Club lax, individual showcases and who you are connected to (before HS) are all way more important than HS lacrosse when it comes to recruiting.

Regarding the friendships point, you are 100% accurate

Good retort my friend, however I would say to you regarding the 2016 and 2017 commits, are we 100 percent sure that this is a good practice and is whats best for the kids? Take a look at the strong Long Island programs, West Islip, Ward Melville, Garden City, Manhasset, etc. As a general rule those programs have kids committing going into their junior years. I know my Head Varsity coach will not recommend a kid unless hes played and started at least one year at the Varsity level. I for one know my son is in no way ready to commit to a college in his freshman year of high school. THis early recruiting thing has really gotten out of control and it has made parent lose perspective in regards to their children and their capabilities. I would also submit to you that the majority of 2016 commits are kids that were either held back or started school late, so lets keep that in mind too. Youll know when your son is ready, dont be in such a rush.

High school lax is where they will make friendships and bonds that will last the rest of their lives. So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride and stop worrying about which 14 yr old lacrosse team is better.
