How do the playoffs work this year? Is the power-conference its own thing or do those teams go to their class bracket come playoff time?

I feel like the biggest thing holding lacrosse back at Long Island public schools is the coaching. Some of it is just god awful.

The biggest thing holding lacrosse back is that it’s a sport for wealthy kids. That’s it. Simple answer. Try not to overthink it

Definitely a fair argument! The pay to play model has ruined youth sports.

I beg to differ - how many D1 locker rooms have you been in? Or are you just a bitter man who needs to play blue collar victim? So over played and untrue. Keep crying in that pillow in search for something to blame. If you have so many social equity issues with the sport pick another sport. Whining won’t help your personal issues.

Very hard to get Top D1 exposure without being on the right club team. That costs $$$. Coaches love to recruit from club directors they know and have a track record with. They go to high end tournaments that City Lax kids arent participating in. The clubs all "sell" recruitment. D1 rosters are very prep school / top club heavy. You're ignorant if you're thinking otherwise... or show us a roster that looks different. It's gotten much worse in recent years too.

Yea, but South Side is always over achieving .......

Please explain your logic

Seriously. SS hasn’t won a championship since 2004. How the coach has survived this long is insanity.

Neither have 98% of the other teams in nassau county. At least SS has stayed consistent.

Says the guy who bought his kid a roster spot. What a lowlife.

Many go for a better sport experience. A lot more kids recruited from the Catholic schools teams than SS or other public school teams. By the time high school rolls around people are over the political nonsense, parent involvement and clear conflicts of interest.

Probably densest post on here. There are plenty of good qualified parent coaches or as this thread calls daddy coaches. Many of them have coached in district for a while and they should not be forced to step aside when their son becomes grade to play on the team. GC and SS and prior MHS coach come to mind. However- conflicts and problems arise in some districts when a parent coach is hired when his son and son’s friends are already on the team. If the parent coach coaches a club team of varsity age. Conflict is larger …how can parents and players not feel or see favoritism regarding personnel decisions playing time or even coaching strategies This is not PAL or club it’s high school lacrosse

Nepotism runs deep all around the island, but at the end of the day the best thing your kid can do is work their butts off day in and out in practice and give the coaches no reason to bench them.

In my town have seen upperclassmen who are bigger/stronger/faster get benched for 8th graders who weigh 120lbs soaking wet and when the PAL Director is part of a big organization and just so happened to play college ball with the varsity coach ..... well it makes you wonder.

No 8th graders should not be playing Varsity Lacrosse. It is a bad precedent, especially since most of the 8th graders pulled up are heading to SA's or Cham anyway. Why are these public school coaches investing in developing young, non-impact players who are leaving their teams? It creates a toxic environment for the rest of the players who have put in the time and does nothing for the long-term development of the program. Of course, there is always an exception- a kid whose stats and impact speak for itself. But very rare.
