Guess again, moron! On second thought, keep running your mouth because it is so much sweeter when they do lose. You put so much pressure on these young boys, learn from the past, stay quiet and enjoy the victory if it comes....but remember, it is a long way away.

Touched a nerve? SE will be a dominate force again this year, as they have for a time now. Only in your words a "moron" would say its sweet when a team looses. All I'm saying is they have the talent, what happens next is up to them and luck certainly plays a role! You never know who is out there practicing to be a game changer!

What do mean "again?" No domination last year.

Haha that's funny! Lost 3 games, all by a goal, two OT, I'd say that's dominate.

Losing to Se the last few years does not make an ugly season. An ugly game maybe, but cant define the season by a game. And the Whitman game, a one goal loss in the playoffs, #!&&@ please - Stop!

It very well may be your opinion but it is not fact.

In the past 31 years here are the programs and how many county championships they have won during that time period. Since 1986:

Ward Melville - 15 County Championships
West Islip - 9 County Championships
Smithtown E - 2 County Championships
Northport - 2 County Championships

Sachem (when combined) - 2 County Championships
Smithtown (when combined) - 1 County Championship

Not ver deep.

Oh, you're one of those, only championships matter. What a jack [lacrosse].

No, not one of those. Just pointing out that the league is not up for grabs. It is not five or six teams deep. There are one or two teams every year that have a reasonable chance at winning. Some years there are three or four (never five or six). Look at the actual results not some parents opinion at the beginning of the season.

Yes each year only one team comes out. They advance from a game with 2 teams. That doesn't make it a two team league. The year has many ups and downs and a bad playoff game doesn't make it a two team league. Good luck to all teams. Not sure there will be a clear 1 until the end of the season.

Dominate; v. having a commanding influence on. Translation for the SE parent...17 games, lost 3 games, won by only 1 goal in 3 more games, won by only 2 goals in another 2 games. So that is 8 games in total that you can not state they were dominate....hmmm will give you one stat- dominate in 47% of the season based on the other games as shown in record last year. Again, 1 and 2 goal games (and we all know losses) are not defined as dominate. keep reaching.

Soooo....... How did your team do? And how were they more dominate? Either you're Quot, who had a good year but were deer in headlights against WM and got lucky with the win over SE, but still a win, and hats off to a tough team. Or You are WM who blew it big time at the State Championship. Embarrassing loss, you were overplayed all over and won the majority of your season games against the best competition by a goal as well. Must have been a long bus ride home. So who are you with the big mouth??? and who else would be considered dominate? When I said dominate, I was referring to the top cohort. This year it will be a short list. Dominate to me means you make it to the end, final 4.

I think Comsewogue, Sayville, BBP and ESM could have a say in how exciting it is. That along with what could be deemed as "Exciting" roster moves.

Word is they are moving down to C Division. Which is funny because on any given day they could compete with most A Division teams. That being said, Cold Spring Harbor may have very difficult time getting off LI the next few years...

Agree. CSH will be fine this year. Big drop off for the next few years after seniors graduate. They had a good run the last few years.

Some may think it is funny, maybe ironic is better, since the coach openly promoted holding back and playing down.

You were told by the CSH coach to hold back your son? WOW, that is a huge accusation. Did you bring this to the AD? Better yet bring it to the BOE, I am shocked that the HC of the CSH lacrosse team told you to hold back your son. You MUST report this immediately!

As posted many a time on here, reading comprehension is not a strong suit to many. Or someone is trying to divert from the culprit. To be clear its not the CSH coach, he just needs to keep his hands to himself. The coach that said it, said it, in a travel team format. So no AD involvement, not yet at least, but it is coming for sure eh.

The post was about CSH. The reply was that the coach told the parents to hold back the kids. So maybe writing is not the strong point. Because it was written as if the CSH coach said it, which I believe to be complete nonsense. Or a LIE so there is no confusion.

The coaches at St. Anthony's and Chaminade who also own a million dollar travel lacrosse program admittedly and routinely instruct 14 -16 year olds that they should "hold back". They then get another year of Express "tuition" from them. Now an unfounded implication that a public school coach suggested one player should do to that causes this comical indignation.

Here is how I read it going back to the beginning.

Word is they are moving to C (they SWR) which is funny because they (SWR) could compete in A. That being said (new subject) CSH could have a tough time getting the island (due presumably to SWR now in c)

Why is that funny (SWR moving to C). Based on enrollment. And (new subject) CSH will be fine.

SWR coach openly recommended to his travel families they think about holding their kids back. Then potentially led by example.

You can read it right here - the St Ant JV coach & Express owner spoke with me and told me the loopholes to hold my son back.

Whether it be repeating at private if staying private, or using Friends Academy for one year, complain about education level, then go back public. He continued to tell me to bring my son to the practice of a younger grad year to see how much he'd dominate.

I told him my son was an A++ student and there is no need. He said it didn't matter.

I was told the same thing regarding my older son, he is committed to a top 20 program on age. Regardless, don't screw a kid up by holding him back for lacrosse. Take a minute to consider if you are doing it for him or you.

think they were saying 2 things...go to Friends for a year and complain that the education was no good. How is the education at Friends?

or just remain in a private and just drop a grade. Not sure that works in the Catholics. Or else why not PG at the Catholics. Pay the tuition which is less than a private or college tuition and have at it.

confusing. when do you know if you want to PG Jr year. What are the better school to PG at. Are there any on LI?

It was meant to show two options that were presented by the coach/owner (the 2nd is what he and another family 'figured out'):

1. If you are already private and staying private...just repeat, not a big deal.

2. Or if the family is currently public and wish to stay in public for HS...use Friends academy for one year in a middle school grade...go back to public school district and complain the education at Friends was not good and demand you want your child to re-renter in the same grad year that was just completed. Bad curriculum because of inexperienced low-paid teachers, for example...create believable reasons. Happens all the time.

Or just home school your kid. If you really want to be a holdback so bad, just play down, see how it goes, no rule against that either. Then if you get recuited for a certain grad class, take a year off before college. Too bad none of this will make your kid a better player. All of this is incredibly silly!

So at St. A's you can just elect to repeat a grade? And parents pay for this kind of education? You have coaches trying to get the kids to repeat a year of HS at 9K per, all for a sport with minimal scholarship money, and the parent who was told this has no intention of reporting it to the administration? Doesn't say much about the education, coaches or parents at St. Anthony's.

dont think that works in St. A's or Chammy or any other catholic school on LI, maybe Luhi.

I have been involved in this conversation, and the options that were discussed were about how best to market a 14 year old to College recruiters. Anybody that would take advise from ANY club coach about anything other than lacrosse is insane, but if lacrosse is that important to you and you feel that lacrosse is a gateway to a great education than why not listen to what they have to say, you don't have to do it, just here your options. No different than parenting advise, take it all in and than do what you think is best. We never considered holding back for educational and social reasons so it was never even discussed but that doesn't mean it is not right for some kids and I have no problem with a club coach explaining it.

They are talking about doing it in 8th grade or earlier, before entry into St. A's or Chaminade.

Look back a couple of posts. One poster says St. A's coaches are instructing "14-16 yr olds" to hold back, 14-16 yr olds are grades 9-11. I know the whole repeat 8th grade thing, but that's not what one of the previous posters is alluding to.
