Yes, it is how the world works. Mens' basketball, and I assume football, is held to a different, much lower standard than just about any other team. I hear it first hand from my kids. And I'm just talking academics. You can look to the news to see how they are not held accountable for sexual assaults where the schools are complicit in cover ups. What about that Duke bball player who was suspended for tripping other players? Suspended 3 games. Pffft.

It wasn't made up. Straight from the coaches mouth. You may get an exception from admissions here or there but remember there are only 12- 15 Basketball players.

Maybe, and she seems to have turned away from LI and MD talent for future recruiting classes favoring other areas. Can't see that decision playing out to well for her..

Goalie play had nothing to do with SB Towson Game. Stats right down the line were split. Towson went toe to toe on shots, draw control, caused turn overs, ground balls, and saves. If anything Towson needs to work on shots on goal as they had a very low percentage. You make it sound like they ran into a goalie that owned them, not the case at all especially in the second half.

Football and basketball pay the bills! Lacrosse is a financial loser for both men and women and NOBODY cares except parents of players and a few other friends, alumni and your club director (it's the biggest BS sales pitch - 80% of these kids would still play if they never played club, only difference is they wouldn't get recruited in 9th grade)

the world (and no where is there more evident than a top university) is so PC there is no way in [lacrosse] the admin. would tell a coach of a womens team they need higher grades than the football guys.. they would be slapped with a lawsuit so quickly.

now could she, (or any coach) sit down with a girl and say get a 3.9 and huge board scores or look elsewhere??? absolutely, but she is planning on using the 3.9 gpa to balance the 3.2 kid that had 60 goals this season. they have latitude for the difference makers. there is no hard minimum. except maybe C's on the transcript..

both teams looked very slow, especially for an indoor game, don't think either team finishes in top 10

Here's how it goes: athletic academic advisor enrolls the boys in easier classes with professors known to look kindly on athletes, whether it's missed classes or tests or poor grades. If grades aren't up to par, said advisor gets professor to change them. That's only what I know from my kids. I'm sure other things go on too. This is not done to anywhere close to that extent for girls' teams. It pisses my kids off.

BC will only get better though, still have Kenzie Kent waiting in the wings, Team is young and will figure it out. Cuse looked great today, Rahal and Hawryschuk are great, Donohue is lethal. Draw taker is great at winning it but lost it off the draw a lot. Bc has a great win already with beating Umass, team just had a let down it seemed. Virginia losing to Elon is a lot worse then this loss

Don't forget the Goalie was much better for 'cuse than last year, Much better even as a frosh, great pick for them

BC goalies couldn't stop a beach ball yesterday and the defense was horrible, not a good combination

BC will get better as the season goes on. Sophomore from WB is off to a great start from her knee surgery. That team will go as far as she will take them. 18 points in 3 games this season

Florida teams always come up short against teams with well rounded athletes like Carolina... Mandy likes the single sport lax rats- i.e. low character yellow jackets. Only know one thing, I'm going to the cage bc Dad told me to. The most overated lacrosse community on the planet.. strong island- pfft!!

I wouldn't go anywhere on the character issue but fla does have a roster very different then Carolina as an example. lots of single sport athletes in high school. not gonna find a late developing lacrosse player like 23 for Carolina. multi sport stud in HS getting better and better in college.

A great player but not sure about late developing. She had over 400 goals in HS and was 2x all-American. I agree with the benefits of multiple sports, UNC actually demands it of their recruits. Basketball and soccer are priorities, particularly basketball.

Here is the real story both UNC and Florida get great athletes but the difference is that UNC players always get better as the year goes by and Florida remains the same. I think coaching has a lot to do with that. Look at Cuse year after year they get better as the year goes along , Gary Gait is a great teacher of the game. It's all about getting better each day . At this level the top 3-4, teams all have great talent but can you coach that talent to be selfless ? That's the real question.

if he won't back it up I will. think I can speak for anyone that's come in contact with YJ parents. rude, obnoxious, screaming at the officials and the other players (yes a lot of good teams we know that). if your daughters are called low character it's because of their association with you. they're wearing it.
