for the 2022 class according to IL there are 96 MD girls recruited and 120 from NY. Considering the size of MD compared to NY I would say MD is still a hotbed.

I would still say, MD would be the tops in nation, with Long Island right there.
that is all of new york. not every recruit reports their commitment on IL though...but it is still a good barometer to see that there is not as much disparity as some think there is. in the end the 23's will probably end up with similar numbers

Regardless, the population of LI alone is 7.7 million which is higher than that of MD as a whole.

Yeah but to be fair, the bulk of LI's population is in Brooklyn (2.59 Mil) and Queens (2.29 Mil), which don't really play lax. Nassau and Suffolk Counties are the lax hotbeds, and they total about 2.837 Mil.
