James Sullivan isn't even the best face off guy on Long Island. Austin Henningson of Northport is the best face off guy. He beat Sullivan almost every time in the Nassau vs. Suffolk game.

I agree, Austin Henningsen is the best face off guy there is. He stands on his record. Pretty good for a boy who only plays for his town team!!!!!

A miracle that these boys did not have their familes take out a second mortgage for club lax and somehow still got recruited. Imagine that - pigs do fly.

Obviously this age group has a great deal of talent. Inevitable that many deserving players would be left off the list.

Congratulations to all.

I know parents who left their kids back one year because they could see the depth in 2015 but not nearly as much in 2016. The kid was lost in this grade but now one of the better ones in 2016. Good move if you can do it. I wish I could have done the same with my son.

"Lots" is an exaggeration - added a couple, lost a couple. No big changes for either Express or fl$ in this grade. The talent pool in this grade remains unmatched.

both teams changed a goalie - as a rising Junior team I think that would be considered a "big change"

Interesting. There are approx. 12 in this class listed on IL as having verbally committed to various D1 programs - 5 of which are to Ohio State. I would have thought there would be more by now given that this grade is very, very strong at every position.

Assume you mean LI-based verbal commitments. Actually they are missing at least 2 to Penn and no doubt some others that prefer to not announce. Another way to look at it, only about 110 verbal committs out of a probable 700 available slots per class (roughly 10-11 x 65 schools playing D1 in spring of 2016) or only 16% taken so far. Not such a stampede - plenty of time left.

Express - they will always take your friend's money even well after the "tryouts". The rosters are always fluid even during the summer. May not be able to crack the orange but the blue and white are always wide open.

Long Island was very well represented last night at the Maverik Showcase 2015 All-Star game - LPM Danny DeSanti (St A, Ballers) wins the MVP

LaxLessons.com | July 11, 2013
Final: Team Maverik (Blue) 14, Team Cascade (White) 12 A spectacular behind-the-back goal by Riley O’Sullivan (Don Bosco Prep, N.J./Syracuse) off a nice feed from fellow attackman Foster LeBoeuf (Phillips Andover, Mass./Uncommitted) with time winding down put an exclamation point on the win for Team Maverik. O’Sullivan finished with three goals. Three Team Maverik players -- Joseph Manown (La Salle Academy, R.I./Duke), Quinn McKone (Novato, Calif./ Uncommitted) and Ryan Lee (John Jay, N.Y./ Uncommitted) – each had two goals. Simon Mathias (Ridgefield, Conn./Uncommitted), Nick DelBene (Yorktown, N.Y./ Uncommitted), Kevin Hill (Webster Thomas, N.Y./Penn State), Daniel DeSanti (St. Anthony’s, N.Y./Uncommitted) and Richie Lenskold (Bridgewater Raritan, N.J./Uncommitted) each had one goal. Lenskold also had a strong game in the faceoff X. The 5-foot-7, 165-pound Manown showcased a combination of speed and strength and attacked aggressively throughout the game. The 5-foot-8˝, 140-pound O’Sullivan displayed his exceptional stick skills and shot. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound DeSanti, who excelled defensively and on groundballs, earned MVP honors. He even got in on the scoring as noted above, with his goal coming on a pole-to-pole transition opportunity off a feed from Dylan Johnson of Cherry Creek (Colo.). Goalies Turner Uppgren (Choate Rosemary Hall, Conn./Duke) and Bryan Ochs (Syosset, N.Y./Uncommitted) both had impressive outings, effectively communicating with their defenders and each making several nice saves. Attackman Decker Curran (Greenwich, Conn./Michigan) led Team Cascade with three goals. Nicholas Yevoli (Massapequa, N.Y./Uncommitted) and Colin Burke (Cold Spring Habor, N.Y.) each had two goals. Rocco Sutherland (Northport, N.Y./Maryland), Brian Willetts (Smithtown East, N.Y./North Carolina), Stephen Chase (Maclay School, Fla.), Joseph Licata (Sachem East, N.Y.) and John Prendergast (Niskayuna, N.Y./Duke) each had one goal. Yevoli also performed well on faceoffs. Curran, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound righty, is an excellent shooter both on the run and spotting up. He also is a tenacious rider. Prendergast won the halftime fastest shot competition, reaching 100 miles per hour on one of his two attempts from 20 yards out. Other finalists in the competition were O’Sullivan and Willetts.
