With an anomaly of a 2021 season in the rearview mirror, another spring of high school lacrosse is finally underway as noteworthy games in the Mid-Atlantic are set to take place this weekend.

The Cadets of St. John's (D.C.) start the year in the No. 1 spot, returning all but two starters from a team that went 11-1 &had a pair of top-five wins a year ago for the D.C. Lacrosse Championships. They're carried by an incredibly talented and experienced senior class, a group that made up half of the Cadets' starting lineup as freshmen back in the 2019 WCAC title game, as well as two of the nation's top juniors at the face-off & goalie positions.

However, the start of the season will present some stiff tests for St. John's, with the Cadets scheduled to play three preseason Top 10 teams from the MIAA and IAC — Georgetown Prep, Boys' Latin and Calvert Hall — in the next 10 days.

Sitting in the No. 2 spot, McDonogh (Md.) returns a ton of firepower and experience from a team that went undefeated in the regular season before being upset in the conference semifinals, and nobody's hungrier for redemption.

Brunswick (Conn.), St. Anthony's (N.Y.) and Culver (Ind.) round out the top five, having reloaded after graduating several Under Armour All-Americans from a year ago.

Elsewhere on the list, Deerfield Academy (Mass.) and Malvern Prep (Pa.) find themselves further down the Top 25 after finishing No. 1 and No. 2 last season.
