For my son, it was a great experience. Very good position-level training from 3D combined with first showcase-type experience (4 games). For Mid-Atlantic region, good competition with many of the best players from LI, NJ, PA, etc. Also, for 8th graders, this is the only avcenue to Jake Reed which my son made. Don't do it for college exposure (none), although making Jake Reed is a plus, do it b/c it is well-run, good training, good competition, and will give your son some epxerience with showcase-type events and play against pretty good competition. However, this all has to be weighed against the expense as it isn't cheap.
