Let's not confuse things....FCA is a great organization and is a positive force among young athletes. The FCA lacrosse organization, however, is competing by bending the rules (like the Crabs and most of the "elite" clubs). Most competitive clubs do this....Laxachusetts obviously has several as well. It is a systemic problem and needs to be fixed but you guys have beaten this dead horse ad nauseum.

The fees are less because they are not a for profit organization. Novel idea that the club's focus isn't on making money. the club is a Christian organization, not tied to any church.

Which means you can not complain or expect anything out of them because they are not making a profit. When a team is for profit you can demand you moneys worth and action.

Laxachusetts actually has a few kids on their 2020 team who will be 2021 in the fall should be interesting those kids will most likely be replaced by true 2019 players

If expectations by any club are established up front and you and the club have the same idea and priorities, you shouldn't feel the need to complain.

And politics are fair also. And cops treat everyone the same. And if you work the hardest you will be the best. Can you think of anything else people say but really do not believe.

Besides politics which is on par with the prefirst/ holdback mess smile . Most cops do treat everyone the same in the same situation. And for the majority of people if you work at something the hardest..you will be the one of the best.

most of the FCA fathers were alter boys who parted their hair in the center. Their most often heard phrase was "its ok son, God will forgive you".

I find it really funny that teams like to think the parents of a team are different then the parents from there team. We are all in the High level travel lacrosse world. So we are all crazy and every team has the loud dad, crazy mom, and know it all dad. They are all the same.

I heard another Crab defender was made offer from UNC and has committed. That makes 3rd kid from Crabs and 5th kid from Baltimore 2020 teams to commit to UNC. I find this funny and truth is some of these kids aren't strong players now and good chance they won't be 4 years from now. Just illustrates the misperceptions about early recruiting. I'll be the one on this forum 4 years from now that says I told you so when 3-4 of these kids decommitt because UNC says we want u still but don't have any money because we spread it around to 25 players and only have 14 scholarships. Comical. But at least dads and kids can wear their UNC gear and pump their egos up.

The Crabs UNC commits are older and bigger. Against kids their own age they would be mediocre.

We played against Kelly kid for FCA several times and besides him having really strong left he isn't that great. Big holdback from Crabs and fogo from Loonies are legit. 2 Crabs defenders I'm shocked about because neither is very good.

yeah cause you know anything about talent. what a cynical statement. Both are their all great players. and kelly is a gamer. I saw him drop like 6 on HHH 2019 score sheet didn't mention if they were left or right hand goals.

We play for one of AA MD teams other then Crabs, Looney's and FCA. We have competed against them 4-5 times each over the past six months and from what I have seen UNC knows what they are doing. Holdback or not, those Crabs players are very good. Looney's D pole and Middy selected are top 5 in the 2020 class at their position and the Fogo..well we know he is deserving. Both attack very good regardless of legacy for one of them. There are still 100+ 2020 roster spots on incredible D1 schools for our boys so there great things to come. Congrats to those players and their families who got a slightly earlier look..

HHH is awful and I've seen him get D'd up and not score a single goal several times. He can't beat a defender with speed because he has none. News flash..all Defenders in D1 have speed. He won't make transition. Count on it. Other attackman from FCA who committed to Michigan has much better chance..he can play with both hands, has speed, has tenacity. I'd take him any day over Kelly kid.

You are all delusional. He scored 12 goals in the Under Armour Tournament including the game winner vs DC in OT. He can flat out play. He has benefitted greatly from playing up on the FCA 2019 team, as have the CHC goalie and Loyola A/M committed to MD. Play your boys up, not down. That is how they get better.

Kind of funny, the father of the "BIG GUY" posted thanking a coach for the invite his son (the BIG GUY) received to the Committed Combine, held a few days ago. The loudmouth father stated "SOO Much talent". There probably was a lot of talent there, too bad his son is not one of the talented ones. As others have pointed out, he is just big but at best just an average player.

Omg enough about hold backs.. It is what it is right now . Get your kid in the weight room, continue to work on stick skills & have him get his grades he will be fine. By 10th grade he should be able to compete with all grades the be a D1 player. If you're still complaining then maybe buy a set of golf clubs for you & your son & call it a day. Stop hating if they're not changing the rules.

Age Groups
A & B Levels For All Divisions

Birth year based
Pee Wee (05/04)
Bantam (03/02)
[lacrosse] (01/00)
HS Elite (99/98) this is for your USBOXLA in SJ Cal this is run by Matt Brown from Univ of Denver. It is the way lacrosse is conducted in Canada. This could be moved to every year because east coast lacrosse has critical mass but it is how it should be done.

Indeed the grade based and holdback issues are the norm now, and there may be no changing this, but this hockey-like model is the best. Clubs can field older teams in each age group and younger teams also. Hockey tournaments use myyhockeyrankings website to gauge where teams should be placed so each tournament division is level (ie no playing down). Also, if teams have a blend of major/minor year kids the team will be forced to pick a level. If they have a mojority of older kids they play in the older part of the division - ie [lacrosse] Major.

Of course, the tournament and club owners want to make it easy for college coaches, so they stick to grades.

I do fine the irony of the ease for the college coaches so they do grade based teams. But 90% of all these showcases and prospect days but 2 or all 4 grades together on the field at the same time.
The best way I think to fix it is to have them in one year windows and have them have some kind of marker to say what grade they are in. I saw at a softball showcase they had the girls wear colored arm bands. It would take 5 min. to put a colored sticker on each kids helmet to say what grade they are in. This would like the college coaches now what they are looking at and it would solve the reclass problem. I think this would help the college coaches more because they would see a real view of the kids with there real peers. IE kids there age not there grade. But they would be able to know the kids grad year with the sticker on the helmet.

Don't you get it..For the 1000th time college coaches don't give a sh*t how old a player is in 8th grade. Contrary to what parents with smaller kids think. In their eyes the system isn't broken. Yes, they all want early recruiting to end but as it stands within the current system not one coach desires any of what you or other holdback critics have suggested. Ask any coach at the next level and they will tell you how they are able to spot the most athletic kids on the field in the first 3 mins of any game at any level. They are interested in fast, skilled, smart, athletics kids that fit their system and have additional upside and are never wondering if that players bday is June or Dec. Complete nonsense.

Except the two Calvert hall kids are august birthdays and were playing with their own age group (2019) until they decided to drop down to 2020. The UMD kid is a pre-first holdback. They weren't "playing up"

Early recruiting is all about additional upside. And there is no way you can see this up side when a kid is 18 months older then the kids on the field.

Hahaha.. Really makes me laugh. This summer coaches guilty of early recruiting consistently watched the top 8-10 teams (which include crush, fca, crabs, looneys, Hawks, Sweetlax, West coast stars, LI express etc ) and a select few showcases like Showtime, UA, and blue chip . Basically they viewed a core group of 120-200 athletes over and over. If we had access to all the birthdays of those "core" kids there would be so few examples of 18 month differentials in Birthdays. Point is the median bday at showtime or UA for example is probably Jan 02 Therefore there will be some kids slightly older and some kids slightly younger. They view a group of very talented kids competing against their peers and a 6 or 13 month gap here and there is the furthest thing on their mind. Fact!

That's why it's the norm now. College coaches essentially pick a team for each grad year. The clubs and tournaments make it easy for them to do that. They pick up their tournament notebooks ordered by grad year, team and player. Keeps it simple for them.

College Coaches are interested in fast, skilled, smart, athletic kids that fit their system, but will NOT remain interested if the parents of those fast, skilled, smart, athletic kids are loud, pushy and overbearing... Do your kids a favor, don't get in the way of THEIR college recruiting process. In the end you both will be happier.
