Public school teams shouldn't hold a candle to private sector. The public school kids are on-age and all live within two miles of each other. The private schools are mostly hold-backs, actively recruit, offer scholarships, and pull in kids 30+ miles away (the ones that don't board locally). It would be embarrassing for any private school to be ranked lower than a public school.

Can you share us what kids have committed and where from the public schools? I can’t seem to find a list

What is the Ops problem? No one ranked Hereford or Fallston ahead of BLs JV. Or any other top private’s JV. They can’t get a mention for doing well in their class bc they’re public? But StP can get a mention as a private for going what - 4 and 7 or something like that? Okay.

What is the deal with Culver Lacrosse?
They have Spalding, McDonogh, and Boys Latin on the Culver website schedule as real games, but Spalding considers their Culver game a scrimmage while McDonogh & Boys Latin consider the Culver games as real games.

I would put the MIAA B and C classes ahead of 1A and 2A schools.

Does anyone have the results from todays games?

CH could have scored about 40 on Hereford if they wanted to.

But that’s not the point at all. Privates are older kids with more resources who should dominate public kids.

But this was about rankings and I’m not sure Hereford is better than st joe or Curley.

Culver is a joke when it comes to this. Did the same last year and wouldn’t correct the issue when contacted.

He was a big football player too and some of those lax schools aren’t so good on the gridiron. I think a number of his family went to MSJ.

Marriotts Ridge is a 2A school that had 3 kids go D1 last year. How many MIAA B and C schools can say that? Glenelg Country (MIAA B) plays Glenelg HS this year, bet Glenelg HS smokes them.

McDonogh crazy overrated.

Again, for all those that dont understand the ranking that came out. The public school system in the state is broke up into classes that are determined by population.The ranking is very simple in that they put the top team from every class on the list.This is for them and their class league.This doesnt mean they are better than any Private school team not on the list. Its not rocket science except for those who cant read.
Also, if you are a private school and not on the list, then Im sure its a bit embarrassing.
Severna Park, Arundel, Broadneck, Howard, Glenelg,Mount Hebron and others have had a ton of top level D-1 players ,D-2 and D-3 players over decades.

Have some good players but the MIAA is generally overrated.

Rankings are the door-prizes for teams that dont win. BL won the toughest league in the country last year and could care less where they were ranked and focused on winning. Rankings dont award rings. Ask Maryland. Win the last game or try again next year. And speaking of Maryland, always the brides maid, they are out to change the sport and they are. They are proof-in-point that rankings are comfort food for losers. Maryland clearly claims no victory in being ranked #1 again.

Enlighten me-please! WHY is is so offensive to a private school parent that a public school/player could be better then yours? Are we really going to get in the debate AGAIN (a few pages back), where private parents don’t think public school kids are playing at the D1 level? Get over yourself & your kid.

Rankings are for the same couple dads on here who need to tell everyone their kid is the best. Any self respecting person is smart enough to figure that out. The loudest ones are the most insecure and need something carry on about. It gets clicks.

NO FOGO does not account for the lack of production from the top recruit and sloppy overall team play-doing less with more...

John Carroll just beat a MD public Oakdale the other day. I think they play some other publics too.

MIAA-A dad here. Some private dads are a little tight under the 1/4 zip collar about status, and you must know by now that it's a feature of all youth sports but *especially* lacrosse, crew, and perceived "elite sports." It's that simple. They cannot let.it.go. Yes it is exhausting. Football games feature some even worse behavior but luckily fewer total hot head dads.

On D1 numbers, everyone knows some public school athletes go D1. If anyone on BOTC denies this, they are trolling you. And relatively few

But apples to apples...Severna Park 2021s had 2 D1 commits total, right? Loyola....hardly a private school frontrunner....... had 11 on national signing day alone (and an additional 7 D2 and D3 commits on signing day). I think ultimately at Loyola, all but 1 2021 senior is playing (or "playing") in college.

I would guess you could scale up those numbers for McD, BL, Calvert Hall.

And you could scale Severna Parks numbers down for any public HS aside from Towson, Dulaney, Sev Park, Hereford, Broadneck, or Marriotts Ridge.

100% accurate, but what does that have to do with the contention that "Severna Park has had many D1 commits over the decades!"

If a kid wants to continue to play in college, he should play in college. Whether it's on club, practice team, varsity backup, or the next Shellenberger. Many athletes would be thrilled to be the #3 goalie for Georgetown or UVA for the (slim) opportunity to "play one more day." However, sure, many athletes would rather move on with the next chapter of their lives than ride the pine. Who cares? What a great problem to have as a young man....to need to make that kind of decision.

I'll tell you who cares - Lax Dads wringing their hands because they can't send highlight film to their country club bros any more, and who can't tell said Bros that their kid received -specifically - a "lax scholarship." Get over yourselves.

I think that’s a generous estimate for those public schools based upon history, not the present reality. But carry on.

Entry level sales job at 45K + commission and a High School lax trophy. The true measure of success in life if you live in Baltimore or AA county.

SP had 3 D1 commits from the class of 2021 (one starts for Air Force). Two other 2021's could have played D1 and are playing club in college. Certainly not as many as private schools. There is a place for anyone that wants to play in college!

Spalding has some of the best dressed coaches and of course the have nice hats.

How man of those D1 commits, independent of where they went to school, end up leaving the game or transferring to a school with a lower ranked program? I suspect the numbers are large outside of the few who see the field early in their careers. I'd rather see stats for who played for and graduated where than where they committed. Also curious how many go back to school because they couldn't get the degree they wanted while also playing lacrosse. Lots of Communications and Sports Management majors in the D1 ranks. Using what school allowed you the privilege to try out for a spot (committed player) as the measure of how "successful" any given school is is a narrow view, but it's all that matters are the lax rankings as we see on these boards every day.

And mandatory drug testing for athletes and those caught having relations in the locker room or in one of the videoed fights that occur on campus.

What do you do when your teams stink and players dont get recruited to college or even invited to showcases? Create an event and force all you players to pay to attend. Yes pay again and even more. I am done with True Lacrosse. The biggest scammer in the industry. #walmartlacrosse

Wait.. Fights among the lacrosse players or other sport players at Spalding? I thought the fights were among football players and not the lacrosse players. However the lacrosse players were filming the fight but not participating.

The numbers of who gets recruited to D1 are pretty clear, public vs private, at least from NoVa to Mass.

Once you are in the door at a D1 program, nobody cares where you came from and you are subjected to all of the above problems which are real problems. Young Millon will learn this in about 18 months. I think you would be hard pressed to prove that D1 lax athletes from private schools have a different professional/life trajectory than D1 lax athletes from public schools. I think *especially* because D1 programs will push students (whether you had a 4.5 GPA at Gilman or a 3.2 at Dulaney or a 2.9 at BL) take on easier courses of study. All of them.

Does anyone know what the % player attrition (transfer, dropout, or just leaving the team) are at D1, D2, D3? That's an interesting question.

When playing an out of conference opponent it’s only a game if you’re confident in your team. Otherwise, it’s a scrimmage. And your best players weren’t 100%.

Or you've lost players to injury or have a lot of unknowns and are experimenting with line ups. Unless you're looking for the national championship, if you don't have a set line up, you're experimenting. Kind of like pre-season football. Ratings don't mean anything, its all about the Conference championship.
