Garden City does'nt really have much of a youth program. They play parent-coached PAL like everyone else then go play club lacrosse when they are in 4th grade and are trained by the club teams. The HS team dominates the class B scene in NYS. If they played class A from March to June they would not be as dominant, but still one of the top teams.
I don't think thats true at all. First not every P.A.l. org is the same , some are good and some are not as good, but what they are supposed to do is teach the fundamentals, obviously G.C. does that vey well because they have a long history of lax and many people return to G.C. and in turn , teach them to the younger generation. Not every parent thinks it a good idea to thrust there child into club ball at 8 years old, and 1 or 2 practices a week are nice , but that will not build a team like G.C. I think it's the other way around Clubs rely on schools and parents to make better players , and clubs just showcase them. And lastly, you don't really think that a school with a couple of hundred more kids is really making a difference do you. Do you really think Farmingdale or Northport could stop G.C. if they bumped up to div. A. if you do than your crazy.

Parents (like you) are the clubs worse nightmare if they do more than write a check, and I'll repeat since you seem learning impaired: GC has no special youth lax program. They play PAL then they realize they are not learning well so they go to the club teams in 4th or 5th grade which is where they learn lacrosse. Ask any one of their HS players where they learned how to play and 99% will not say from GC Youth PAL, and very few girls learned from their parents (many of the GC parents dont know the rules or have learned them from sitting in their beach chairs) why isn't there GC based equivalent of YJ or Liberty ? fl$ may be building one but If you are a girls youth standout lax player you are not playing for a GC based program as your main focus, because there is'nt one available except PAL. So when you say GC has the best "program" what exactly are you talking about ?

Garden City benefits from a high salary per capita. They are a rare district where most everyone there can afford the crazy cost of paying for the yellow jacket program with all the tuition fees, tournament costs training camps etc...... Add it all up, it is thousands of dollars per year. Sad part is it is nearly impossible to be competitive on the elite level unless you also belong to an elite club for training and exposure to other elite clubs. And exposure to school ball "ain't" the same thing.
