If your kid is 16 in 9th grade, better off forgetting sports and hiring a tutor.

Any dad who makes sure his son plays against kids 1-2 years younger is a tool. If your kid is so great play in the varsity division. Man up and play up. When high school comes around, no one complains about age, but this isn't high school.
even if you play JV those kids can range in age from 14-16 so a grade 9 is still playing kids older.

The only Tudor that turning "16" year old freshman will need is when he gets to his top IVY school to make sure he maintains his 4.0 GPA he is carrying over from high school. You anti holdback whiner dads with soft kids are all tools.

Majority of recruiting for college lacrosse is done at the club level which is grouped by graduation year. When a 16 year old 8th grader is playing against 13 and 14 years old he is naturally going to look better.

Eventually this scourge will disappear once everyone is forced to go grade based.

Why? If you are in private school and did prefirst, there is a good chance you would turn 16 towards the Spring of your Freshman year. Why would you give up sports? Why would you automatically need a tutor? The kids you are mocking are likely to be very smart, and they didn't do perfirst for sports, rather, they did so die to the curriculum at their school. Maybe you could have benefited from prefirst.

really Canadian Punks go look up the meaning of the word punk these are nice 14 and 15 year old boys trying to find a way to combine athletics and learning at the Univesrity level "Punks" don't do that. That is way overboard

Toughen up and stop crying. Edge is playing by the rules, every team has older players, including yours. The boys are in HS now, give it a break. if you don't like it don't play lacrosse. About a third of the college freshman lax players I know have a 20 year old roommate. Sounds like badminton may be a better option for your son. But you'd probably find something to complain about there too

Very simple way to handle these Canadian punks. Just refuse the game at game time. Do warm ups, and walk of the field in protest. If teams did this every time, they'd either stop coming to tournaments or change their behavior. Tell your coach and your director to grow a pair and walk off the field. No reason to play. A, the younger team is not going to look good, and B, they risk injury. It's the only way. US Lacrosse is useless, tournament directors just care about money and college coaches are oblivious. There are NO RULES. #walkoffthefield

Many people, if not most, have no respect for the Edge program, All of their players are older at every level, its just the way it is. But... to have 2018's playing on a 2018 hockey team but playing on a 2020 lacrosse team is absolutely wrong and is cheating and gaming the system way over the top.

Also, most are tiered of hearing that is the way their school system is and that is way blah blah blah. Then how come these 2018's play on a 2018 hockey team but on a 2020 lacrosse team. Simple, because they are way older than most 2020 lacrosse players.
I saw Edge play Looney's last fall in a tournament in Bel Air, Md. and it was the most disgusting game I have ever seen in youth lacrosse. Edge players much older and bigger and all they were trying to do was physically injure the other teams players. There were so many penalties against Edge I lost count. The refs called the game with about 3 or 4 minutes left, that's how bad it was. Bright spot, Looney's beat these thugs 9 or 10 to 1.

The entire Edge team is born in 2001. Our whole team will have turned 15 by December 31st. The team reclassed after playing tournaments against 2019 teams who were a year or two older then them. Why do parents keep saying their kids are born in 2002. It's extremely obvious the difference between a 2001 and 2002 born player.

As for the Looneys game ONE YEAR AGO. I agree that it was a disgrace as the kids were beating up on the THEN more skilled Looneys team. If you have watched our team this fall you would know that it is way different. Our Edge team can beat any team in the country, including 89+2. We lost by one while missing one of our Hopkins middies, a top pole, and two of our three starting attack with injuries and hockey. Let's see what happens next weekend in Long Island😀

As for that Looney's game...at the time it only confirmed what many of us had seen firsthand, thuggish play and headhunting leaving a trail of injuries behind, topped off by crude parents...eh. Unfortunately that is your organization's "brand" down here now, a lot of rebuilding to do there since everyone has heard about "that team from Canada".
was at the game the player involved no longer plays for Edge. The irony here is the Looney's get to that type of play again Sunday when they face Hardcor who will quickly make all those offended forget abot Edge

So funny that you call parents with on age kids soft, when your holdback can only compete with younger kids. What a wuss you must be raising. As far as Ivy schools go, I doubt a parent that is seeking a "Tudor" for his kid is raising a 4.0 student.

Difference for most of these reclassed kid is "1st round draft pick vs 3-4th round if stayed on age. Whiner dads have soft players regardless.

I really don't understand why someone who wants his 12, 13, 14 or 15 year old to compete against kids his own age make him a wuss. 16 and older fine but when they are younger than 16 - age can make a huge difference. If you disagree and want your son to play against older kids then you can have your child play up. There is no logical reason to play down except that the child is not good enough or not dominant enough when playing on age.

You'd be walking off almost every field. As would all the teams. No one wants to point fingers because EVERYONE is guilty.

Shameful. Sadly this will end badly when a kid is seriously injured by a bigger holdback and US Lacrosse is forced to address the situation when their insurance carrier, Bollinger Sports, demands it.

2020 is High School now. Who cares if Edge is typically a year older; take that weak nonsense to the youth forum.

you say 16 this year last year you said 15 and next year you will say 17. Aghast when your son if he makes it enteres college at 18/19 may play a 23 year old

Yes, you are desperate to have people stop writing about your holdback's inability to play with kids his own age. In high school the older kids are upper classman, not some kid who couldn't make it with his own class and had to find younger kids to try to exploit. Let's be honest, that is weak. 2020 is a high school age, but not a varsity team. You want to apply varsity ages, but don't want to be the correct grade to go along with it. Stop hiding behind a false argument and just admit, your kid can't cut if he plays on age. We all know it about holdbacks, just say it.

Just cause kids are in High School now does not mean that people are not gaming the system. Although their age is an issue, when it come to Edge people are more concerned with their style of play, which could be best characterized as dirty.

Common holdback drivel, easily refuted. A 19-year old is basically a man, not much physical difference between him and a 23 year old - why he's still in college I don't know but I digress...

This is not the case with 13-15 year olds where even six months can make a huge difference, which is exactly what holdback parents of average athletes are hoping for, while they tell the rest of us to play up, such hypocrisy.

It is up to the 2020 club coaches to keep reminding their players of this and to just have them go out and have a good/solid game to get positive attention. Playing like a goon will quickly get you much negative attention.

Ok bitter Looneys dad, go back to your own thread. We know you're mad that your kid got smoked by the Edge player, but it is time to let it go. The college coaches live the Edge boys, the majority of the players are being heavily recruited as we speak.

Edge players are highly athletic , very skilled , and very physical. They play tough . It is a contact sport and if intimidation is a part of their game then so be it. Toughen up or don't play.

2020 is High School now. Who cares if Edge is typically a year older; take that weak nonsense to the youth forum.

Just cause kids are in High School now does not mean that people are not gaming the system. Although their age is an issue, when it come to Edge people are more concerned with their style of play, which could be best characterized as dirty.

Ok bitter Looneys dad, go back to your own thread. We know you're mad that your kid got smoked by the Edge player, but it is time to let it go. The college coaches live the Edge boys, the majority of the players are being heavily recruited as we speak.
Bitter...because you got embarrassed, nope. Would just like to keep the focus on stick skills, passing, shooting, playmaking etc. not dropped shoulders, verbal threats, late hits and stomped feet.

I was also at that game a year ago and it was more than one player playing out of control and getting called for illegal hits etc. It's a shame edge played like this. I have not seen them since last year and I sincerely hope then have changed how they play. Being 2020's all of the kids on every team needs to realize that most all of their games this fall and next year will be recruiting/showcase and have college coaches watching. Believe me, coaches don't want to see this and if they do, kids who play like that are quickly overlooked. It is up to the 2020 club coaches to keep reminding their players of this and to just have them go out and have a good/solid game to get positive attention. Playing like a goon will quickly get you much negative attention.

The kid youre talking about is now committed to a top school

Well that top school is getting pretty desperate for success in the NCAA tournament.

There is a big difference between playing like that and playing like a goon and deliberately trying to hurt somebody.
Haven't you realized, the NCAA and on field official's are trying to take the unnecessary hits out of the game. True, it is a contact sport but not to the extreme that a player tries to injure another. That is not how the game was meant to be played. It is not a contact sport like football. I guess you could care less about concussions. Are you going to say that is also part of the game. I'm from NY and if we never saw an edge team again that would be fine with us. Goon squads are not welcome or appreciated in this sport. Pay attention to the direction lacrosse officials are trying to take this game, and eliminate the bs you described out of the game of lacrosse. Ice hockey mentality doesn't fit lacrosse.

Which school? I'd only believe it if I saw it.

FYI I have not posted on this thread before but I will try this one more time. I know it is getting old but you obviously don't get it. As the boys all get older and a majority of them have hit puberty then the advantage of being older is decreased. Please tell me why you would have a 15 or 16 year old play against 14 year olds. Give me a legitimate reason why anyone would do this. Telling me that I need to man up and have my wuss son play older kids is not a reason. Why wouldn't you have your son play kids his own age or play against older boys? Using your logic you should have your son play up so that he is ready for college. Waiting for someone to provide an answer. We all know the answer but it might be fun to see you dance around it - or more than likely just insult me.

I do agree, my son is a true 2020. Last year he had a tough time because he was late to mature so the disparity definitely made him look weak. We got through it and puberty has hit. He is now doing great and the hold backs are not an issue. My advice would be to persevere through the nonsense, if your kid is truly a good player, things will even out this year or next. We can't change the mentality of the sneaky cheating weasels, but through dedication, and talent they will be surpassed, because most of them are not good and their parents are grasping at any way to make their kid look better. We welcome the holdbacks now and enjoy beating them, so sweet

I have never heard one positive thing about an Edge team. Your not tough, your cheap. There is a difference. Toughen up?? No play the game by the rules. Trust me, if you brought any of your team down against a top PA team and the refs said "have at it" the teams would wipe their a$$ with you. Look at the Connectlax instagram up right now touting to 'tag a dpole" more like dHe##. The kid t's off on a kid batting for a gb. He totally blinds sides the kid. Thats a Pu$$ move. Again not tough, your cheap oh and old.
. The only way the people from Canada know how to play lacrosse, late hits, cheap hits, trash talk. They very much disrespect the game of lacrosse. I agree with the NY poster, keep them out of the US for lacrosse. Maybe we also need a wall on our northern border. Yep, that would work.

Stop crying ye baby
. Crying? Seems like you are the one crying because you are being called out as a bunch of thugs and that is the only way you know how to play lacrosse. It is many areas of the US where you are not welcomed. I would guess the only other person even more unwelcome is the dirtbag Canadian Justin Bieber.

the biggest farce is the one where you believe the age thing stops givng the edge at 15, it continues through to 19/20+ like a 19 year old against a 22 year. you know when that man strength kicks in.
