So of the 2021s in the close-in DC area, anyone care to rank the teams (Madlax, VLC, DC Express, NL)?

No mention of it because those holdback kids have reaped the benefits of playing younger kids and get recruited by MIAA hold back schools and go directly on to a Varsity program as a 16yrold Freshman (Who should be a sophmore /junior)...Don't kid yourself

So how come the holdback parents don't worry about making their kids get better? Don't the holdback parents who chose to play their kids against younger kids want their kids to get better too? How are they going to do this playing smaller, younger competition? They are not choosing to play the best competition but according to many it is still working to get their kids seen and playing. What you are saying is that the parents of holdbacks and the kids who are holdbacks are not competitive nor do they care about getting better. Which of course is not true and neither is your argument.

DC Express is dope.... Whole 2021 roster is driving to the games.....Entire roster is 15/16 yrs old

This makes them better because they are more experienced and more developed physically and mentally and beat up on younger kids....They are not necessarily better but just look good playing younger kids....If anything that fact will be more apparent when these kids get to high school....

The motivation to hold your kid back is: 1) to be able to compete with the many other holdbacks at his elite club team and private school. 2) hopefully standout and be recruited.
My son played with kids on the elite teams that were very good players, repeated 8th grade and were superstars the following season. Most of these kids were already D1 caliber kids that probably would have committed as on age 10th graders. Parents egos! The system works for those that are in position economically and egotistically to do so! If there is a clear advantage for those that reclassify, conversely there is a clear disadvantage for those that don't. Otherwise there would be no reason to do so! With 60% of the D1 kids committed by 10th grade and probably 80% by the top 20 D1 teams - age still matters!

DCE beat Madlax couple weeks ago. Madlax getting better. Club Blue lost to Crabs 19-6 on Sunday - but at least they are playing in Top Division and trying to compete.

Madlax - Capital: 8 - Kooper's: 7

Are DC Express and Crabs playing on a different level or should Bitmore and Club Blue have played down a division?

Maybe most "common" for kids going there for academic reasons. Holding you kid back for HS sports does not get no where near the same response as kids that are playing down and always the oldest among other players in YOUTH lacrosse. Huge difference

Playing down and being the oldest works in Youth lacrosse and in some ways even HS ( not as much) ! This trend will only continue and get bigger as days go by.

Probably need couple more weeks of results under whether DCE and Crabs at different level.

Anybody hear anything re NCAA early recruiting ruling yet ? Supposed to be today or tomorrow.

vlc was missing a fogo, goalie, and a handful of midfielders due to spring break vacations. they beat nl 9-2 at full strength this spring

Summer Birthday Boys 2021 have got the shaft again. WSYL changed their rules so they are to old this year. The were due to be the oldest out on field at WSYL this year before age change.

Now ER has been banned after all the money spent on clubs and ID camps this summer. Now no shot at ER.

I saw VLC 2021 play at full strength. They definitely have talent and may be one day as heralded as 2017. But a third of the team seems to have low lacrosse IQ and skills that may have looked good for rec, but won't sustain them at the next level. That's probably why the VLC dudes play the team at AA not AAA. Next year, with real tryouts and tough cuts, they might be able to beat Madlax or Crabs or DC Express. Until then, they'll have to grapple with the second tier teams.

Not true. 4/26 is when it takes effect, at the BOD mtg.

Wrong. NCAA clarified that it was effective last Friday. The rule doesn't say a kid can't commit though.

NCAA has yet to clarify anything. Still nothing released officially.

I play for VLC 2021 we play in the AA division because unlike madlax we start in 7th grade not 3rd and make a lot of cuts also unlike madlax's capital team. We are also still adjusting to/creating chemistry with our teammates; however you are right we do have a few kids(2-3) that are just average players and would be better suited in a rec situation.

Guess they are missing players every week since their only win is still by 1 goal vs NL

Took effect immediately. Doesn't mean you can't announce a previously offered scholarship. Also under NCAA rules a player doesn't become a PSA until he or she starts 9th grade, although hopefully that isn't a real loophole turning this Summer into a 2021 sh**show

This Summer is now about finishing 19's, and getting recruiting boards up in the offices for 20's. 21's can just have some fun this Summer, just with empty sidelines.

It is true, but go ahead and play for as many showcase events as you want to - just don't expect anyone to see you.

Coaches will still be at every showcase watching '21's, making notes. If they see someone they want, they will then find loopholes. Don't kid yourself. This new ruling means nothing.

If you build it, they will come.
