A famous Herm Edwards quote: "You play to win the game!"

And look where that got him.....at the 2017 age, you are looking to get exposure to college coaches, not necessarily win. Teams should be shooting for getting the boys exposure, which generally means equal playing time so all boys have an opporutnity to be seen.

equal playing time?? how funny would it be if every kid had a turn playing the lead role in their hs musical? Thanks for making me laugh.

You just don't get it. It's a recruiting showcase! Everyone gets seen.
It's like the audition for your musical!

Great analogy. Many teams when hitting the recruiting trail tell their players "if you feel you're not getting enough play time or a short shift, let us (coaches) know we'll make sure you get time". Also, teams will give players more time even over more skilled players when they know a coach is there to see a specific player. Why would any parent pay to be on a team, regardless of how good it is, if the kid is not playing in front of the coaches? It's all about playing good competition and playing time. It's about getting exposure in front of the college coaches. This is why you're seeing more and more growth in the individual showcases and college specific prospect and clinic days. If you're worried about W-L, go to the 2020-2022 threads, seems like you're more in tune with that crowd.
