I believe the MD lax kids play more of a physical game, too. The refs allowed a lot more contact than LI officials. The use of poles at the U-9 and U-11 level is another big difference, but not necessarily an advantage for all using it.
Some poles were very skilled, but an equal number were a liability. Nice experience.
