Smithtown West dominated the faceoffs over Sachem North (freshman faceoff man) which was a major factor. Seemed like the Sachem North coach pulled his foot off the throttle in the fourth period.

Saturday Night Action : Garden City 10, Manhasset 6

The Garden City players jubilantly passed the Woodstick Trophy around from player to player, just the way the ball moved around on offense. Seemed like everybody got a touch.

The Trojans used a balanced attack, featuring nine assists, and scored six straight second-half goals to beat Manhasset, 10-6, Saturday night in the 120th edition of the Woodstick Classic before an overflow crowd of more than 3,000 at Manhasset High School.

The Indians' 45-game winning streak, dating to 2009, ended as they fell to 9-1. Garden City improved to 9-2 with the non-league victory.

Garden City gave Manhasset all they could handle throughout the game. Manhasset had way too many balls on the ground in the offensive zone thanks to Garden City's slashing defense. Manhasset's passing attack seemed slow and later in the game (fourth), it seemed that individual efforts inside were the only attack formations from Manhasset. Look, 45 straight wins is no small feat, just that Garden City seemed to expose the offense with some strong defense.

In Saturday night action, be sure to watch for the results of the Chaminade vs. Manhasset match on Saturday evening. Almost everyone that BOTC Industries has heard speaking about this game has called this to be a two goal, one goal regulation, or one goal overtime affair.

Cagesage, there was a huge fight at the end of the East Islip and Connetquot game. Trash talking and bad mouthing throughout the fourth quarter that had brawl written all over the field. The refs called the game with about ten seconds left on the clock after breaking up the fights. Very disappointing end to what was for three quarters a solid game.

Exactly how many overtime wins has West Islip managed to escape? This feels like the third one where they could have been bumped off. Just goes to show that failure and destiny are divided by no more than the width of the pipe.

Key play in the game took place with about four minutes remaining and the score tied at 2-2. Chaminade was a man-up and lost control almost immediately after the restart. Manhasset killed thirty seconds, drew a flag from the Flyers to kill the remaining time, and maintained control with Moroney scoring the game winner.

In a much anticipated matchup, Sachem North destroyed Northport, 18-4, yesterday. The one was all Sachem North with a 13-1 score at the midpoint break. Certainly a powerful statement game to secure a first round conference playoff bye. No doubt at this point that West Islip, Ward Melville, Smithtown West, and Sachem North have done more than enough to have the first round byes in the field of twelve.

Sachem North looks like the program is finally being unleashed - their last three or four games have been out of control - great offense is now clicking. Good luck SN heading to the playoffs.

Can anyone explain how Suffolk's mysterious powerpoint system works, for example if Walt Whitman with 108 Powerpoints by some miracle beat West Islip with their 182 points, how many points would Whitman get and does the lost (in this case WI) get any?

Before BOTC Industries tries to explain the system, let us first point you to the technicalities of the Power Points System. Please take a look at the following link on the Section XI web site :

Power Points Rating System

Armed with the examples, you should be able to see the scoring system in action.
