I think the point was, in many instances, the kids are still only a month or two apart in age...not a year older. The kids with the late birthdays that were " held back" are the ones that are close in age with many on their team. Being called "cheaters" in those instances sounds ridiculous.
You are right, it does sound ridiculous, however, if you think most of these boys are a month or 2 apart is naive
