Who won the 2019 division this year for lax for the cure?

What's wrong with having to close teams? I think it's a testament to the program and the quality of girls on both teams. Why the need to bash each other?

Testament to the fact that A team coaches don't develop the girls and play favorites. They moved talented girls down . The best B team players left, and the team willl continue to be best by the the MD teams. Worst year to be a YJ

I'll say it again, doesn't seem like the MD folks want to answer this one.......

OK, this year it's right in your backyard....Virginia. No excuse, won't cost much in money or time, except a SHORT car ride. Tell your directors you want to go, prove all of us wrong. See you guys there?

Not going because it's a weak tournament. Just think, you might be able to brag about your "national title" again. The MD teams like to play against top competition

My daughter tried out for YJ for the first time this year and made a team.
I really don't know whether to advise her stay with her current team or go YJ.
Are they less likely to add players in the older age groups(2nd & 3rd year of HS)if she tries out again next year?
Is it now or never?

All it takes is a few of the MD teams to show up to make it a strong tournament...the money and no college coaches there excuse is weak...we spend tons of money on travel lax, whats a little more? I would think the MD parents would spend a lot of money to shut up the YJ parents...Something doesn't add up here.

What you're not getting is that YJ is not at the same level as the top MD teams. There is nothing to prove. If you want to confirm that again, you will have attend the top tournaments (where MD teams are)

The whole thing is nuts, every Girl from the top 4 clubs will go where they want to go pretty much. You figure there are 15-20 real good programs out there.theres 100 real good club girls out there, so plenty of room in the sand box. My daughter is on one of the top 4 and honestly is not sure she wants to go to one of the big 5 and be just another player, She thinks she might want to go to one of the number 7-12 teams and play right away. they are 13 year old girls, who all are exceptional athletes, let them breathe!!! I'm sure everyone of our daughters would be pissed off if they knew what goes on in this forum! Good Luck to all your daughters this summer!

Never going to happen , they will never play in an age based tourney . They have tried it in the he past and it did not go so well.

We made a move in 8th grade. The longer you wait, the more likely to not make a team. We are very happy with our daughter's coach, and are happy that we made the move, but were coming from a program that was floundering. It was tough for her to leave because of the friends she made, but she made the decision to leave and join YJ. At the end of the day, it is up to you and your daughter to evaluate what you want, and is your current team providing it?
There are commits from many LI programs, and they vary year to year. I think a lot of it is due to the coach of that particular team, the support you receive from the program regarding recruiting, and the team itself (does your daughter enjoy playing with them and is it a good team atmosphere). At HS, its about getting recruited, and only you can determine if she is in a good spot. Again, we (my daughter and I & the return on my investment) are happy that we moved when we did.

We go it alright, "top tournaments" is code word for age based tourneys. Only reasonable excuse not to go.

Just a thought on the National Championships.
U.S. Lacrosse is the main organization that makes all the rules for the game that we all play. They certify all the refs at different levels, the certify the coaches, they provide a platform for most other tournaments to play on.
The U.S. men's and Women's senior and U19 National teams are organized and funded by U.S. Lacrosse. They run and sponsor all the U.S. National teams and tournaments including the Club National Championship.
It is not a recruiting tournament. No college coaches attend, you are missing the point. Yes other tournaments boast strong fields, again, not the point. All the tournaments out there are pure for profit events. This one has a completely different feel as it is merely hosted by the organization that supports all of lacrosse. Don't go, whatever, you won't be missed.

What your not getting is YJ has consistently come down to your homer tournaments , with your homer refs , your homer schedule and consistently beaten your MD teams .Which graduation year is it that you feel you have dominated YJ .

What age group are you talking about?

There is M&D and YJ and then all the rest. Other Md teams are not up to the M&D standard, don't try to plop your club in there and coin the term MD teams. Some other good clubs but definitely a step down.

The age discussion is a joke. Girls don't hold back. No girls are repeating 6th, 7th or 8th grade in MD to improve their chances of getting recruited. LI directors sell that excuse to the parents to explain the losses.

All you have to do is look at last summer. I guess you think all these teams are winning because their players are older?

You've now asked this question like 5 times. I guess you don't like the answer. The tournaments is a joke. It's expensive, there are no good teams there, there are no college coaches there, it's in late July when the girls are happy to be relaxing on the beach after playing lacrosse all fall, winter, spring and summer. Not sure what else you want to hear. Do you really want to have the MD teams come take your National Championships from you too? You already can't win any summer tournaments. Be happy you and TG get to travel across the country every year to duke it out for a meaningless "National Championship". If you weren't so busy hiding form each other all summer you could get it out of the way much earlier.

Yep, the ONE tourney MD teams won't participate in just happens to be the ONE tournament that requires age based teams and VERIFICATION. You're right, that's just a coincidence. Especially considering the MD teams used to participate in it, but they were getting smoked. So let's blame it on (list any MD excuse above). Nothing to see here......nailed it.

It's not a hold back issue. Maryland has 10/1 birthday cutoff for starting kindergarten and NY has 12/1 cutoff so Maryland teams are likely older.

Look at the US rosters they have ages , a lot of kids on those rosters from down south of LI seem to struggle early because their birthdays don't match their grade.Your breakdown is pathetically transparent , let's just reverse it YJ 2020 has beaten MD more than they have lost over the years and beat them multiple times this past summer . YJ 2019 national champs and lax for cure . YJ 2031 has beaten MD more than they have lost over the years of course some of those years they were in diapers.

The YJ parents on this board are a bunch of clowns citing a hold back issue. MD girls club teams adhere by the 10/1 cutoff date imposed by US Lacrosse, there are no hold backs. Now MD boys club teams are a different story.

2023, B better than A the past two years. Best B girls left the program, at least 4. Some A girls left as well because they were fed up. Talent on both teams has declined although the B team has gained one of the better A team players, so with the great coaching, I won't be surprised when B beats A again this year. This year is a mess

LI 2021 in general does not seem to be a very strong grade. No real standouts and a lot of mediocre teams. Maybe the new additions to YJ A will make an impact this summer but MD clubs are a notch above. LI needs to also follow the MD model and start the season earlier if they want to be game day ready when June rolls around

If you MD folks don't like what the "YJ parents" are saying, why doesn't your team come to the US Lacrosse Nationals this summer and shut them up? Fact is, it is the National Championship for youth lacrosse, and if your team chooses not to attend, you don't get to have a say about the winners, do you? You've got to be in it to win it!

M&D has beaten 2021 consistently but no other MD club has a winning record against 2021 blue. In fact last year was the first time YJ ever lost to anyone but M&D. Outside of a lost to the Stars every loss to a MD team was by 1 goal excluding M&D. Not great but hardly a notch below. Bottom line if YJ can win the draw they will win the game. Northwestern had it correct "win the draw rule the world"

The 2021 YJ team will be much more successful this summer. The reason why is the new head coach. Last summer the team was coached by a fill in daddy who had little to no idea what he is doing and was a complete friends and family guy. The new head coach will not care where you are from, how much butt you kiss etc she only cares about winning.Past history dictates this team will have a complete turn around with the new coach.

The YJ 2023 B team will be just fine. Yes, they lost some players to the A team, but the B team will continue to learn an play as a team. That will continue to be the reason for their success.

I'm LI folks and I'm getting tired of you begging the MD teams to go - it's starting to sound pretty pathetic. Guess you're trying to rationalize making the trip? This "National Championship" is about as meaningful as the YJ "All American" game that is played over the summer with only LI girls.

Not a YJ parent, but I must agree with this statement. Quality consistent coaching is the key. Love her or hate her, she can coach a lacrosse team. Especially when you are getting girls who have speed and good sticks. I don't think anyone can deny that the girls on that team have the raw skill, increasing IQ and getting kids in the right spots are what a good coach can do.

Over at TG, BS hs stepped in to a more active role in team coaching not just game coaching. The parents of this age are starting to wake up and demand better coaching after being ignored.
