I believe the last go round Team USA only had two that were not in college the year prior to the games.
The talent level is so high across the board that cutting from the 100 to 50 to 30 to 25 and then 23 for the games is next too impossible but I am quesitoning so many of the players from the 3 schools where the coaches are from as well as taking 10 that are in HS when I would think a year in college would be preferable.
Not hear to disparage anyone as all are extremely qualified - time will tell if the coaches picking their own players and such a "young" team will work.
Kind of interesting that Garden City High School lost 7 games last year which as per this team had 2 of the top 6-7 defensemen in the country on that team. Kind of a joke if you.

Good luck in Canada!!!
this could be a result of the hold back issue getting more prevalent, I doubt very much that this team is "younger" then past U19 teams since this is age based but the fact that we have so many kids repeating a grade it might be that there just are not that many U19 eligible kids in college as there used to be

Both of those GC defenders are OUTSTANDING players. GC's losses certainly were not because of them. Great, great players. Congrats to both (and all the other players who made the team!)
FCA National has 8 who played on their Vail or NHS teams
Were those one time only invites? Other clubs also had a few kids that did guest appearances. Don't think that really counts. Many of these clubs invite top kids to play in elite tournaments. that does not mean they play for that club.
three Goalies and three FOGO? only 4 attack? Does that make sense?
they'll need to submit 2 of the 25 as alternates prior to start of tournament - most likely a goalie and fogo. Makes sense for specialty positions. If you only keep 2 on 25 and 1 gets hurt between now and july then all eggs would be in one basket. If that player got hurt during tournament then it would be big trouble. One or more of the middies is penciled in as 5th attack
