State legislatures - 26 R ; 18 D ; 5 split Governors - 29 R ; 21 D Most pundits (even on the left) are expecting Republican to get a majority in the Senate as of Tuesday. Republicans already enjoy a commanding majority in the house.
I have to agree that the future elections may favor Democrats only because the current administration is letting people from third world countries pour over the border. Unfortunately welfare state and unfettered immigration are not sustainable so we will end up like so many failed socialist states before us. Like most Democrat policies this immigration will hurt the poor and middle class the most, and the rich will rake it in like they have since Obama took office, but hey it isn't about helping anyone but themselves (and their rich donors) so they can get reelected.
