Because he and his parents probably prefer to be a spoke in the wheel instead of the entire wheel. If a goalie has mediocre defenders or middies in front then the goalie will not be or appear to be as good as he or she does on a top team. Both goalies are outstanding and are looking at the long term plan. Many up the line including the top high schools, split time with their goalies if they’re essentially equal in talent and ability.
This is a delusional 91 Parent. Goalies blaming their ‘mediocre’ teammates when they do not appear as good, calling their kid “the entire wheel”. Did a parent really write that? How many 91 goalies have been recruited to top schools? Most of their teams are so dominant offensively that they can carry their defenders and, gasp, Goalies. Looking at the long term plan, huh?
