Did anyone really think she was going to "coach" this team this summer? There are two parents and one assistant listed in addition to her. What other YJ team has four coaches?

Same stupid post on the HS thread. Reading is fundamental. In the article, Spallina clearly states he's against helmets. Go back and put your reading glasses on grandma.

I think YOU need to read what the poster was saying. They're saying isn't it ironic that Spallina is saying he's against helmets while, at the same time, he's one of the ones most responsible for their existence by coaching a typical, overly-physical, Long Island style of play.

The Schedule is out for LAX FOR THE CURE......CR isn't listed as the coach for the 2021 Blue team.

On the girls side they are all "summer" but if you get a good coach or a good parent organizer they'll practice in the winter and find some games/tournaments. YJ has a fall/winter indoor program through YJ itself that does weekly indoor scrimmages to teach the game. It's pretty good learning wise, for a price of course. YJ 2024 and 2025 practiced and joined an indoor league to play games over the winter. So it really depends on the team. I'd go to the specific thread for the age group you're looking at and ask there who's practicing and playing over the winter.

That's because she doesn't want her name associated with a team that has no chance to win anything.

Is the rule they are trying to enforce about early recruitment only for lacrosse or is it all college sports?

So wth the recruiting change, I'm guessing this summer won't matter nearly as much as everyone hyped it up? Sure college coaches may watch but what's the rush? No contact for the next 39 months for this age group? Now instead of guessing who the future studs are they get to sit back and actually watch these kids develop. I would even question the value of all these clinics, showcases and prospect camps until summer after 10th grade? Sure you want to get on their radar at some point but when will it now make sense? At the end of the day this change is probably good and I wonder if the true blue chip kids will benefit by getting a bigger share of the athletic money since there will be more competition for them?

Yellow Jackets have gone really quiet seems they are in a down cycle like everyone else at the younger ages. After the 20's and 21's with 4 teams, there are only 3 7th grade teams, 2 6th, 2 5th, 2 4th

The gravy train is drying up just a little. Happens in every sport

There are more options than ever before and people have figured out being on a 3rd or 4th team is a waste of money. Furthermore, the drop off from YJA -B is huge at the younger ages because of this and has created a bunch a mediocre club teams.

I love our '25 coach (Janelli) but boy, CR acts like she is doing you a favor throwing you a uniform. No grace or warmth with her.

Can you people just admit you hate CR and move on? Switched from another team to YJ, and it is about $500 CHEAPER with a [lacrosse] of a lot more practices. It does depend on the coach you get. My daughter's puts in a lot of time in with extra practices and winter practices. Not sure if other teams got that though. Overall very happy with coming over. Her old team, you paid for a bunch of swag and you were always getting hit up for extra "clinics" and "practices".
Stop coming on here crying. You are the paying customer, find a place you & your daughter like, move on and enjoy.

Your reading comprehension skills are weak at best. I like the coach and the program. I'm not a fan of the leader's interpersonal skills. Its about my daughter and what I think is best for her lacrosse development and not my personal preferences.

CR sticks it to everyone and has always had the people kissing her [lacrosse] to be a part of the YJ family HAHAHA.

Great connections, decent coaching, best talent and teams but she does it her holier than though way which is tough to take.

Humble isn't in her vocabulary. And for the guy who says its cheaper. Don't forget all the ad ons-
Camps, clinics, personal training, winter, graft, bus rides, bbq's she does layer on a lot. her core people will continue to pay but like someone else pointed out the younger ages are down to two teams per age from highs of 4 and 5 teams

Carol Rose is exactly what's wrong with youth sports in general and lacrosse specifically on Long Island. Carol Rose is a bully and a pig in every sense of the word and an embarrassment to the profession of teacher using her job to further feather her nest. Shame on the Northport School District for looking the other way.

Yes, my dealings with her are that she really doesn't give a crap about the girls, only her pocketbook. Yes, she has had a great run, but looks like people are becoming fed up. At the younger ages, top girls are leaving her program because it is mismanaged. At the end of the day, she is a nasty wench.

The gravy train is drying up. People are seeing its crazy to be playing travel lax in 1st grade and those who do play know playing on the 4th team is a joke. The families of lemmings that had 2 and 3 kids playing for her are graduating out and she has been unable to manipulate the next generation as easily as the last.

Still a multi millionaire, still attracts the best LI talent, but still a bad me first person just like her players and just like the parents of those kids who don't care what you think about them, neither does she

Your mistaken, YJ doesn't attract the best talent anymore. Some, but definitely not the best. Explain the mass exodus at 2023. Many other options out there. Because CR can't jettison the daddy asst coach (who has no Lax credentials), she is losing good talent to other clubs. She probably doesn't care cause the team is sold. Just fulfiling her obligation to stay on board for a while.

Overall club lacrosse enrollment is down on LI at the younger ages plus its more fragmented so you are right it will be harder for the YJ's to put up super dominant teams. YJ coaching has always been weak in some groups with CR rewarding her inner circle. When she had the best most dominant talent anyone including me could dump out the ball bag and win 90% of games but now with the lack of bodies and more parity they need great coaching which they don't have.
