The kids that wear their travel team logo wear everywhere and parents who suck up usually get the first invitations to take the test. Its the mini FAF at the school level. Don't sound surprised that the coach sought you out. I am sure that you dropped your hints
Your reply doesn't make sense. If they are not letting the kid take the test then why would they have been sucking up? Suck up, get invited to take the test and then say no, that doesn't seem like the best plan.
