't mean the end of my sons world. Especially when EVERY team is doing it somehow/someway.
I personally think its a shame the best teams from MD will not be at WYSL. Teams that should be but can't because of the new cut off date. This tournament could of been much better. That is not taking away from all the teams that did make it.
Cheers to new rules that ALL have to follow on every level anywhere in the country.

what is sad is that some clubs are not playing as a team, rather drop these boys who are on the team and bring down those boys from the grade above. just directors/coaches doing whatever it takes to attempt to win. no regard for the kids on the team, their well-being and their overall development. what happened to playing with what you got, trying your best and accepting the results - win or lose?

NLF schedule is up. 3 different pools. I got Express in the 'Command' pool. T9-1 in 'NexGen' pool and Hawks in 'Raid' pool. Although NexGen is the smallest pool, it may be the toughest.

Express, PrimeTime or 91MD Command

Hiding the truth' You sound stupid and bitter. Do you not think that every league and tournament has to have a roster check with verified age and grade for each club. These teams all play within the rules of every game they play.Thats why the new age cut off for WSYL prevents the few kids and teams from playing. These teams are not cutting or dropping these kids from the team or recruiting new players or bringing players down like most teams are to make the cut. Please stop with Maryland teams are all cheaters - by the way those top Md teams will be in LI next week and everywhere else this summer LI teams will be.

You pick the obvious favorites. Don't bet on March Madness, as you would be a loser every year. Express & Hawks are among the top teams in the country. Clearly, Command is the strongest division. NexGen is completely stacked for 91, so that they are set up for what is believed to be an east path. Little does Sal & Josh know, but BLC & Laxachusetts will be challenging. Hawks win Raid easily. Igloo not invited to this party.

my kid earned his spot by working his [lacrosse] off. my moral conscience is just fine, thanks

totally agree that it is wrong to exclude players who made the arctic blast team this year. those kids earned their spots, are committed to the team, worked hard, paid, etc. unjustifiable to be alienated from the team and denied the opportunity to play in wsyl.

You are asking those kids that made the team to spend all that time and money getting to Denver without the best possible team. Why would they do that?

Clearly you fail to understand the concept of team. Let's try another approach. No kid left behind? Now do you get it? Arctic Ice is a team and Igloo chose to drop players from the team so that they could bring older players from Black Ice. Simply, that is wrong. May work for the specific WSYL tournament rules, but it is not right for the boys who were rejected.

No one disputes this, It is a shame, as in years pass MD could compete with age restrictions. No more.

I think it's embarrassing to admit how badly you have to cheat to compete. Changing the roster would show that it's not just 3 or 4 kids. This way you can keep hiding the truth.

MD teams play down, always have always will! Cannot compete on age and never could. Going back to when MD teams were U based. U13 U15 etc. When playing in grade based tournaments they always played in the younger grade brackets. Now all your best teams are loaded with older kids. No big deal, our kids like playing up it makes them better. The number of MD D1 commits continues to decline and LI and NY hold steady. Don't forget to bring Jr's electric razor, you want him clean shaven so he looks younger, and don't forget his license. You wouldn't want him to get pulled over while driving to the next tourney.
