In what was arguably the most exciting match we have seen from this post-season to date, the Garden City Trojans survived their Class B semifinal with Niskayuna scoring the game winner with 0:02 remaining on the clock. The winning goal was scored by Dale Stasco with the assist going to Cody George. Garden City led this match, 6-5, at the half with neither team having more than a one goal advantage for the entire second stanza.
On the heels of the Class B semifinal, the Class C action was just as tight and exciting with a disappointing result for the Long Island boys. Shoreham-Wading River lost in overtime to Bronxville, 14-13, after their Section I opponent won the opening draw in overtime and converted. SWR had the final possession in regulation but could not convert the game winner.
Ward Melville found themselves in a first quarter dog fight with the score knotted at four with a tough Shenendehowa team from Section II. Bruckner scored five for Ward Melville and sets up one of the most anticipated matches of the season with the Class A Championship on the line : Ward Melville vs. West Genesee on Saturday.
