The commit numbers you post are misleading due to timing and lower division recruits (e.g. D3) committed at this point (or lack of).
By my count, there are : - roughly 1100 D1 commits in the class of 2020, - roughly 1050 in the class of 2021 so far (count will increase as all 2022 college rosters are posted), and - roughly 1000 in the class of 2022 so far (they are still trickling in).
Bottom line - for D1 in total, very marginal impact. Now I would posit that a number of the top programs are taking a few less recruits, and there is more space as you go further down the pecking order.
