Agree with many of the posters against hold backs, particularly at youth. Poster is right, that 16 yo holdback is competing with your 14 yo for one of the 700 or so D1 spots.
I saw something interesting recently while registering a team for a US Lacrose tourney. There was a statement in bold red letters "USLacrosse is working on a comprehensive age verification system..." The registration process went on to request an uploaded proof of age, e.g., birth cert., passport, etc. Maybe there is hope for a standardized system!
