Not exactly a "glass is half full" kind of person are you? You sound like the guy who won the lottery and then complains he has to pay taxes on the jackpot......If your kid is committing as a 2020 you have nothing to complain about. Oh, and nobody is making you or your kid do anything. If you don't want to announce it to the world then don't. I doubt a college coach would care. It is the club coaches salivating at blasting the news out to the world.

And, it is the crazy parents allowing it to happen. If you see really concerned about your kid you wouldn't announce it. True fact

In this day and age I find it virtually unbelievable that there is a huge backlog of verbal 2020 commits waiting to be announced. Information spreads like wildfire. To say you know 5 kids that have verbal commitments from Ivy League schools - but - won't say the clubs, positions, etc. is pure BS. Most of the Ivys don't even have their 2019s lined up. If past is prologue we will see a bunch of Ivy Leaue commits this time next year and THEN the kids will actually have to get through the admissions process which is no small feat.

Why so negative? Why would I lie? Every college and club coach knows who these kids are, since they had to cease communications with other interested schools. You are correct about meeting academic requirements. Those are laid out prior to the commitment, the GPA and test scores required for admission. Good luck to all the boys still looking for a good fit school, will be a big year for this age group!

Crush does not have 13, don't believe it. Most of those kids will eventually commit and end up at good schools as many others will from other top long Island teams and programs.

I know 22 kids that have super secret verbals from all the top schools - but they can't talk about it until they sign their NLI.

Are those Crush kids that are Committed to Cuse and Penn?

There is no way 2019s are done. There are a huge group of D1 coaches that won't even consider making an offer to a 9th grader who hasn't played a single high school game. 5 91 players to Penn? Hard to believe...

The 2018's are not done, how could the 2019's be done? There are 71 D1 programs with 10 - 15 recruits per class and a average roster size of 40 - 45 kids.

Well Dean Wormer, is this the same as double secret probation? And specking about not being anyone's business, it is also none of your business. Troll

Won't go through, if they did, would not impact those already committed, including unannounced Ivy verbals

Doesn't matter. NCAA will never implement. They want to police less

Agree, the NCAA doesn't want another rule/regulation that they will have to monitor. Plus, lacrosse is not a top sport for the NCAA, not enough revenue as football and basketball, that is their main focus. NCAA does as little as possible for/with lacrosse, other than drain any income they can from the sport.

The actual date will be 8/31/17 (if it passes the coaches will still be able to contact kids before their Junior year up to 8/31) after that date the coaches will not be able to have any contact with prospective student athletes until their Junior year. However, it will remain to be seen if it passes. I do believe the vast majority of the coaches do want it to pass. The only way it will affect the committed kids is that they will not have any contact with the coaches at the school they have "committed" to until their Junior year.

The NCAA should just make all sports the same - no contact until the Jr year for anyone, any sport, male of female. School risks will go down, and correspondingly no school will be able to snag the phenom Middle School athlete, but this is actually in the best interests of both parties. Kids can actually be kids again!

Agree that a change needs to be made. That said, if this sets off a mad dash with 20s and 21s, it's going to end up causing more problems than solving them for those two classes. Coaches are going to be committing those age groups right up to the end 8/31 and even poorer rush decisions will be made. They should probably start with the 2022 class: no contact until junior year and somehow "grandfather" the 20/21 class to the currently broken system. Not sure how you'd "regulate" it though. . .

Never will happen, you think the coaches want this? They don't. They talk out of bothe sides of their mouths. My son's college coach says this will not pass.

Since this proposal cleared the prior committee it is very likely to be voted and accepted in April with the August cutoff (I thought would be Aug 1). Once approved the rule becomes another compliance item for schools to monitor and their compliance people to watch. every school has an NCAA compliance person and many have several on staff to keep teams and coaches out of NCAA trouble.

This will indeed cause a land grab over the summer if not start earlier. The funny thing will be to watch as club owners try to figure out what to do when they are not the gatekeeper anymore. Also, money-grab tournaments might be affected. I guess college coaches would still attend recruiting tournaments and bide their time until a player's junior year.

I do wonder what would happen if a kid sends an email to a coach prior to their junior year? Kids are not under any NCAA control.

They should grandfather in the 2020 class and start the new rule for the 2021 class since they are not in High School yet. Travel teams will suffer because it will not be as necessary to start playing travel at such a early age. The kids will be kids again and travel teams will lose money.

Won't go through. Besides, several 2021s are already very close to commitment.

They should implement immediately, cancel all verbal commitments and let kids play high school. The kids who earned a commitment before will earn again and those who were left out because of a crappy system will have a chance to grow, learn and be noticed.
