Go Big Red!!! Cornell far better team. ACC 2-2, not so good. James Madison waxed Louisville.

D went for a visit to ND, not a very welcoming team. Would have thought LI girl would have been kind to a fellow LI girl- could not have been opposite. Scratched off list, thankfully other options.

Horrendous coach. Squandering excellent talent. Recruiting quality about to slip sharply based on the half dozen or so players I know on the way.

SB v MD up next.
If you want to be the champ you have to beat the champ, right?
JS gets his national title game early this year.

Nobody likes JS and if possible, MD is going to put a thumping on them.

If you took a likeablity poll of top 20 coaches he would be last by a mile but that's how he rolls...

Its a shame because it hurts his kids with officials and with playoff seeding

How do you know about up to six ND recruits coming in? Are you a coach?

And on the flip side he is also the most loved coach by a mile, loved by those who matter the most, his players.

I root for another team but what Joe Spalina has managed to do at Stony Brook is fantastic. Amazing how people hate successful people. Such insecurity. Kudos to Spaliina and Stony Brook for raising the level of play!! Btw Go Gator's

Spallina is playing chess where as most of the opposing coaches are playing checkers. It is amazing what he has accomplished thus far.

Can't be that hated if he's able to retain such great LI talent ! And then mold into a winning product ! Unlike some of these other coaches like ND who can get any one she wants because of the schools reputation and can't do jack with it!!

The Syracuse BC game will be a great one as will SB vs NW. I'm happy NW is on Li twice this year much better than flying to Chicago to watch my daughter ! To chime in regardless of what happens tomorrow what That coach has turned SB into in a short amount of time is astonishing but I think the wildcats could get it done

SB may get by NW, but no national title, you are way ahead of yourself there. They have a very good team this year, but not at the level of Florida. And Florida is not at the level of MD. There is a big spread between teams 1,2,3. Also, SB will broom off next year with the loss of talent.

To say J.S. is universally loved or hated is overstating. He has done a wonderful job at SB, and no one can deny that and his girls love him. He also can be very difficult, and clearly recruits from a single source, and if you do not come from that source he will not even speak with you. Other coaches dislike him not because he win, but because he his arrogant and tough to deal with. Now granted he has recruited from outside his normal course (7 of his las 30 from outside that source), but is that because that well is starting to dry up a bit? and with that being said will other sources recommend SB to there players after being Dissed for 8 years? In the end if your a parent or player from S.B. or Y.J. you love him . If your a coach from another college, or a player or parent not from Y.J. and have had the unfortunate situation of dealing with him you don't. IMHO Stony is doing well but have reached there peak and will never get any further under JS, they are equal with Northwestern who is clearly on a down trend. neither will get past MD.

Interesting I have a younger daughter from a different club and his 19 class is loaded with very good TG players. Regardless for years LI had nothing college wise. We now have a competitive team to watch locally and there is nothing wrong with having aspirations realistic or not. Being ranked 4 is not too shabby

I think people over estimate top talent and system. If players ratings and hype were everything ND and a duke would be better. Fit is everything

Agreed. In my experience, girls from outside of LI do not 'fit' well at a place like SB or Hofstra, or even an Adelphi. It's not that they aren't talented, it's just a different culture. The 'outside' girls think they're going to like it, but when they get there reality hits and they realize it's not what they thought, and are very prone to leave after freshman year. So, JS HAS to pull from LI mostly because he's not going to get much talent from anywhere else. And when you have to pull your resources from a single area eventually it will dry up. Also, what happens when he has a bad season? The local talent will then just go somewhere else, where the coach isn't difficult to tolerate, and the area is nicer. Ut's gonna happen.

Arrogant is an understatement. He would like people to think he's God's gift to lacrosse. Always overcompensating, trying to prove he's the smartest, best guy in the room because deep down inside he knows he isn't. It rubs people the wrong way. Hello #8 seed. Stinks for his girls but they bought into his used car salesman pitch. "If you act now, this old jalopy will be a sweet ride one day."

Florida chokes again! Coach has no clue, her and Halfpenny will find a way to lose every game that matters. UF and ND should be minimum final four teams every year with the rosters they have, very sad for those players

No reason SB can't stay competitive, it's the same model that Maryland uses - state school (tuition is minimal for local kids) makes it easy entice your local kids to stay home, get an education for a fraction of what other schools cost apkand play on a very competitive team

The interest in going to SB will dry up once the bad season hits. I should've been more clear. LI girls are very much a 'what have you done for me lately' type. So, like I said earlier, when a bad season or two comes, where will the LI talent go then? Outside of a sometimes winning program, what else does SB have to offer for a lax kid? The area? Hah!

While I understand the reasons for regional games it gives teams like USC a clear advantage. They are a .500 team if they played on the east coast , who will they play out there , there is little competition.

How did USC do this weekend on the east coast?

Ah, good one. They beat perennial power florida. I'm glad to see the gators out. Too one-dimensional. A little over-rated, as usual. Loads of talent, not good coaching.
